Thanks for the clarification. I thought that may be the case with Crowell but wasn't sure. However, I thought I did read somewhere that all athletic scholarships were only one year, but renewable. Could be mistaken though.

Most schools are like this with Scholarships being 1 year agreements that are renewable every year. Some schools, like quite a few Big 10 schools, have changed to a scholarship being a 4 year commitment from the school.

So which current player would be the most likely to not have their scholarship renewed?

Tough to say...Presumably the coaching staff would start with a player who is unhappy in the first place, but I'm not sure I see anyone, at least from the outside, that fits this mold. Maybe its how upfront Cronin is with the players when they sign, but each player seems to be happy with their role and striving for a larger one.

I imagine it would be an easier choice if this kid was amazing, but he didn't put up amazing numbers at Rice. Tough to say what Davis or Sanders could have done in C-USA...

Starting in a top 10 league in D1 is tough. A kid that scores 8 plus ppg and hands out over 4 apg as a freshman has some talent. Not to mention the 4 rpg. That's a nice contribution from a freshman pg gentlmen.

Sorry, I didn't realize Rice was a basketball powerhouse. Or all the other schools that initially were recruiting him.

He can play. People miss on players all the time and he is a true pg. I'm not saying he is all BEast. I am saying he is a solid player who is a pass first lead guard with a year of experience in a top ten rpi league. Villanova isn't too bad a program and Jay Wright has an eye for guard talent and they want him.

There was already an agreement between Cronin and Crowell that it was a one year deal. The thing I like about Mick is he very honest with the players he is recruiting. That is why the only player who ended up transferring was Alvin Mitchell, but that was because of attitude/behavioral problems. No one has elected to transfer due to lack of playing time because the kids understand what they are getting to when they commit. As for this situation, I am trusting the staff that they know how this will all play out.

Of course the kid has "some" talent. The question is does he have top tier Big East talent? His overall numbers were good, his numbers against good competition were not. Maybe the kid is a stud, but I think they are going after him because of his brother.

if nothing else, it can be a way to impress the family. bring him on campus, say all the right things- then if obekpa commits say that his scholarship was taken by another guy who committed first. get the parents/brother in uc's corner.

Totally agree.

Alex Kline: Ennis finished his visit to Villanova. He will likely visit Cincinnati next.

Per Ennis's Twitter: "Philly def treated me good"

Didn't nova already get a commitment from a pretty high ranked pg this year?

Yes. Ryan Arcidiacano ranked 57 overall on rivals. Although the way Jay Wright has succeeded with his guard based offense in the past, he could easily dismiss that if it was a concern for Ennis.
