From what I've seen you recruit to who you lose so if Cobb is a sg then you recruit a sg. There is not spots up for grabs when you have upperclassmen on micks team, upperclassmen always start.

Except when you have Freshmen that deserve to start (Clark, Vaughn, Stephenson). When is the last time that the best player at a certain position didn't start? Honestly think about that for a minute.

This happens every time we miss out on a recruit. People want to reevaluate the program. I can't even think about giving anyone around the program a hard time till after this upcoming season. This has the potential to be the most exciting season in over a decade. Maybe if we crap the bed this year, sure, reevaluate. But people that should be really hard on their programs are the ones that just went 15-17, not teams looking at basically a shoe-in for a 6th straight NCAA appearance.

He's the same size as Justin Jenifer, but outside of wide open threes not nearly as skilled. He would have had to up his game to ever be a starter here, and there's a good chance he will never start at Marquette either. Remember it's easy to average big numbers when you score 76 in two games against mighty Liberty. In their biggest game of the year against Coastal Carolina he scored 14 on 3-9 shooting. He is an outstanding free throw shooter though.

But if he wouldn't start here or at Marquette, why did he lean Marquette's way?

I completely agree with this. I'm not concerned one bit about where this program is now or where it will be in the near or distant future.

We didn't have any upperclassmen to start in front of Clark this year.

So are you saying he didn't deserve to start because my point still stands: When a freshman has started under Mick, that player has deserved to start. Period.

If Clark and Justin Jackson were on the same team together Clark is a freshman and Jackson as a senior who do you think would start?

From what Mick's brother stated, the staff sold Rowsey on replacing Cobb at the 2 and backup 1. Maybe Marquette said you will come here and play or at least compete for the PG spot? Look, Troy has earned his stripes as the PG and I am sure Rowsey didn't see the opportunity to replace Troy in Troy's senior year. Rowsey wants to be a PG. Not a big deal. Let's move on.

I'd have an easier time moving on if I felt like there was even 1 solid player we were in the lead for to use one of the 6 scholarships we have over the next year.

Spring recruiting is overrated. It is a bunch of schools going after a couple decent fish. Sure, Lance was a great pick up in the Spring but the vast majority of high quality players (HS) are guys that sign in November. I don't lose sleep over transfers. They rarely make that much of a difference in the end anyway.

This past year with KJ over Cobb. The year before with Guyn over Caupain. There is also a very real chance that we could we see it again this year with Shaq/KJ over Evans at the starting 3/backup 2.

I didn't say that's the only reason but it plays a part. You, me not anyone else knows the full story of why. What we do know is he targeted Jenifer, Evans and Scott and He landed all three. I'm no different than the rest of you. I called the spring a failure. I simply don't feel like some of you that the program is in the doldrums. There are things to be excited about in my opinion. For example all but one contributing player returning for the coming season. The world doesn't end because Andrew Rowsey went to Marquette in part because he wants to play exclusively pg.

As far as the rainbows and unicorns comments above, nobody said that either. Things do need to change and I pointed that out a couple days ago. There is a philosophical mindset that has an effect on recruiting, but the fact remains there is reason to be believe the upcoming season can be a very good season.

And please tell me who you're going to bring in to change all this? It is what it is. I choose to see the positive. Beat the "all is lost" drum is you want I won't do that. I think the team as it stands wins the league and makes an NCAA run.

You are using a whole lot of hyperbole and putting words into peoples mouths. Nobody is saying the world is ending. And you are right, we don't know the fully story, but only some are pretending they do. What I do know, is that recruiting has been lackluster. The "why's" are merely excuses.

I think they should be good next season. At this point I don't know how good because of how inconsistent they were last year and because of Mick's defensive philosophy (which isn't changing). But that doesn't mean recruiting has been good. They've made the sweet 16 once in like 10 years, that isn't anything to write home about.

"What we do know is he targeted Jenifer, Evans and Scott and He landed all three."

I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean. Has UC ever landed a player that they didn't target?

I find it funny that Rowsey is now the second coming. Look, he is a nice player and would have been a nice addition. He is NOT the missing piece to a deep tourney run. I'm not losing any sleep over this. He picked Marquette. Good luck to him. I'm moving on.

On a side note, Evans was recruited to play SG. Next year he may see some time at the 3 just because of our roster makeup. Someone said it earlier that guards fall off trees. It is so true. I'm not all that concerned about missing out on this one player.

I cautioned everyone early on that both he and Izbolu (already forget his name) were likely overhyped. My concern isn't as much as missing out on them but the fact that they seem to really struggle to land their primary targets and they have very few options outside of those two. Mick didn't coach this year which was to his advantage recruiting wise and still has come away empty so far.

He is exactly right.

Mick's brother is a nut and proves it over and over on twitter. He also says conference affiliation played no factor (I'm sure it played some) and that he doesn't worry about guards because there are a ton of them. Maybe quantity, but not quality.

Exactly, a couple months ago Jenifer was our missing piece and he's going to take over for PG as a freshman cause he's so good, now Jenifer wouldn't even play because Rowsey is so great.

It's rather hilarious reading all this junk. I guess some dudes just have to create drama at all times to keep themselves entertained.
