Some rumors starting to go around about Big East. I think message boards are good for rumors so I will mention a couple.

1. Seton Hall is about to get the axe.
2. Butler is the Big Easts #1 basketball prospect. They would only be invited for basketball of coarse. I believe they are the only true target if there is one. New bball deal could be epic and some believe it will rival football $$$. Indianapolis market is desirable.

The Big East is going to be getting a makeover. Football will definitely see changes. Likely TCU will be added.

I still think the best situation would be to give Seton Hall the axe and Marquette.

We are the only conference that could cut Marquette. Their market is tiny compared to the rest of the schools. Suck at most sports other than basketball. Not one of the top 6 programs in the Big East. Some may say cut ND out or Depaul but I dont think either of those schools will be let go.

Marquette has a decent market size in Milwaukee and receives a bunch of interest from Chicago (being only 60-90 minutes away). DePaul should stay because it is Chicago....which is obviously one of the larger markets in the country.

Seton Hall getting the axe? Interesting...

What about Providence? What do they really offer? I would rather see them go rather than Marquette.

Providence offers the BE headquarters and its commissioner. The Friars aren't going anywhere unless a new commish from a football school is appointed.

To the OP, I don't see Butler coming. I do agree Seton Hall will likely be gone. Instead of getting the boot they will announce they are moving to a new conference or possibly DII. Depaul and Marquette do hep with the Chicago market. Of course, so does Notre Dame.

Depaul doesnt do as much as you would think. No way seton hall goes to DII. No way. I think the A-10 would welcome them with open arms and get rid of one of their bs schools.

No chance of Seton Hall getting the axe. Never going to happen. Same goes with all the other basketball only schools. The basketball schools are not going to vote out one of their own.

TCU to the Big East? Doubtful. I couldn't see all the basketball schools approving of admitting TCU. That is why Nova is being sought after to join FBS.

There is a reason this stuff is just found on message boards. The football schools are more likely to split off than for any of this to happen.

Have to agree here. I don't see the BBall schools approving TCU and then letting Nova jump up to FBS. That would be stupid of them politically. Now I can see Nova moving up but not TCU coming in. Even though that's been the big rumor. BTW TCU has no TV market. Dallas-Fort Worth is a pro town.

Seton Hall is likely getting the axe. Their athletic department is in turmoil. They dont even have an AD! Been like that for months and months. I would be SHOCKED if seton hall is replaced with Butler.

Nova will jump to the football side of things IMO. Just getting the details ironed out with that. TCU and 1 other will be added or asked to be football only schools.

Any of these moves would need unanimous approval. Do you really think the basketball schools would all agree to kick Seton Hall out? They are not going to want to shift the power to the football schools. Not to mention Seton Hall is one of the original members. The adding Butler part of the idea just makes the "rumor" that much more ridiculous.

A move to bring any football school as a full-time member will also likely be blocked by the basketball schools. That is why Nova is being pursued as a football school because it would be an easier way to take over the majority in the conference. If the football schools really want to make these moves, they are going to need to split off from the basketball schools.
