Wow. Way to go out on a limb. It will be Cincy or St. John's or some other school?

In other words, he's going somewhere.

Good job. That was a really hard prediction for you, I can tell.

I hate idiots like this. Go back to New York, please.

Seriously this was just wrong and uncalled for. I would think an appology would be in line here. :( I know he kind of attacked Jeff at first and I was a little upset about that but then he righted the ship. Jeff can handle his own battles without you writing stuff like this.

Personally I hope he just goes to a school outside of the BigEast so we don't have to see or hear about him if he does not come here. This is worse than General Hospital. Good news is that we are on page like 87. At 100 we should have a decision.

I'm looking for it. I thought it was a Zagoria interview, but the handlers words were something like, "a lot of times kids like one place the most but end up somewhere else."

I'll keep searching.

Yea, I read that article at the time but I don't think that is what the coach was referring to. He was saying that you "hear" that stuff about a kid, meaning don't believe every rumor you hear.

This is comical, fans of a team who had huggy bear as coach are claiming insider knowledge of Steve Lavin's improprieties on the recruiting trail. LMAO!!!:D

Because of him we've had some decent practice at spotting improprieties. (kidding, please don't get worked up over this)

Whether anyone on here has inside knowledge or not, your post makes zero sense. Being a fan of a team coached by Huggins and having inside knowledge of a recruiting situation are completely independent of each other.

Newsflash, huggins is and was as shady as they come! But of course you see things through" irish "rose colored glasses.

First off, Huggs' issues dealt mostly with the character of the young men he recruited, not the nature of the recruiting itself. So you're making an apples to oranges comparison when discussing possible recruiting improprieties.

Secondly, Bob Huggins hasn't been head coach at Cincy for almost 7 years...and yet you bring his name into a contemporary argument between 2 schools, neither of which has any recent affiliation with the man. A flawed concept at best.

Finally...let's say Huggs was still coaching Cincy, and you were 100% right. Wanna cookie? That has nothing to do with Lavin and we are free to criticize and speculate on him independently all we want.

You are right. Bringing up Huggins has nothing to do with modern times. However it is your right to criticize Lavin all you want but criticizing and speculation are 2 words that don't belong together . Have a reason to criticize at least.

The most substantiated allegation against Huggs that I ever saw was regarding him blowing the whistle on O$U giving improper benefits to Damon Flint and then securing his commitment. And those allegations were hardly substantiated. With the hard on that the NCAA had for Bob, if they could have pinned something on him, they would have.

Remember, Huggs won with guys that weren't blue chippers. Kenyon, Hicks, Logan, and a bunch of Jucos, for the most part. Outside of Wingfield, Demarr, Fortson or Ksatt, there weren't obvious NBA guys signing on in some shocking manner. Wingfield came on after the final four run, Demarr and satt came on for a shot at a NC, and Fortson came because Bob out-drank some other coach at a restaurant at a table with Danny's father/guardian. Everyone else was developed..

But yeah, totally irrelevant here...

heres the real fact. even insiders here have no idea if st. john's is offering obekpa money because they are not present to see transactions, you have no idea if huggins paid players, nor do any of us have any idea that cronin does or doesn't pay players.

anyone can speculate all they want though though, but making definitive statements either way is useless because everyone here is at least a few degrees removed from the lavin or cronin or huggins and don't know for a fact what is actually happening.

Fair enough, but I've criticized and speculated on different topics independently. I criticized his player development while speculating that he's trying to build a program in the mold of Cal/Kentucky. So in this case, the words go together just fine.

Obekpa isn't going to make or break this program any more than Chane Behanon or Marquis Teague did (although both would've been nice to have). This year's team will be fine without him so long as we get some development out of Gaines and Mbodj, and the '13-'14 season hinges on next year's recruiting class and the development of Guyn, Shaq, and JD III. Obekpa is a good player and would fit in nicely here, but if he would rather play in NYC with a lesser team (for this season, at least) so be it. Keep in mind I'm not ragging SJU but just making a comment on the team outlooks for the upcoming season. Good freshmen or no, things seem kind of hit or miss in Jamaica right now.

I really hope everyone is wrong. I want obekpa to be a bcat. He would fit this team perfectly

What has evet been said regarding Lavin at ucla as head coach or asst, nothing! So all of a sudden he's gonna bank his rep on a fringe top 75 6'9 center? Ok

Get out of here you Xavier fan.

Enjoy being at the bottom of your high school league

Do I "know" something? Can't say with 100% certainty. Do I have information? Yes! Will I share it publicly? No! If you don't wanna read what we share go to another board. It's not over till he signs and with his recruitment we have seen anything is possible. What I know for a fact is UC has led for some time and St. Johns, in spite of a visit there, in March I believe, had been pushed down to the "also" in the mix category that is like the friend zone of recruiting. Now stories are popping up every where that out of the blue St. Johns stepped back in and Bam! they lead. I also know for a fact that Chris himself has wanted to be a Bearcat for some time now and his handlers have continued to shield him and try and steer him to other opportunities. I've reported this for weeks. What suddenly made St. Johns more attractive? All I know is you can put make up on an ugly girl but underneath she's still ugly. You can date her but sooner or later the make up comes off and you see the truth.

Guys with or without Chris Obekpa this is a top 25 team and will be very good next season. He has enormous defensive potential. However, at 220 lbs., he is not coming in and anchoring the 5 spot right away. Hopefully the rumors are false and he becomes a Bearcat, plays his role this season, and is on the roster competing for a starting spot next season. If he doesn't UC will be fine and keep winning and look to 2013 for another big. If Harrell leaves Louisville uncommitted Saturday he is still an option fo 2012. Good luck Chris whoever you choose.

Thats my whole point! You could of pm'd Lobot back and forth without posting "hey did you hear the secret information?" crap on the public forum. You guys always do this, its schoolyard "I know something you don't." You want people to see your posts and pawn over you for your information. Like Lobot talking to the junior member. I'm not even that interested in your paysite rumors I'm just calling both of you out for baiting other posters.

I'm not in it for ego as you seem to be suggesting and I'm not copping to baiting as you put it. I will say that I'm probably guilty of a tease which is becoming a bad habit for me. BTW that junior member had a lot of information that was well worthwhile PM'ing him for. That is all.
