could you tell us where you got that from? just trying to make sure it's confirmed since that'll impact my plans that day.

After BearcatROB told me this I went on ESPN and it does show a time of 4 P.M. Was really hoping for a 7 o'clock game, but I guess it beats noon.

You're kidding yourself if you think Ole Miss has a program that's anywhere near comparable to UC. Andy Kennedy has done a fairly decent job at Ole Miss, no one is ever going to win at a school like that.

Mick Cronin took over a much better brand and program than any coach who coached here in the 80's did. Bob Huggins inherited a much worse situation than Mick did and put us in the Final 4 in year 2. Bob is a great coach, Mick is not.

Listen, I understand you're a Huggins loyalist and that's ok. But to say he inherited a "much worse situation" than Cronin is simply not true. UC had one, one D-1 player and had 2 seasons of literally no recruiting when Cronin was hired. Huggins never beat a team in the NCAA with a better seed and although he's doing well this year, he's just 6 games over .500 in B12 games. Yes the B12 is an excellent conference but nothing like the Big East Cronin entered his 1st year with late signed jucos and Cedric McGowan. Having said all that, this year's team has underperformed and that is on Cronin, period.

interesting, thanks. i wonder why uc's site doesn't show anything yet. have to imagine espn knows what time they are showing a game, though.

Moore is so frustrating. I want to root for him. You hear about him wanting to make it work, and that makes me as a fan want to see it happen. But WTF!?!? How can he seriously do the things he did last night? One thing a guy who rides the bench should be good at is understanding situations. So how can he go in there and immediately fire up such a crappy shot? Horrible basketball play. Period. Unbelievable that a 20-21 year old guy, who is about halfway through a high-major basketball career, can do things that are so beyond just calling it a low-IQ play. It's inexcusable. Either he isn't being coached, or he just does whatever the f he wants. Neither is ok. It didn't end up hurting us against UCF...but later in the year he could really make it hard on our good players if he's doing crap like that. If I ever see Moore do that again, I'll no longer support him being on scholarship. Playing hard is one thing. Some of the plays Moore makes are something else. He has shown 0 growth as a player. Might be time to go our separate ways. We usually have 10 guys max available during the season. Not sure we can afford to have Moore as one of them.

Jake no way should a guy who has played the level of competition he has on his way to UC should have to be told that is a bad shot. If Mick has to sit down and explain to every player what is a good shot as opposed to what is a bad shot he would never be able to coach the things he needs to work on. If I played baseball I would not need to have my coach tell me there are two outs run on anything. He may say it but he doesn't or shouldn't have to.

Athletes vs Players

Someone earlier said that UC/Mick recruits athletes not basketball players. I agree. It is very difficult to take a pure athlete who is not a basketball player and turn him into a player. Learning to shoot the basketball is acquired over a long period of time. This is why UC has trouble shooting a high percentage from the line. It is easier to recruit a shooter and teach him defense then vice-versa, From what I have seen, JJ and Quadri are going to struggle at this level. If a new coach arrived at UC, he would show them a school at a level where they can play. Mick should do the same (he won't), and go get some players from overseas that can shoot!

I'm not a Huggins loyalist, it's just impossible to bring up the past without talking about him. I loved him as our coach because of the product he put on the floor, that's it.

I'd be just as happy with Mick if he gave us a similar product, but he hasn't. I'm also not going to pretend like he turned water into wine. He's hasn't done that great of a job, he had some lean years due to lack of talent in the very beginning and everyone gave him a pass for it. It's not like those teams did great, if those teams competed for championships then maybe I'd agree that the guy is a miracle worker. Anyways, that was a long time ago.........

Just because a lot of you want to act like Mick somehow pulled some rabbit out of his hat when he took over this program doesn't make it true. What he inherited was a program with a reputation of being a national powerhouse who just moved into the best basketball conference in the country opening the door to bigger and better recruits.

Players also have to want to come here. Mick recruits his style no doubt. Every coach does. Players have to want to be here.

Before the season started it was all about scoring more points and reducing turnovers. We are up 12 pts/gm and down 1.5 TO's. I think we average roughly 6.5 more possessions per game. So we achieved our goal....but it didn't change the results.

What we need right now is to get the confidence back and the swagger and emotion etc. We had it for a few games during Kmart visit and just after. We were flat in the first half of both of the last two games...hardly any emotion. You can't achieve big things without that passion.

It all hinges on one thing for me...and it seems like it could go either way. We need to get these guys motivated and focused (for 40 minutes) or we are going to go to the NIT.

Fourth best coach in SW Ohio right now. Mack (X) Miller (UD) Matta (OSU) This is unacceptable.
Signed: Long time fan of the program.

Sorry madman haven't been able to log on in awhile, but as earlier mentioned I got it from espn. Was hoping for later but still gonna be really fun. UConn game is always intense

I would say our region would be the TriState. So, Mick would be what...the fourth/ fifth best coach? Mack, Miller, Matta, Crean. Not sure if I would want Crean over Mick.

Who's the coach at NKU?? I'd say Carl Kramer over at Moeller is probably quite a bit better than Mick as well.

The guy at Cov Cath was a Bob Hurley assistant and has a state title. Add him to the list...

Sounds promising, although I don't really take N. Ky high school sports too seriously.

Since you and Mick are pals do me a favor and ask him how it feels to make significantly more money than Mack and Miller while being a far inferior coach. Does it keep him up at night? Does he ever fear it will catch up to him or is he just smiling all the way to the bank?
