'15 MD PG Justin Jenifer (Commit)

The good thing is, the other guards we're recruiting are shooting guards, right? I don't know of any other elite PGs we're going after. It shouldn't hurt the likes of Beasley, Mitchell, etc.

Evans is PG and I think someone said the other day that Mitchell is working at PG.

One thing I don't see mentioned very often is that Justin is outstanding academically. I like the idea of a high IQ guy as our point guard. I really hope he commits this weekend.

Ugh I hate feeling this way. It's not that I dont like him. I think there are a lot of skills there that can be worked with. I think his size, speed, and shooting ability are suspect for a high major guard. I just like him the least of all the PG's the Bearcats are recruiting. Trust the staff I suppose if they decide to accept a commitment from Jenifer should he want to do that.

I think we land Jenifer. He's a great passer and ball handler which are 2 of the biggest qualities you look for in a PG. He is undersized, but has a high IQ which is another great trait in a PG. A couple years in speed and strength program and he could be great player for UC.

Evans is/was definitely our top PG prospect, but I suspect that might be a long shot. I agree that we just gotta trust the staff on this one.

I'm coming around on him. He is definitely a long term guy imo which would maybe be best for a guy of his size adjusting to big time D-1. With 3 scholarships left, and only losing 2 guys this year, I think he can be part of a great class. We have him on campus, let's lock him down.

I think he could be a good fit. He will have 1 year behind Cobb and 2 behind caupain KJ and 3 morman. He wouldn't be the only guard we land in this class so there's one or 2 more. If and I say this more of my video game mentality. But if he redshirts his freshmen year being so many guards in front of him he would have 2 years in the program to watch caupain. If Jennifer has the basketball IQ some believe he can learn a lot. And by the time his junior or senior year could be a true floor general

We are in the same boat.

I also had/have my concerns with Jenifer (size/speed/shooting), but I'm also coming around to him as well. I guess it's a good thing if your fan base is questioning a top 100ish player - that says you're in a good spot as a program. He just led the Pangos All American Camp with 7 APG. There are also two other positives here:

- It's always nice to have a PG locked up first. Other recruits want to play with good recruits, and it has to help with scoring wings like Mitchell, Beasley, Cheatham, etc. that they will have a pass first PG coming in with them. It wouldn't hurt that he could start recruiting some guys as well.

- He's been calling UC his leader for about 6-7 months now. He seems to really want to be a Bearcat. Rooting for kids like that is really enjoyable.

*This is all assuming he has a good visit and comes here.

Great point. I didn't think about that part of it at all.

Has Jenifer ever publicly stated when he's looking to commit? I get that he's a UC lean, and a lot of people are thinking/hoping he leaves this visit a bearcat; I'm just wondering where it's coming from. Has he ever said he wants to commit this early?

He has a final 3 so I'd say after those 3 visit he will decide if he doesn't commit this weekend.

If he does end up committing this weekend, does that push away some of the other highly-touted recruits away from us? Such as Beasley, Mitchell, Evans?

Definitely won't impact our chances with Beasley. I'd guess that it is too early to tell for other PG. I would love to get Jenifer and Beasley/Cheatham/Alston this fall and then play the season and use the last scholarship in the spring for either best available player or a guy to fill a big need (who knows how this year will actually play out).

Jenifer and Beasley just recently started following each other on twitter. They played together last week at the Pangos All American camp. So a commitment from Jenifer could potentially help with Beasley.

I like to hear that. I'm not sure there's a better recruiting tool than friends that want to play together. I'd love a commitment from Jenifer as he leaves. If you wanted to follow him, his Twitter handle is ‏@round3_
