1) I think GG will overall become a role player/defensive stopper as he matures and plays under control. JDIII might start but will be a caretaker until Caupain or Johnson is ready to assume the PG spot. I love Caupain's rep for an ability to create easy scores by getting in the lane, drawing fouls, and hitting ft's.
2) For the non bigs, Shaq, Caupain, Morman seem to have more of an attack mentality rather than settle for an outside shot that you can get late in the shot clock anyway. Johnson, per espn (recruiting guy, I'll look for his quote) is one of the more versatile guards who can score from all levels. I think he, Johnson, evolves into the floor leader with Jackson providing the emotional lift.
3) Lawrence could become the ultimate matchup nightmare for opposing teams since he can handle well period, not just for a big guy, and will shoot (as he improves) over smaller defenders.
4) Strickland seems like a guy that embraces being in the low post. Not a big guy that hangs out around the 3 point line.
5) Since the conference we're going to be in is not the level of competition we've seen in recent years. I hope Mick uses it as a way to get the young guys extended minuted of the course of the full season so they develop and contribute as the season transitions to conference and NCAA tourney.
Future's bright!!
Completely agree. I wonder what the boards thoughts are as to who will be on the floor at the end of a close game?
