SK, Dion Dixon, etc. were all relatively unknown and turned out to be solid players. Hopefully, Strickland can follow this mold......

Dixon and SK were not unknown quantities. They were not considered top shelf but neither were they obscure. Both garnered respect in different corners.

This kid wasn't unknown either. He was on his way to being potentially a highly rated recruit until he got hurt.

Who else offered him this year? Not trying to stir anything up just wondering really.

There weren't many offers as a result of his injuries in HS however there were many interested schools prior to it. He was far from unknown but not highly recruited due to the injuries.

Excerpt from an article I posted a few months ago:

At this early stage, he has Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Missouri, Oklahoma, UNC, Washington, Washington State, and Villanova as his favorites because he grew up watching these programs and likes their style of play.

This was after his first ACL tear. Pretty encouraging list, he clearly has potential. If he can continue to work on his game, stay healthy, and improve conditioning, he could be a very solid player for us. Definitely the most interesting player in this class, nothing would surprise me as far as he goes. Just want people to be aware that just because he didn't have big offers before we signed him doesn't mean he wasn't sought after before his injuries.

Something is missing here. Team USA and no big offers. I know the knees are bad but where are the offers. Seems shady to me. Heard he's talented though..

Can't get offers after he already signed. That's what is missing, he even said that he should've waited longer before committing because he was getting calls from big time schools that were asking about his availability. I think we nabbed him before the bigger offers could come in.

Cant get offers after being signed?? How sure are you about that JJ?

NLOI, gotta get let out of it. Plus, after he signs that LOI, nobody cares what offers you get. Technically, like JackBauer said, he can still get offers, but it won't matter. Once you sign the LOI, it's pretty tough to get out of it.

He got offered to play on the under-23 elite national team. Maybe that should say enough to you that he was worthy of a scholly.

I think you may be reading too deeply into the question. Nobody is saying he is or isn't worthy, what they're saying is they don't know. Up until we offered, I'd never really heard of him either. That said, he looks pretty coordinated, has good footwork and a nice touch. He's also got some pretty decent size to him.
People just want to know who he is and what to expect, no need to get defensive about it...

Exactly. I'm interested how all these big time recruiters missed him...

He had two surgeries to repair his ACL causing him to miss his junior and senior year. Then when he finally rehabbed enough to come back he was really out of shape. Still showed skill but nothing that would catch the eye of any high major coach. Then he went prep where he finally got back into basketball shape. Started dominating at Queen City Prep and UC was the first high major to take notice early on in his season. Jamaree took a visit and committed. Nothing was missed by other coaches. He is just one of those kids whose circumstances kept him out of the limelight. UC was lucky enough to find him early and get him to commit before the other big boys got involved.
