I don't really get the scholarship situation.

UC has 2 scholarships available for 2012 class. Rubles has taken 1. One left.

Yet Mick is entertaining Obekpa, Ennis, and possibly transfer Rodney Hood? How does he make room?

Or is it a priority list of 1. Obekpa 2. Hood and 3. Ennis? What if he could get all 3?

Of course Hood would have to sit out a year, but would he pay his own way?

You never stop recruiting. Always have to have a contingency plan in place if things dont work out your way. Recruiting is fluid and unpredictable things happen all the time. If you dont get obekpa, improve your team in at another position where you are lacking depth. Cant afford to just get nothing because your top targets dont work out. My guess is he only adds one more player......

that is a problem you worry about if you have all of them tell you they want to attend there. ennis is said to favor nova and while uc might get hood's ear- he is definitely a long shot. if our recent history is any indication, we don't get a lot of the player's we hone in on and pursue. i'm sure this will all work itself out just fine.

Following his weekend visit to Villanova, Rice transfer Dylan Ennis is currently visiting Cincinnati, per a source.

I don't think Hood is that high either in terms of priority or in terms of likelihood. I think he's a backup plan for us and a priority at some other (possibly bigger) schools. Doesn't seem like a likely match. That is just my opinion though. As for Obekpa/Ennis, we wouldn't be the first team to find a way to fit in 2 guys to 1 spot if it came to that. I hate to see guys run out of the program or asked to pay their own way, but we've seen it around the country.

Recruiting is about targeting players but it is also about getting good players. There is a reason you target multiple players. You may miss on the ones you would prefer. Plus, you don't want to strike out. The recruiting is still targeted. There are just multiple players involved and as of now one spot. If one were to commit before the other you have to ask a question of what you want or force a decison and then decide. I think this is the best late recruiting Mick has done as far as being in on multiple good players in an area of need.

I appreciate the update...but how often do we hear of a bad visit? Can you give us a better idea of just how well he liked it?

That's a hard question to answer. Not many guys pull a Rubles and make their twitter handle include the name of the school they just visited. He seemed to like the players, coaches, etc.. He was surprised by the campus and city. It is UC/Villanova at this point. He thinks UC has a very good team and thinks he could start next season.

You mean start in 2013-14, right?

I don't see the NCAA waiving the mandatory year off for transfers.

Well, I'm dreaming, but I'd love for Obekpa to sign, and then Ennis to transfer to UC. Cash graduates after next season, and Ennis would be the perfect fit at replacement PG for UC. JDIII and Guyn could migrate to the 2 and 3 positions and backup PG. It would really strengthen the guard situation in the coming years and Mick could concentrate on 3's and 4's in the upcoming classes.

Totally wish Hood would transfer here too. The amount of talent on the UC team would be unprecedented in the last 5 to 8 years.

I'm not pretending to be an expert or anything and I know Obepka is pretty highly touted, but to me it seems that Ennis is a better fit for what we need or more importantly what we are lacking. I know we're not strong at the 4/5 positions, but we not exactly lacking depth. PG is a position we are lacking depth, especially with Cash being a senior. If Obepka were a better offensive threat I would have a completely different opinion, but a large part of me would rather land Ennis if we only get one. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but does anyone else share these sentiments? Regardless, whoever is the first to agree to sign I would happily take. Don't want to tell someone no and find the other guy goes elsewhere, then you miss both. And I just have a feeling that if Obepka were going to come here he would've signed already. To still be holding out at this point and taking such a late visit to Oregon of all places (not exactly a powerhouse) makes me think he's chasing a paycheck or something. Just my opinion.
