Quentin Snider
Point guard
Louisville, Kentucky
Ballard
AAU: Louisville Magic
Ht:6'1"
Wt:150 lbs
Class:2014 (High School)

Snider is always been a clever point guard and this hasn’t changed. Right now he’s considered the number 1 floor general in Kentucky. Quentin’s court vision is tremendous and his handle is very quick. Snider will be headed to the AAU Nationals in Orlando and look for him to put on a show down there.

Ballard High School sophomore Quentin Snider is the point guard for the Louisville Magic team that has won a pair of events already this July.

The 6-foot-1 Snider has drawn some college attention and was watched by some of the elite coaches in the game in Indianapolis and at the Kentucky HoopFest.

"It’s a little pressure with all the coaches when they come and watch," he said. "I just try and play hard and play my game, but it’s some pressure."

After one game at the adidas Invitational, Snider laughed when asked if he took a peek into the stands to see what coaches were watching.

"Yeah, I looked," he said. "I saw Michigan, Michigan State, Louisville and Indiana. It feels good to have the coaches come and watch me."

Snider, who played as an eighth grader on the varsity level at Fern Creek, already has one offer - Tennessee Tech and hopes to add more soon.

"I feel like it’s going to come," Snider said.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino, Kentucky coach John Calipari and Indiana coach Tom Crean all watched the Magic play during the adidas event.

Has reopened up his recruiting. Has not contacted any schools yet. Not sure if Mick was involved at all prior to his commitment to UL.

Chad Brendel said he had heard that Cincinnati had reached out. Some think he is gonna head to IU.

I personally think he reopened his commitment because UL brought in another highly ranked PG in this class. Anyone know who IU has committed so far. I have a feeling that will have as much to do with where he goes as anything else.

The addition of JaQuon Lyle certainly didn't help the situation, but there has been some concern from Snider and his dad over the large number of guards coming in to UL for a while now. Eventually it goes from healthy competition for a spot to a sheer numbers game that doesn't add up...

Former Louisville Commit Snider Planning Visits
August 3rd, 2013 6:14 pm
Since decommitting from Louisville this past week, Quentin Snider has been besieged with phonecalls.

Now the Louisville Ballard point guard and his family are focusing on a few schools to visit.

His father, Scott Snider, told SNY.tv Saturday Quentin will likely visit Indiana and Xavier unofficially by the end of August, and is also planning official visits to UCLA, USC and UConn.

“Right now he’s got offers from Minnesota, Marquette, West Virginia, USC, Illinois, Loyola Marymount, UConn, Texas A&M, UCLA, Vanderbilt and Memphis,” Scott said.

“He’s getting some interest from Michigan State, Indiana, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Purdue, Butler, Xavier and Manhattan.”

Scott said they would drive to schools that are close — such as Indiana and Xavier — for unofficial visits.
“We told Indiana we’d come for a visit there and we talked to Xavier and we’ll visit there, too,” Scott said. “We haven’t got a date for either one of them. We just said we’ll try to get there by the end of August or the beginning of September.

“Those we’ll take unofficials,” Scott said.

UCLA, USC and UConn are in the mix for official visits.

“We’ll probably visit UCLA and USC and probably visit UConn also,” he said. “Probably those three.”

No dates have been set for those.

As for the decommitment from Louisville, Scott said the Cardinals simply had too many point guards in the mix with Chris Jones and Terry Rozier.

“It got to the point where it got really, really crowded at that position,” he said. “It was just something where the situation changed after he committed.”

According to the Lexington Herald Quentin Snider and his father will be visiting Cincinnati and Xavier this month for unofficial's and Indiana for an official.

Any visit date set yet I really like this kid

Snider doesn't appear to be an elite athlete, but he has exactly the type of skill set this team is missing. With that being said, UCLA is recruiting him very hard and he has a visit scheduled for next week (Aug 30).

Also, if Kentucky doesn't get Tyus, they will probably put on the full court press for Snider.

"Scott Snider, the player’s father, told the Herald-Leader on Saturday night that the family will take an unofficial to Cincinnati sometime this week, then fly to UCLA for an official visit starting Friday. The following weekend will include an unofficial visit to Memphis. The Sniders have also set up an official visit to UConn for Sept. 20 and an unofficial visit to Illinois for Sept. 27."
