Per www.hoop-math.com 32.7% of our attempts have been in transition.

For perspective, previous years:
20.7%
22.8%
20.1%

Also per kpom we've averaged 14.1 seconds per offensive possession, which is 21st in the country.

For comparison, last year was 18.7 seconds and 303rd in the country.

Also should be noted were 5th in the nation in Offensive Rebounding percentage. This means we're ACTUALLY EVEN FASTER than 14.1 seconds because an offensive rebound does not start a new possession, but merely extends the possession according to their way of tracking data.

I think possession time on offense ramps up to 16 second per possession when we get into tougher games. 16 would still be one of the faster power teams in the country

can you look at stuff like after 4 games say 2 seasons ago. our first 4 games were against dumpster teams like this year and we scored 97, 106, 83, and 99. then game 5 came vs the powerhouse SE Louisiana and we put up 64.

im always going to want to see it before i believe it over the course of a full season.

I don't think you can unfortunately. At least I don't know how to...

Obv those are gonna drop somewhat, even more so because teams aren't going to try and run with us and will probably try to control tempo.

Is there a Team PER stat? I'd like to see our year by year Team PER. Not just averaging everyone on our team, but weighting it by % of minutes played.

2014-15 Team PER: 16.6

2015-16 Team PER: 18.4

2016-17 Team PER: 18.4

2017-18 Team PER: 18.3

I think the starters this year will start to take a higher % of the minutes, so the number will reflect that more and more as the year goes on. Our bench is playing over 40% of the minutes this year. Last year the bench played about 27% of the minutes.

I think we shot ourselves in the foot big time with that Florida game. There were a lot of losses in front of us that week. This week not a lot of losses in front of us. We could have climbed 5 spots if we beat FLA when we were 17 but now we are 25 and aren't going to climb that much in the polls. Probably close to a 10 spot difference in rankings if we beat FLA.

Oh well...I think we found a nice groove in the past couple of games between great D and decent O.

the Florida loss was very disappointing loss. 21 TO's did us in and we still had a shot to win

the Reddit Poll has us at #19 which i think is fair.

I voted us at #17 just because we had a week that included 2 double digit Wins against top 100 opponents and not many other teams had wins like that this week.

Rest of my poll: (admittedly spent less time this week on it and submitted 5 min before deadline)

  1. Villanova
  2. Mich state
  3. Arizona State
  4. Duke
  5. Kentucky
  6. UNC
  7. Miami
  8. West Virginia
  9. TCU
  10. Xavier
  11. Texas A&M
  12. Purdue
  13. Arizona
  14. Gonzaga
  15. Oklahoma
  16. Virginia
  17. Cincinnati
  18. wichita State
  19. Kansas

Funny to see Arizona State #3 and KU #19. Wonder what that'll be in a couple months.

Not sure where you had WSU before this game but they were beat by a team you have as #15 now and they were #3 in the AP poll before this. That's a big drop for a #15 loss no?

You get beat at home like that (it was never a game) and I'm losing faith in you really quick.

Real Top 10 teams defend home court.

They have been given this benefit of the doubt that UC hasn't gotten all year and In my poll Im no longer doing that with them. They've looked like shit in multiple games and allowed 90+ on their home floor. thats not elite.

I think they can get much much better when Mcduffie is back, but they have 2 losses now, 1 to a now unranked ND team and 1 at home.

I have little Faith their top 5 ranking holds but you can't deny them at this point. They have possibly the best resume in basketball and can just flat out score.
4 top 50 wins and 6 top 75 wins.

Against Vandy they took exactly ZERO mid range shots. It was either in the paint or from 3. Thats really smart basketball.

Kenpom metrics has them at 31. But what I like about them is that they aren't a one trick pony. If you stop they 3, they will take you off the dribble and either score at the rim or get fouled. They have a really balanced attacked and 24% of their scoring comes from the Free throw line (15th in the country in that category)

Meanwhile, Kansas is a one trick pony. They lack any meaningful depth and if the 3 point shot isn't falling, they will lose every time. They get fouled ALMOST NEVER and have a free throw rate of #350!!!!!.

We'll see if Sam Cunliffe helps KU's depth at all. I know their fans aren't happy with Svi (they never are) and Malik Newman.

Broome and Clark are already in the 1,000 point club. Washington is at 987 and Evans is at 923. Pretty cool.

not sure where to put this
