I don't always worry about star ratings as much as I do about offer sheets... because it's ultimately the coaches' opinions I want to know about and an offer is one in the highest regard... and when you get offers from Kentucky, Louisville, Connecticut, North Carolina, Ohio State, West Virginia, etc... it says a lot about the type of player people that get paid A LOT more money than anyone on these boards think he is. One top program takes a flyer on him, happens all the time, could be a bust... two or three offer him, he's probably going to end up being a good prospect but he could still flop... when you get that many offers it's clear that at this point, he is one of the best prospects in the class.

Yes, there is no guarantee either way on what type of player Chane will become, or Shaq for that matter. But as of right now you would have to count yourself in a very small minority of people who don't consider Chane an elite player.

1. Don't underestimate my Saudi Riyal (aka, pesos....aka, dollar billz...aka cake...aka cash money...aka coin, and lots of them!). If my knowledge of the game was given its just reward....I'd be as rich as a Saudi Arabian King swimming in oil.

2. #1 means I'd have trillions of Saudi Riyal. No, I don't know the exchange rate.

3. Chane will be a solid player, but elite is far too much respect. Time will tell, but I'll bet a few pesos (or drinks because we are in America....after all) on Chane's averages as a Jr. and Sr. at U of L.

:D Hey if a petition starts up to get you the money you deserve I'll be first in line to sign.

And as you say, only time will tell.

I am happy about this commitment. I am also pleased by the way this class is shaping up. Now Mick needs to finish strong and hopefully a good showing this season will help him nab one or two long shots in the late signing period.

Jermaine Sanders is likely a late signing focus. Sanders publicly mentioned waiting until late in the process to make a decision.

Aaron Thomas, Jeremiah Davis, Elijah Carter, Jerome Seagers, Jermaine Sanders, Kevin Pangos, Tyquan Goodlett

As far as I can see these are the players left on the board that are most likely to become Bearcats. The class is shaping up well, how many spots are left... 2, 3?

I believe Seagers has already crossed us off his list.

Shaq is the 4th player in this class with length and athleticism. As I said before, there is a definite theme to the players being recruited. He has top shelf talent. He has lacked top shelf consistency. By all accounts, this kid can be as good as he wants to be.

Supposedly Mick has told Sanders he is his top target. I say if you can land Aaron Thomas sign him. It is going to be very interesting to see who is next. I love Thomas and Sanders, but I agree with BA1, Sanders signs late (most likely). I like these two because this team needs wings who can score. I have been beating the Aaron Thomas drum long before he went national.

Seagears recently came out with a final 3 of Rutgers, West Virginia, and UC with Rutgers in the lead.

Jerome has a close friend that has already signed with Rutgers and the assistant head coach has close ties to his AAU team. He may well land at Rutgers but he was waiting to be wowed by them. In a recent interview he came off hopeful that Rutgers would convince him but unsure. My impression anyway.

“Hopefully they can do a good job of pitching that to me to where they can sell me enough to commit,” the 6-foot-1, 173-pound Seagears said Wednesday by phone. (zagsblog)

The visit was Thursday and he hasn't commited "yet". Cats are still in the picture for now.

Thomas said on his interview that he will finish course work in January and be on campus next summer. I wonder if can enroll early, like in March, and have 6 months with Dave Andrews in the weight room so he can compete physically in the BE during his freshman campaign. I know some football players do it to be able to play in the spring game and get a head start on their freshman season.

With 2 scholarhips left for 2011, shouldn't the Cats concentrate on Big men (4's and 5's). Right now 4 sholarships are spoken for. If Yancy has a big year, he will likely declare, and that would open up another 'ship. Mick said on his interview with Andy Katz that Yancy is the star of this team, thus it isn't far fetched that he may not be around after next year. Gaines, Jackson, and Ellis would be the only players on the roster as legitimate inside players, with none of them having any likely significant Div 1 experience. If lets says a point guard and Thomas or Sanders commit, then only 1 scholarship would be left to offer a big (if Yancy is gone). I have read on NCAABBs site from a poster who intimated that Khristian Smith may not be part on the final 2011 class, likely opening another 'ship for a big. Bearcat Jeff, have you heard any rumbles to substatiate this rumor?

No I have heard nothing like that, and frankly I doubt a scholarship would have been offered to him so early only to be withdrawn. My opinion is that the Bearcats have Parker, Killa, Cash, Dixon, Guyn, Smith. as guards for sure next season. All but Dixon for the next two. I think Mick would prefer to sign one more wing/swingman or a true pg. I also think he'd like to sign another big but unless it's an Amir Williams type I think it will be a juco or foreign player. Lastly, unless Gates averages 12 to 14 pts. a game and 8 boards, and shows some heart, he will be a Bearcat next season. If he declares there's another open scholly.

Yeah I seriously doubt Yancy will be in the league after this year.

While I'm sure everyone would love to land a stud big man, there just aren't many in this 2011 class, and those few big men are going to the likes of UK, Duke, etc. We are in on a lot of guards/wings so if I were Mick I would just take the best players he can get, regardless of what position they play. I don't think any of us would like Mick to take an average big man just because over a solid guard/wing type player (like Aaron Thomas, Sanders, Carter, McAfee, Barron, Seagears).

Yancy, Jackson, Gaines, and Ellis (maybe Thomas at the 4 for certain times?)would be a good enough front line to get us through the season. Let's hope Mick has some big men targets for 2012 though.

The game has changed. If you have good length and solid guard play you can win a lot of games. With that said I think McAfee will go to Memphis if they want him. Seagears is probably a Rutgers lean but there is an opening for UC since he didn't commit following their in home with him. He was looking to be sold and at least now isn't. If I could have my picks it'd be two of the three from Seagears/Sanders/Thomas. Going to step out and say we'll have another commit by the end of the month from one of the 5 guards on the list. Barron is a darkhorse in all this. Mick really wants a true point and this kid can really finish.

That's the key. I believe the last I heard was Memphis wasn't showing him any love and going after higher profile prospects. I believe his top 3 are UC, Arkansas, and Auburn. Arkansas also got BJ Young who plays the same position so you have to think they are all but eliminated. All of this could change with some attention from Memphis though.

Our New York City Editor Ron Naclerio thinks Thomas is a good catch for the Bearcats, because he's your stereotypical undersized athletic 4-man and he brings that New York City toughness to the table. Currently we have Thomas ranked #14 on our List of the Top 5th Year Players and he joins 6'5 Khristian Smith from Pittsfield (Maine Central Institute) ME, 6'2 Ge-Lawn Guyn from Wolfeboro (Brewster Academy) NH, and 6'8 Octavious Ellis from Memphis (White Station) TN in a recruiting class that is ranked #19 on our list of the Top Recruiting Classes To-Date for the Class of 2011.

SHAQUILLE THOMAS SCORES 40 IN NIA GAME OPENER- PER CHAD BRENDEL..
Wow he scores 40 in a game, all his hard work is paying off. If he keeps this up he might work his way in 5 star status. We all know Jermaine Sanders will be atleast a 4 star and with the possibility of Octavious moving up with jeremiah already in the top 150, Could be a good chance Cincy is in the top ten rankings. Can the news get any better... Great time to be a UC fan ...
