Peoples favorite Comp for Scott is always Justin Jackson. This being Tre's red shirt freshman year I really seen a little higher ceiling for him then Jackson. I think Scott's over all game has the potential to be better then JJ. Am I off base?

I completely agree Waite. He seems to be ahead of where Jackson was offensively. Even in Jackson's SR year he was still just a post player, and not a great one. Scott seems much more polished and has a good looking stroke.

I agree that Scott appears to have more potential in regards to offensive versatility, but Jackson was a man down-low in his senior season. He developed a post-move, had a nice FG%, and blocked 3 shots per game. I'm not sure Scott will ever be able to do what Jackson did defensively. And that's not a burn on Scott; that's a praise towards JJ. I'll be curious to see how jacked Scott gets in our program, and how tough he get down-low. He'll certainly hit more jumpers, but will he be an 11 PPG scorer while shooting over 50%? Time will tell.

Hes already more offensively skilled than Jackson

I'm surprised to see that Jackson was over 53% FG his SR year. I thought he was below 50% for sure. Either way, Scott will never be asked to do the things offensively that Jackson was more or less forced to do. So if he averages 11, it will be in a different way.

We only have 10 games to go on but as of now Scott is 56 percent FGs. Per 40 minutes he would be significantly better than JJs first 3 years in rebounds, points, fouls, assists, and turnovers. About the same in blocks and really only behind in steals.

I would take those numbers every day. Again it's early but...

11 ppg in a season when you were the only post option is not all that impressive and 53 percent isn't awesome but it's OK. Jackson is one of my all time faves!

Jackson did play in the big east so I realize right now it's tough to compare. I'll just say I like what I see.

Seth Davis bumped the cats all the way to 18 from 25 on his ballot this week. Might see a little jump it appears.

He's much better than jackso, Jackson had zero offensive ability.

I wish Clark would do like Scott and square up in the lane for the 10 to15 ft shot instead of the backing down shots he takes.

I could see Scott making more jumpers this season than JJ did his whole career.

That said. JJ has the mean face and tre needs to keep working on that

I don't mind subbing to strength. I think we can do that at one position. We need to use that strength more and more in big games.

Is there a difference between backing your defender down and scoring or facing him and scoring. I'm a bit confused by your comment. As long as it goes in who cares.

You have more options when you square up - you see the floor better- Gary does well with his one move but he would be a better player if he would square up first. IMO

getting a guy on your hip in the low post is a skill. The option he is looking for is to bank in a 2 footer or get fouled. He can also kick out to the wing from his post position. Gary and Tre have different games at this point. if your saying you want him to add to his arsenal that is fine. Both players have range up to 10-15 ft but I prefer them playing close to the hoop and using their rebounding skills to get 2nd chance points.

Cumberland reminds me a lot of Darnell Burton who I think was almost always used as the 6th man...but we were clearly subbing to strength with him.

It's good to have a spark off the bench and I think it might even be good to let KJ wear his man down a little before Cumberland comes in (on both ends of the court it might help). I could see an optimal scenario where KJ starts each half and Cumberland finishes them.

Of course I am not discounting Jenifer depending on the situation. He's really starting to enjoy himself out there and looks extremely confident right now. Watching him navigate an open full court is a real treat! I would prefer him eating into KJ minutes a little as well. KJ will get his 20+ but I am hoping for closer to 20 than 30 from him.
