The 6'8” forward has done a lot of growing up in his senior season, and he really thinks that added maturity will help him once he arrives in Clifton.

“Like Coach (Rex Morgan) said, you are on a team to play your role. If you do well enough you can get your role moved up. I know when I get up to Cincinnati that's what I am going to have to do, and being here has helped me learn that. I'm just learning to be a man and play my role. My role at Cincinnati will be to play defense, hit open shots and just play hard.”

I am very very excited to see him. He is a premier recruit.

I will bet cash money that his stock will rise in the final rankings. He has added an offensive game to match his motor and athleticism. I had tempered expectations before today, but reading about his point output should be extremely encouraging to all UC fans.

Alum is there any chance other big name schools try to come in and recruit him with his stock rising?

Muahaha, excellant. Justin sounds like the inside motor played we are lacking on this team!

I really like how he said "My role at Cincy is to play D, hit open shots and just play hard". That is a great attitude that hopefully rubs off on many players.

That is a sweet picture there. Love the work you have been doing so far, thanks a lot. I think it is really helping this site.

Cincy-bound PF Jackson shines

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- The talent was plentiful at the PrimeTime Shootout. Games were held at Morgantown high school on Friday evening and Saturday morning before moving to beautiful West Virginia University Coliseum for the evening games. The Morgantown tournament coincided with the Ohio State at West Virginia game being played on Jan. 23. The Shootout was bought to Morgantown by the Greater Morgantown Convention and Visitors Bureau who did a tremendous job. On Friday, top performances included ESPNU No. 82 ranked player and University of Cincinnati signee PF Justin Jackson (Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day) who displayed a nonstop motor on both ends of the floor and finished at the rim consistently. Sophomore SF Jarmal Reid (Decatur, Ga./Columbia) showed strength and skill; he scores in transition and from behind the arc. In the Saturday morning session, combination forward Tobias Harris (Dix Hills, NY./ Half Hollow Hills West) was terrific. He scored about every way possible. Also impressive 6-foot-10 C Juvonte Reddic (Winston-Salem, N.C./ Quality Education Academy) repeatedly finished above the rim and rebounded on both ends in and out if his area. The night session was impressive as well as two Baltimore natives and ESPNU100 performers played extremely well. PG Josh Selby (Lake Clifton) and Connecticut commit SF Roscoe Smith (Oak Hill Academy) scored with regularity and displayed high-level athletic ability.

2010, Jacksonville, Fla./Arlington Country Day, Signed with Cincinnati

Jackson gets your attention right away with his constant activity. He is always around the action attempting to make a play. Jackson is an athletic finisher in transition and lob threat because he runs the floor at high speeds on a consistent basis. He hits the glass on both ends and is extremely hard to box out because of his great energy and effort. Jackson can defensive rebound and start the break where he is a decent open court ballhandler, and he can score on the offensive glass with a quick jumping tip or bring the rebound back to the floor and power it up through contact. Jackson has good touch in the lane and he is terrific at attacking the basket from the high-post area where he can get to the rim and finish with spins before he elevates over defenders. He can make straight-line drives from the wing and hit open shots with needed time and space, but these are areas he must continue to improve upon. He must work on his passing under pressure and be more disciplined on the defensive end. At times, he gambles and picks up silly fouls. What makes Jackson special is his great motor and the way he competes along with his rapidly-improving skill.

I am getting excited for this guy to become a bearcat, hopefully he fills the need that this team is severely lacking on this team. ENERGY

JJ will be a huge addition to this team. He is in the mold of Hicks and Maxiell. He works extremely hard and his motor never stops. Him, Lance, Cash, Dixon and Parker will bring a whole new attitude to this team next season. Mick is purposely recruiting guys of this ilk. The current team is too laid back.

So Mike Williams doesn't count because of the transfer? :p

No.

Mike was damaged goods (b/c of transfer), albeit, still a nice player.

I knew Mike on a casual basis and he was a standup man. Mature beyond his years. I use the word "man" because he was different from the other players on the team. He was a leader.

I would take a team of Mike Williams.

I was able to watch this kid play in the JACK JONES SHOOTOUT about a week ago and came away very impressed. JJ is a very impressive athlete and has tremendous block shotting ability. He will run the floor and swat what other players think is a break away layups into the 2nd row. His first shot he took and hit was a 3 he has a very high arc on his shot but it looks descent. There were many great players on the court and he was the most impressive on his team. When they say he has a non stop motor they are not lying his name was mentioned by the broadcasters on almost every shot saying that he is single handily carrying them on there back. This kid is every bit of 6 foot 9 but has a slender build. JJ does a great job at flashing the high post and breaking to the rim for layups and thunderous dunks. I have to say that there is a good chance this kid will start from day 1 and dont be suprised if he is the big east rookie of the week on numerous ocassions JJ will be a breathe of fresh air and will force everyone to play with intensity and passion. The only knock on him would be his FT shooting but hey we are used to that.

I still haven't had a chance to see him play yet... I hope your analysis is spot on, because that's exactly what Yancy needs... someone to bust his ass...
