Mick says Caupain is one of the best guards in the country. In 84 career games, he's averaging 8.2 PPG and has scored 20 points ONE time.

Mick is smoking the wacky tobbacky. We've all watched enough college basketball and seen enough very good guards, even in the mid major ranks, not to mention all the power 5 teams, to know that Caupain is nowhere near, not even in the same stratosphere as, the best guards in college basketball. He has basically one good stat, and that is his assist to turnover ratio. Mick's belief in him is giving him free reign to basically do what he wants, play all the time, shoot when he wants, etc. and as Jacob points out, his numbers are very underwhelming.

When Troy was a freshman he looked like a complete steal. He was heady and smart, moved great without the ball and was great at attacking the rim and driving and dishing. As Troy has developed into Mick's system he's become a worse a player, like so many before him, Troy simply isn't good enough to overcome Mick's poor coaching.

True!

Mick talked about how Troy would be more efficient this year because of Justin Jenifer allowing him to rest for stretches.

2014-15 31.3 MIN 9.8 PPG 3.6 REB 44.4 FG% (3.1-7.1) 40.8 3P% (0.9-2.2) 3.6 AST 2.1 TO

2015-16 31.0 MIN 11.0 PPG 2.9 REB 38.8 FG% (3.7-9.6) 29.7 3P% (1.4-4.6) 4.8 AST 1.4 TO

He's some how gotten way less efficient.

Story of Mick's tenure, unfortunately. He's too afraid to play Jenifer bc he hasn't reined him in yet. Once Jenifer shows he can be a slow, boring, safe PG, the minutes will increase. And he'll be a much worse player for it. I still find myself asking on a regular basis...why did we even bother recruiting Jenifer? His style is obviously not something Mick will ever allow.

We've always clamored for a pure three point shooter, we we have one now. Look at Cobb's improvement from last season.

2014-15 24.1 MIN 8.5 PPG 38.2 FG% (2.9-7.6) 33.3 3PT% (1.6-4.7)
2015-16 24.2 MIN 12.7 PPG 44.2 FG% (4.5-10.2) 48.0 3PT% (2.9-6.1)

I think Ellis has had a tough time lately bc of foul trouble. He is averaging 6.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in 20.6 minutes the last 5 games and is averaging 3.4 fouls in that span. On the year he is averaging 22.8 minutes and 2.5 fouls, compared to last year at 2.6 fouls in 28.7 minutes. He and DeBerry need to play smarter. Last 5 games DeBerry has 16 fouls in 59 total minutes. Not gonna work.

Debear fouls just to be fouling. He doesn't even care. NEVER once has he shown emotions on his touch fouls

He committed to us he knew our style, we recruited him for his jr. And sr. Year.......

Mick sold him a false dream. Pump faked the offense system and rotations for first two weeks. First sign of trouble curled back up in shell and doesn't look like he lies to recruits.

I remember when Jenifer signed he said he was sold on getting minutes from day 1.

Here's the quote:
"They say I am coming in and playing as a freshman. That was real big. I was excited when they told me that. They like that I can come in and play and distribute the ball, and I think I can keep helping them win a lot of games from day one." -Justin Jenifer

I'm pretty sure he played every game except last game, no one promised a certain amount of minutes.

UC FT per game out-of-conference: 23.5
UC FT per game AAC: 10.3

UC opponent FT per game OOC: 14

Was guyn defense that good? Going back to last season our rotations and perimeter D from guards has been borderline Horrible.
