This was clearly Mick's #1 man for 2010, to lose him to Nevada is embarrassing in my opinion, again, I have nothing wrong with Nevada and no ill feelings to Burton or his family, but lets see Big East or WAC?? I think this was an example where the "lame duck" coach was used against Mick.
Curious to what you would have said if he committed to UC.

I'd like some more proof. I can't find anything besides this twitter post. Not even on the Nevada message boards.
I have been trying to bite my tougnue a little bit here because I knew he had people over here.
No sour grapes at all.
Facts are this was a 2-3 star kid who was on the rise and we wanted. He went elsewhere.
To me his skill level would be compared to Dion Dixon.
This was not Teague or Stephenson type of recruit is all I am saying. People were over hyping him here to show love and to carry the message. Nothing is wrong with that.
I did and still want Burton because he could help us but there is no way he started next year and his minutes would have been tough to come by.
Honestly, whoever we get in for next year will not be an immediate impact. There is not any of those guys left.

I thought he was Melvin Levitt? Or was that when we still had a chance at him
I found the timing weird because I thought he was supposed to announce Saturday, but I don't see why a site ran by Bearcat Insiders would make this up. I would guess that Burton let our staff know and the news leaked, but who really knows. I would love for it to be wrong, but I seriously doubt it.
No way BCL throws this out there without being positive.
Our #1 was probably Jelen kendrick or Payne.
The next tier was Justin Jackson who is going to contribute next year.
Beneth them were trying to fill Lance's spot with JUCO or whatever else was left...
Wow. We haven't heard anything one way or the other yet. All we're hearing is still that he's going to announce at the all-star game.
If true, this isn't what I expected. Best of luck to you guys, and again, thanks to the vast majority of you for the respect you've shown Nevada. I will definitely pay more attention to Cincinnati because of the class you've shown toward Nevada through Deonte's decision.
I meant top guy for spring signing period... kendrick and payne were long gone. I am taking the distance factor into play, all I was suggesting is that generally a major division 1 prospect doesn't choose a mid-major over a major conference team unless he has some relation (like a father coaching, etc). FWIW Burton was top 50 as a freshmen but had to sit out his junior season (or sophomore) and that is why he fell off the rankings. I am disappointed because UC needs some new faces, imo Burton was the best player we were on after Ratliffe committed to Missouri. This current team is in no way, shape or form ready to compete at the top of the Big East. Mick better hope that Poland comes to UC because at the end of the week he will likely end up losing Burton and Teague. If Poland goes elsewhere look out...
FWIW I never believed he would be a Bearcat, but when UCLA was eliminated I expected him to come here.
