I think Brooks fits better as the rim protector and Nsoseme the rebounder/dirty work guy.

Yea I think Brooks is also showing some offensive potential. If he takes another step next year he could be a big help in filling some of the offensive slack with the graduations.

After watching him do you think he has a shot to play in the NBA? Great kid!!
Definitely a great kid. The G League game was perfect because the crowds and arena are so small. I got to say hi to him after the game and he shook my and my wife's hands.

He could eventually play in the NBA. Needs to work on his shooting. He was really good in the pick and roll with Adreian Payne form MSU. He would have had probably 15 assists in the game I saw if Rodney Purvis could make a shot. It was kind of surreal to see them playing together.

I actually don't think Troy was the issue. As I said earlier, you need support to run in transition, not a fast point guard. Troy played most of his years with Kevin Johnson or Farad Cobb as the other guard. They were not good transition players. Also, our bigs aren't great outlet passers. So, I think it was the makeup of the rest of the team that limited our transition game, rather than Troy. I saw him in person in the G League last week, and he has adapted very well to the uptempo pace there. He's a good passer and very much under control.

Agree, to play uptempo you have to have everyone running and also understand spacing and things like that. Sometimes a quick pg can beat everyone down court and then he can't do anything but force a contested shot when the defense gets back cause none of his teammates are down court with him.

I think Caupain got used to walking the ball up the court because we really had to force slow games to limit possessions early in his career cause our defense was waaaaay better than our offense

He better. Otherwise we will be one dimensional on offense. I like Brooks, I like that he keeps the ball high and wants to dunk. Needs to work on boxing out and also not leaving his man. The other night he ran out beyond the three point line to double team a guy and left his man open on the baseline, eight feet from the basket. He was late getting back and ended up an and one. Early in the year he was bad for going for blocks and not getting in position to rebound. I haven't noticed it as much lately. Next year he has to be the man. He servicable offensively and should get more polished. He definitely needs to work on being in position to rebound and know when to go for blocks and when not to.

Deonta Vaughn, amirite?

Yeah, Downey was guilty of it too. He was a freshman though so it's kind of to be expected. I've seen Cane do it a few times. Can't really blame these players though, trying to make plays and be aggressive. Good pg's need to know what they can do and what they cant. Caupain was a little too passive though in my opinion.

Right, I meant that more as an indictment of the rest of the team rather than of Vaughn.

He is not just putting him in for defense and assist. He is running the offense as well. Cronin isn't telling him to not score he is telling him to execute the game plan. If scoring opportunities present themselves in the flow of the game certainly he should take them. He shouldn't be out their exclusively looking for his shot while the other 4 stand around watching. That isn't needed with this team. He is not the first or only offensive option on this team. Coach also said in the past year he needs to work on his defense and his ball security.

When exactly is he doing this?? Once or twice a game at best? He's a scorer shouldn't he try to score sometimes. Even if it isn't the "gameplan." It's not like he is out where all me me me.

Why is giving cane a little more opportunity to score turning into a whole molding the team around him thing. I think that's a little extreme oppositie of the point some people are trying to make. And really just over emphasizing some of his mistakes. All of our guys make mistakes, I haven't seen anyone be perfect this season. He's missing some shots an he makes a stupid turnover once a game. Other than that he's doing what he needs to. I wouldn't mind seeing him getting a little more free reign to try and creat every once in a while. We have an athletic team that can make plays off of him. But really at this point I think we are using him just as much as we need to as far as minutes are concerned. I like the split him and Jenifer are getting at the moment.

The more I think about this game; the more I think its going to be tight throughout.

Gampel is nearly sold out, its a white out and they are passing out Rally towels. Crowd will be ready to storm the court if they win (5 years ago, that would sound ridiculous).

I think will need Gary to push us through to victory. UCONN is the closest thing we have to a rival in this league and rivalry games never play out the way you'd expect.

The noon tip scares me a bit.

I'm going to Tao Float at 10am to try an isolation tank for the first time, its supposed to be really stress relieving and relaxing, so lets home my stomach isn't in knots shortly after 12 or it will be pointless

We need a focused effort and we will be fine. UConn is bad.

Memphis is our biggest rival imo.

Maybe 5 years ago but it's definitely UCONN now. UCONN @ home the last few years has been an insane atmosphere.

Yeah I feel like those conference tournaments games of the past few years have really cranked things up.

Meh I was there last year and it wasn't anything special. UCONN is a fabricated rivalry out of necessity and circumstance, we have so much more history with Memphis. Just my opinion though.

You're overthinking. Making reasons to be nervous. If we play our game we win easily, we play half our game we still win.

I get what you're saying but why would Cronin recruit an established scoring point guard and tout his offensive abilities the entire past year, only to put him in for d and assist?

Hahahaha! Bingo! I agree, why was Cane talked about so much by Mick??

Cane needs to continue to learn, and watch the silly TO's, but I get tired of hearing how good someone is when they sit out a year, only to see otherwise later.
This happened with Huggs as a well, many times.
