Time for Jenifer to get some props. He deserves it. I didn’t think I would be having this opinion at this point but he’s been playing very well and within himself. Well done sir!!

logan should definitely be cool in time, but if he's not practicing well and is gonna hurt the defense, he can't play in a game like this. in the minute he did play, he blew a very specific assignment not to leave that skinny white dork. we can't have that happening with this team in big games.

Wtf have you been watching? Logan doesn’t hurt the defense.

Well said. I've been hard on him over the years but I gotta hand it to him.

He is shooting 46% from three point range, has a nearly 8:1 assist to turnover ratio, and is playing the best defense of his career. I think Logan Johnson is going to be really good, but I can't see how you take minutes away from Jenifer right now. There is a better argument for taking minutes away from Broome, who hasn't made a 3 since Arkansas-Pine Bluff, sulks on defense when his shot isn't falling, and seems to forget he has teammates at times. That said, he is also capable of exploding at any time and carrying the team on offense, a quality shared only by Cumberland on this team. You have to live with Bad Cane in order to get Good Cane, and I don't think Johnson brings enough right now to give up a chance at seeing Good Cane.
I would agree that LoJos minutes should probably come from Broome. My question is how can LoJo be what we all see he can be if he doesn’t get minutes? For me the sooner the better.

I am still a Jennifer skeptic. The only two shots I saw him take are 2 threes that he missed. That said I don’t argue against the result and the team seemed to be under control. Maybe this will be the group that truly gels around Cronin’s vision of defense first and deliberate offense basketball. It remains to be seen if he will ever let LoJoe be what it appears he is capable of which is taking the team over.

So are you a rondo skeptic too? More to basketball than just shooting

Agreed. I've probably been as hard on Jennifer as most but he has played well this year. Last year I still won't get over but this year he has done well so far both on defense and giving what we need on offense.

I'll be interested to see how he does against better competition because that's where his play started to falter last year. Hoping this year will be different.

the game, you should try it. mick said he had a tough week of practice. when mick says that, it means defense. then, he blew his assignment in this game when he was in. simple facts.

He didn't have a bad year last year. He had Washington, Evans, Clark and Cumberland running with him. He needed to distribute the ball and play defense. People wanted to insert Broome for him in the starting line up. Coach felt Broome was better running with the second group for offense. Something I agree with. Cane is most effective when he can control the ball. Running with last years starters we didn't need a point guard pounding the rock looking for his offense. Both Cane and JJ fill important roles and they have both contributed to a bunch of winning games.

Fun game and great atmosphere.

I thought Cronin outcoached Steele. Go to the second half around the 6:40 mark. The possesion before Jarron beat Wellage off the dribble and drove to basket and got fouled.

At the 6:40 mark Jarron is bringing the ball up the floor being guarded by Goodin. Scott comes to set a pick and Wellage and Goodin switch leaving Wellage on Jarron for the 2nd straight possesion. The moment Trey Scott recognizes the match up he immediately goes to the baseline and even has one foot out of bounds before clearing all the way out behind the 3pt line leaving Cumberland with as much room as possible to beat Wellage to the rim again. Which he did for 2 points.

Jarron then ran by our bench saying, “He can’t guard me!”

I also believe Cronin called a great game last night. We took advantage of mismatches and switches for the most part.

It is fun watching a few of our players actually making plays by driving. I thought Williams might have some troubles with that because he's not a great outside shooter but he is finding a way to get to the rim.

Our offense looks completely different from last year and it's a welcome sight even if it comes by necessity. Many of us had our doubts about what Scott would look like against better competition but you can see him progressing every game into a confident player and that is another huge positive for us.

I am starting to move my expectations up and that is a good feeling!

It would be nice to see him penetrate more but in all actuality he doesn't really need to on this team. We have players for that and Jenifer is one of our better shooters from deep now...so in a strange role reversal he is the one who can get the kickouts.

I didn't see this coming...but it's working

Williams is a highlight reel waiting to happen when he gets close to the rim. He goes for dunks any chance he can get. It's been a long time since we have had a player like that. We've only seen the tip of the iceberg...he's going to have some of the most impressive dunks at UC before it's all over. Certainly in the Cronin era. We need to get working on some back cut alley oop material for him. Maybe even some out of bounds stuff out in front of the rim.

Jenifer is 11-24 from 3 this year. Want to know whats funny about that?

Jenifer started off last year 11-24 from 3.

I'm sorry man, I can't agree with you and the stats prove that you're wrong. This isn't to say he didn't play his role decently last year but in our biggest competition he shouldn't have been started and I believe it lead us to losing multiple games we could have won.

In our 5 biggest games last year (the 5 ranked opponents we played) their stats are as followed:

Jennifer averaged 1.6 points, .4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 0 steals.

Broome averaged 11.4 points, 2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1 steal.

Fun game and great atmosphere.

I thought Cronin outcoached Steele.

16 years as a head coach vs a coach with 8 games or w/e as a head coach. It showed.

I'm not sure what kind of coach Steele will be in the future, but he's clearly a 1st year guy. He lets those guards settle for far too many bad 3's. Goodin and Marshall have taken almost as many as Cumberland but they shoot 22%. It was a clear problem for them coming in and we just stood back and let them fire away.

Jenifer started off last year 11-24 from 3.

I still think he's going to be bothered a little bit by longer and faster defenders but at this point I don't trust any of our other shooters (not named Cumberland) any more than I do Jenifer.

Our offense wasn't particularly good yesterday. It was actually pretty bad. We just destroyed them on the defensive end. It was our 3rd lowest PPP on the season and 2nd worst offensive game when adjusted for opponent.

It only looked solid in comparison to the awful crap xavier put out there. It was so fun watching xavier struggle so much on offense.
