'11 IN PG Marquis Teague (Kentucky Verbal)

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

Apparently some analyst over on Scout is reporting Teague will NOT be deciding this weekend... like wise, Jerry Meyer of Rivals is apparently reporting there are "whispers" that Kentucky is now the leader for Teague.

We Shall See.

Bottom line, none of these guys know. The only one's who have any idea are the Teague's, and possibly the coaches of his final 3 teams, if they have been up front with them.

Hopefully Mick can land this kid, the impact of Teague signing with Cincinnati would be a pivotal turning point in the programs future. With so many open schollies available in the 2011 class, starting things off with a player of Teague's caliber could only mean great things. Not getting my hopes up because I think Ville is the team to beat but hey, I can dream can't I?

Furthermore, does Teague possibly delaying his decision help or hurt our cause? Hopefully the Bearcats can land Ratliffe so we can sell Teague on playing with two premier power forwards (well assuming Gates decides he wants to play with intensity).

Absolutely HELPS our cause.

I would love to land Ratliffe b/c what point guard doesn't love a big guy that can finish and score the ball? That's good for 2-3 assists/game.

I'd be very, very concerned if I was a Louisville fan. This is the third time that Marquis has pushed off his announcement, and Louisville has been considered the leader for most, if not all, of his recruitment.

C'mon MT! Shock the basketball landscape and help UC return to national prominence!

Just want to clear up one huge misconception that has spiraled out of control over the last 5 or so days. Teague never once said he was going to make a choice this weekend. He gave an answer to a question that basically said he had recently sat down with his parents and talked things over and they all decided if he felt 100% on a school he could make the call at any time. From there this thing took on a life of its own and got to this point where now he has "decided not to verbal" this weekend. He never said he was going to, just that he could at any time now. Gotta love the internet age where one quote can turn into 5 days of a national version of the rumor games that we all learned in grade school...

Thanks for clearing that up.

I'm sure this spawned out of a UK or UL media outlet. Stupid UK and UL.....

It started with an interview done by the UL Scout site. From there everyone had their own take on spinning what he said. This business is a pain in my rear end sometimes... lol

“I'm thinking about making my decision at Boo Williams next weekend, right now that is the plan,” Teague said.

may not have been 100%, but he said it was his plan to announce at Boo Williams. so he did say that he was planning on making a choice this weekend.

"I'm thinking about" and "Right now that is the plan"

Exactly the two quotes I was pointing out when I made that post. Buzz word quotes that leave the door open to anything, and result in the message world speculating on what it might mean.

If I started a "Marquis spent Spring Break in Atlanta with his brother Jeff and Wake is a real sleeper" rumor it would have legs by the time I leave for the Boo Williams tournament on Thursday night. After all, he made all of these comments during or directly past his time spent with his older brother.

People are guessing all over the place. That's the nature of the business. Pick what you want to hear and hope it's right...

i guess it is a waste of time to argue semantics, but i can see pretty clearly why people thought he was going to decide this weekend based on that quote.

I don't think anyone can be 100% sure when he will make his announcement, even big time writers, my sources, or hell even his family. But I like when he does it will send shock waves and that's all I'm saying right now.

well, at least it sounds like you think Teague will choose UC. I guess that's better than you thinking he'll choose UK or UL.

Teague Decision Still Coming......
By Kyle Neddenriep
April 6, 2010

As reported Friday, it Pike junior Marquis Teague is nearing a college decision and it will likely come next week. Teague's father, Shawn Teague, said last week that his son would notify the colleges he doesn't choose before making a decision. It's expected that his choices will come down to Kentucky, Louisville and Indiana.

There has been some talk about Teague playing at a prep school for his senior season. Pike district athletic director James Perkins said he hasn't heard anything specific from the Teague family about that situation.

"The Teagues have been a Pike family and been very supportive of the school and we've been very supportive of them," Perkins said. "We certainly hope he's back at Pike."

So now we are supposedly out of this all together? Where the hell did Indiana come from?

Neddenrip and Demling write for a particular fanbase.

They say things that aren't accurate so they keep their jobs.

It's UK, UL and UC.

I'm still not sold that he is heavily considering UK.

Demling is usually pretty accurate. He writes for UK, UL, and IU but doesn't post stuff that isn't true. He even posted that it's between UK, UL, and UC. I think the other guy just mixed up IU with UC. Pretty much everyone acknowledged that IU is out of it.

Thanks for clearing it up. After news of Lance leaving today, the last thing I needed to hear was that we had no chance at this kid anymore. I had ankle surgery yesterday and was pretty out of it until this morning. I read Lance was leaving and had to make sure it wasn't the drugs talking. lol
