Coach I think the need for next year is a big who can back up Washington. Need someone who can buy some time for Brooks to develop. It would also let Washington slide over to the 4 on occasion when Clark isn't on the floor. At least one of the two schollys left have to go to a guy who can back up our bigs. Not willing to risk a potentially great season on a true freshman in Brooks or Scott and Moore with so many transfers out there.

I'm with you Waite.

I'm with you Waite.
Jake posted this on the Reds thread for you. Just wanted to make sure you saw it.

Jake thought this might interest you.

Riley Pint pitched last night. Went into the fifth inning before he hit his pitch count

4+ IP
72 pitches
0 R
2 H
4 BB
6 K

Hit 99 on the gun 3 times in the first, sat 95-97 throughout. Had a good curve, but I didn’t hear anything about the changeup in this outing as of yet. From the description of it, it sounds like he was working on the curve.

So does UC go for a grad transfer who can help fill a void this current year or do we get the Martin twins and roll with what we got this year.

It's tough because this year's squad could use an addition but I really want the Martin twins.
Don't forget we still have tre scott that's coming in this year. I don't know what he will bring but hopefully he worked on his preparation for this coming season.

In a lot of ways he will be the exact opposite of Moore. He will bring energy, hit the glass and play defense. he will also need to put on some weight. a illness cost him some of the weight he put on prior to coming to UC. Moore is very much focused on offense. Never seeing a shot he didn't think he could make. Should be interesting to see how each progresses.

Looks like he really understands going right at the body of bigger defenders. I like how he attacks.

Wow! Excellent body control and change of pace. He does look a lot like Van Exel. Not sure how good his handles are or his shooting % but if he can get to the rack and create shots for himself that is enough to be dangerous. He's really quick. Hope he can pass too.

On the surface, it looks like a good signing. However, he's only a 31% shooter from three. 2.9 assists/3.8 TO per game. 5 rebounds per game is impressive and 2 steals. This wa all against weak competition. But, on the other hand, his supporting cast was probably pretty weak as well I imagine the opposing teams focused their defenses to stop him. With players around him with talent, he may really blossom.

How much did the offense rely on him? did he have the ball in his hands at almost all times? was he forced to take a bunch of shots with the shotclock ticking down?

Some of his quotes in this article really have me excited

The only big name schools he played against were UCONN and Northwestern. He scored 7 against UCONN on 3 of 16 shooting in 37 minutes and 26 against Northwestern.

Of course, we all hope he has two outstanding seniors (Washington/Clark), a great Junior (Evans), and a hopefully great Sophomore (Cumberland) around him. With all the help, he may be a totally different player in a good way. If we have a great season next year, this could all get blown up with some of these guys possibly throwing their names into the NBA hat. That's an un-Mick like thing to do, but any one of these guys could develop to the point of that being at least feasible in my opinion. I also think you guys are prematurely giving up on Jenifer. I think we'll see a vastly different player next year, and one that will be a pretty big contributor. I'm still going with the skills that I saw in that pre-season scrimmage. If I have to go down with this ship, that is something I am prepared to do. I'm banking on Mick giving this guy a tad more freedom to create next year and not being so quick to yank him on a single mistake like he did this year. I think Mick was obsessed for this to be the special season we've all longed for and it just didn't come together. Jenifer was one of the players that fell victim to everything not coming together. I'm hoping the chemistry next year will be different and Jenifer will be one of the players who will surprise us.

agree he has some thinks he can improve on. I do like his chances for improvement especially with the players he will have around him. I like the signing. He'll be a very interesting player to watch.

Like you I hope JJ comes along. Can never have to much talent. Players generally work harder when they have someone pushing them. We will also need a improved JJ to help in spots for this years team.

I would credit this to how much he had the ball in his hands. His usage % last season was 31.2%. That's higher than Kilpatrick's senior season.

So, Broome was essentially the only option for SH last year. Give him the year off to work on his shot, I bet he could shoot 35-38% from 3. The A/TO should vastly improve with a much better supporting cast.

Lol. This bolded part is awesome. Hopefully Jenifer and Broome can help each other improve so when they are JRs together without Caupain, we don't see a big dropoff.

L0l....Mick has disappointed me many times, but the outside shooting in two years has some real potential. We should be a threat from three with all five starters....assuming it's Washington, Clark, Evans, Cumberland, and Broome. Hopefully, there's another shooter or two that we don't yet know about and we have good shooters from 1 thru 7 or 8. Jenifer was certainly confident about his shooting. If his results match his confidence some day, he may be one that develops into a pretty good shooter too. I'm still hoping that Mick lands at least one of those lights-out shooters that we seem to see so often on almost all teams not named Cincinnati.
