Why the hell are all you guys posting this, if you go to google and type in christopher Obekpa, then christopher obekpa cincinnati will show up on possible next words too fill in afterwards, then if you click on that, bearcattalk.com is one of the top 10 links that shows up on google. If I were him I would think it would be interesting to see what people were saying about me on teams that have websites. Recently all of us have said how much we don't need him and that he wouldn't make a difference. Well if anything you all sound like soar losers and he's just going to say well if they don't want me, than I don't want them. If he isn't looking at these pages then his parents or whoever these "sources"( you guys seem to know like they are your brothers).... are definitely looking at this. He is making the most important decision of his life and you should all respect that, stop getting mad at other blogs that say they will get him, know one really knows whats happening, I know all of you guys like to think you know what is happening, but you don't. I like to think that this blog is better than giving the 77th best player in the country..... (our best would be commit since Lance Stephenson) a hard time because he is a good basketball player and can't decide where to spend the best 4 years of his life.

If any parents\advisers consult team message boards as a source for deciding whether their son\prospect should go to a certain school I say they should not be advising them. A bunch of over emotional fans on the internet do not have weight and should not have weight in that decision. Location, education, style of play, relationship with coaching staff, campus, current team, on court success, exposure, and conference are all decent subjects to consider when choosing a school. A team message board is not. This forum is precisely for speculation, venting, celebrating, and discussion of opinion. If it happens your opinion is not a positive one then so be it. If the student makes a decision based on a message board I would just have to laugh.

Totally agree.

It's ironic that the same people that says message board caused mick to lose out on Teague are the ones in this thread bad mouthing a recruit.

While I want him to decide ASAP, that is selfish. It's his choice and he can wait as long as he wants.

And let's not kid ourselves, having this kid on the team would likely make our team significantly better due to his defense. It would allow cash, etc to take even more risks and get even more steals and steals = easy buckets.

So let's stop bad mouthing the kid and his "handlers" and just wait and see what happens. As I said before, of he wants to play for a team that has a chance to play for a championship, from his list, he has got to pick UC.

Or he could look at it and say "wow, there's over a 70 page thread about me. I must be really wanted there." There's probably 5 or so pages with people questioning him about dragging out his decision, and about 65 pages of people saying how bad they want him.

My whole point of that reply was saying that none of you guys have any idea what you are talking about, and by you guys saying things you have no idea about, it could definitely upset a kid that is going to go here. There's no way I believe his decision is going to come down to this message board, but this is in my opinion the best message board for uc basketball, and he is probably looking at it, and if I was in his shoes and i hear fans who think they are experts say "we don't need him" then maybe they are right and maybe i should go somewhere else..... The way I look at it is the actual basketball part of the message board say whatever you want. But on the recruiting part....... ABSOLUTELY none of you know any of these kids and if you don't have anything nice to say shut up, cuz some of us actually want this kid on our team and by you saying negative comments only hurts our chances.

We're just frustrated. UC goes from being in the lead to who knows where on the kids list. And we don't hear from Obekpa himself. We hear from an assistant coach of all people who makes comments like he's playing games with all those interested. It seems to me this assistant coach has gotten the frustrated response by fans he intended to create by fogging up the big picture of where Obekpa might go. I'm sure the message boards of the other schools exude some frustration too. Or maybe if their school wasn't in the running, they are now happy thinking they have a chance.

Less games and a straightforward response is all we're asking for.

No potential recruit owes the fans anything...least of all a straightforward response. Maybe he doesn't have a straight answer. Maybe he does, but doesn't want to say. Either way, his prerogative.

I would say he owes it to the coaches that have recruited him to inform them if he's made a decision, but even then, it comes secondary to him doing what's best for him and his family.

Was hoping he was gonna commit to Oregon. That could potentially hurt us, as they will most likely go all out for Obekpa now.

If he goes elsewhere, I hope it is Oregon. I don't want to play against him.

If he chooses UC, my excitement has cooled on him.

This ideology is ridiculous. You are talking about 18 year old kids. If he decides to be a UC Bearcat I will be just as happy as if he signed in November or even last week. If he goes elsewhere, good luck except for any game against UC.

I wish people would stop telling other people what to do. If you don't care he has taken so long great for you. But just because someone does not have the same opinion does not mean it is wrong.

I'm amazed at how low our expectations are for high school seniors these days. I expect my children to behave a little different then most of you I guess. I know they are still immature but you should be able to make a decision like this by now. How is this kid ever going to decide what class to take or what parking spot to park in or where to eat. Oh shoot I forgot he is a basketball player so someone will be holding his hand to make sure he has the right classes, parks his new car in his reserved spot and so he can eat at his all you can eat buffet:)

The point of a message board is to discuss, sometimes with agreement and often with disagreement.

Making decisions on day to day issues or what major to pick, or what class, those are all controllable situations that I would expect an 18 year old to make decisive resolution on. But choosing a basketball coach/program to play for, the kid is giving up a lot of control and entrusting his future to a program/system that he's only seen on a limited basis. Putting myself in his situation, I would make damn sure I'm completely comfortable with my decision before going public with it...and I certainly would not make a rushed decision to appease others.

picking a parking space and picking a college........ good comparison..... I hope your kids do get a better education than you, so we will have less moron's in this world.

Lets be honest here we ALL want him to be a bearcat.
I think the thing we have been missing for a long time as Bearcat fans is having that middle of the court shot blocking presence we had for years, i.e. kenyon, donald little, corey blount etc.
Getting this recruit would be our first legit looking shot blocker and it would be great.
I am with everyone saying go ahead and choose already.
I think Mick is smart enough to have 2 or more back up plans on him for the next 2 years.
It is a frustrating process for everyone on this site seems to be pretty knowelgable fans of UC.
Thus all of US know that Oregon is a joke of a program and there must be something behind the scenes for them to be in the picture -whether it be Nike or kentucky stalling etc. on Noels.
Bottom line is LOVE to get him since he seems to thrive on DFENSE but i trust more players that see UC play the next 2 years with Killpatrick they will want to be bearcats as well!

I'm not sure what calling other forum members names really does for you but seems a little classless to me. Seems like something a gangsta fan would do.

Relax guy. Let the the kid make his decision. He loves uc but maybe he wants to check all his options. He is allowed to do whatever he wants.
I would absolutely Love to have him and would be pissed if we didn't get him but it is not my place to judge him and it's not yours or anyone else's on this board.

I hope he picks soon so I can check this thread without seeing mindless drivel.
