Mick would be stupid to try to force his hand. At this point it's more than likely Obekpa or save the scholly, so Mick has the ability to let it play out. Not to mention by all accounts UC has been the leader for a while so why would he do something that might compromise that?

There are a number of reasons a prospect would sign early. Some want to get it over with and know where they want to play. While it can be beneficial to the player to just sign scholarship papers, unless you are the cream of the crop a team will sign another player if at all possible.

Good point, should have qualified my comments to say the cream of the crop recruits. They are most likely the ones that wouldn't have to worry about being recruited over.

It is especially good for big men to wait. Late in the process they are WAY overvalued. A guy like Chris Obekpa who is probably a top 50-75 recruit could get elevated to top 25 status.

All signs point to 6-9 Chris Obekpa of Our Savior New American landing at Cincinnati, multiple sources told @SNYtv.Today is last signing day

Jeff, I'm confused. Are you saying TODAY is the last day to sign LOI? Did Adam say this TODAY. Is it still your opinion Obekpa will land in Cincy?

I posted the tweet to illustrate that there are many people very close to recruiting who believe Obekpa will be a Bearcat. As things stand now I believe he will be as well.

Whether he ends up in Cincinnati or Eugene, it could be an interesting side story should the two teams play in Vegas.

In my daily "Obekpa" Google news searches, it tells me he's balling in an AAU tournament (which I'm sure is not a surprise to many on this board). My speculation (and nothing else) is that he's on a Chris Obekpa road show and waiting for a top 10 team to pounce.

Again, I do not believe the wait is him.
