Marquis, come to UC!!!

Khristian will be a 'Cat and you can return this program to national PROMINENCE with a good friend along side helping you!!! :)

this has been in the works for a little while now, it didn't just happen the other day- it became public the other day.

Also, Lavender transferred to XU after Brandon Foust and OU parted ways 5 games into the season.

Obviously Cronin had been recruiting him for a while. To me it just doesn't make sense to do it. Again, Cronin could have recruited teammates from elite players for the past four years and hasn't, why would he do it now?

Maybe because he believes Smith can develop into a serviceable to strong perimeter wing man?... and, there's a first time for everything... as well as a situation for everything... nine times out of ten I don't agree with going after 'package deals' but I like the way this is turning out... Smith will go to prep school for a year and develop his game (ala Sean Kilpatrick)... who knows how many D1 schools may come calling next year after that season of prep ball... and technically, though I wouldn't be overly happy with the move if made, UC isn't locked into anything with Smith at this point... the "plan" is to have him come here after a year of prep school... if his game were to not progress or he still doesn't qualify, then obviously the offer could be pulled...

agree. offer was pulled from McElroy, UC and Varez Ward parted ways 2 years ago. just because a guy commits does not mean he will end up at that school. hopefully it works out and Smith ends up at UC. however, i would imagine that there is some type of understanding with Smith, i.e. if his game does not get to a certain level, then the scholarship might not be there any longer.

Interesting read. The Kentucky paper never mentions Cincinnati. I'm hoping we have a surprise for everyone at the end of this week.

SPEAKING OF RAISED EYEBROWS, THEY ARE ALWAYS the case when a player de-commits, and while 6-10 Michael Chandler of Indianapolis Lawrence North says he's not officially out of the University of Louisville camp, his announcement last week that he will re-open his recruitment has to mean that he's looking elsewhere.

Nonetheless, Chandler's decision further exacerbates the general feeling of anxiousness that hangs like a giant ash cloud above the U of L faithful. If the Marquis Teague decision doesn't go Rick Pitino's way -- and I'm not saying it won't, because he still appears to have the slightly upper hand in the deal and has put in more time with Teague and his family than anyone -- it's going to be hand-wringing time in the Derby city, especially if Teague winds up in Calipari's production of Charlie and the Point Guard Factory over in Lexington.

I actually like a couple things Shawn Teague said:

“He likes the program and the coaches have been great,” the elder Teague said of UC. “He likes their style of play. He’s very comfortable with them right now.”

“It’s been a difficult decision,” he said. “Things have changed with different dynamics in terms of the program and the coaches. As a parent, I was more concerned about whether the coaches were going to be there and what players were coming. We’ve gotten a better grip on that now.”

I like the combination of those two comments. We know Pitino and Calipari aren't going anywhere. There was question about Mick.

Report that Kentucky is the team to beat.

"If he picks Kentucky — and sources indicate he will — he would give UK the top two prospects in the 2011 class already. Considering Kentucky is also positioned well with at least two other players in the top 10, Calipari could possibly have the No. 1 recruiting class three straight years at Kentucky if he adds Jones and/or Leslie this year."

Everyone is not giving UC a chance. This is good. If he chooses us than we make a serious splash. If we chooses UK or UL then we didnt really lose him cause we never had a chance.
