SHAQUILLE THOMAS SCORES 40 IN NIA GAME OPENER- PER CHAD BRENDEL..
Wow he scores 40 in a game, all his hard work is paying off. If he keeps this up he might work his way in 5 star status. We all know Jermaine Sanders will be atleast a 4 star and with the possibility of Octavious moving up with jeremiah already in the top 150, Could be a good chance Cincy is in the top ten rankings. Can the news get any better... Great time to be a UC fan ...

Love the enthusiasm but I think you need to temper your expecations with regards to the 'rankings' and all that jazz. Just remember no matter what the rankings generally mean very little after the top 25 players or so.

it takes a true basketball player to score 40 on any level. this guy looks like an immediate contributor

Agreed... the wrap on Shaq had always been that his potential is enormous but it has yet to translate into steady production... hopefully he breaks out this year and really makes some strides before he even gets to Clifton.

speculation about jermaine sanders jumping up is purely done by contributors to this board who have seen him...not by any rivals/scout guys.

At this point I have no reason to question any of Chad's assessments. Rivals and Scout can drop Sanders to a 2-star player for all I care. I'm confident that he'll be a very good player for the Bearcats.

I agree with you.

HOWEVER, Jermaine plays for a very high profile program (Rice HS) and will have ample opportunity to show his talents on a regional/national stage on many occassions. He may not rise like many of us think he should, but he is a contributor at UC from day one.

Shaq Thomas will be in a position to play right away too. Shaq needs to add weight. I mean, he needs to go "Governator" and slam MuscleMilk for breakfast, lunch and dinner. 20-30 pounds would go a long, long way in helping Shaq become dominant.

Well I've 'Maine in person and on film and he is a very good basketball player. He will contribute immediately. Thomas has sky high potential and BA1 is right. Some bulk added would be huge for him.

agree. my point was that we dont need to put 100% stock in rankings. speculation is completely in house on this one, and whether he rises or falls we know that Cronin believes he is an impact player.

Shaquille Thomas, SF, Nia Prep: The future Cincinnati Bearcat is another guy who is tough to get a full handle on. On one hand, the lengthy 6-foot-6 wing is a superb athlete with rise and quickness. He loves to operate between 12 and 17 feet where he can raise up quickly for jumpers, find cutters or use his quickness to attack the rim. He's still quite skinny, though, and that along with shaky decision-making causes him problems. The talent to make a move up the rankings is certainly there, but in order for that to happen he'll have to show a little more progression with his game and body.

Shaq had 27 points7 reb. ans 5 assist.

Shaq also hit a three (I believe it was a three) to send it to OT and hit the game winner in OT. I don't care what the rankings say, this kid is big time. Sometimes I think the ranking "gurus" look for any little flaw in a player's game just to validate where they had them ranked previously. Shaq can flat out score the ball. Period.

didnt like hearing that we have another guy coming in that makes poor decisions, but other than that the scoop sounds great.

regardless, we have a team filled with suspect decision makers.

You won't have Wilks or Davis back next year so there goes two. Cash has been much much better today. Kilpatrick always makes the right play. Parker is solid. Bishop will be gone and he tends to make some boneheaded plays from time to time. Dixon has been a solid player who hasn't forced anything this year. We'll be fine next year.

We also think it's noteworthy that Cincinnati-bound 6'7 Shaquille Thomas from Newark (Nia Prep) NJ has moved up from #14 to #6 in our Ranking of the Top 5th Year Players. We still have him pegged as an undersized athletic four-man. But, after watching him totally dominant (he averaged 22.5 ppg and 6.0 rpg in two games) at the National Prep Showcase, it's hard not give him his just due. Besides, Bearcats head coach Mick Cronin is an astute evaluator of talent and Cincinnati has made a living off players like this over the years.
