I feel like everyone is trying to hit a solo homerun when we are down by 10. We need a lot of players. I get we want all studs but that’s not going to happen. Spell looks like a good piece to me. We just had the same arguments about mason and Saunders. Is the guy a savior? Prob not but looks like he can play a little bit. Don’t understand the hate for spell

It’s the hate for Brannen translating to spell. If you look at our recruiting over the last 15 years we pry haven’t been beating out major schools for most of our recruits. Some of the top guess yes, but overall probably not.

I don't understand lowering the expectations for Brannen and our program due to 1 year and whatever happened.. this guy replaced Cronin and 13 straight years of the tournament. I don't want to be Temple in BBall. Yes he needs players to field a team next year and try to go .500 or something, but frankly that isn't good enough. He doesn't get a pass due to his own failures this year.

I disagree. We don't beat out the top 15 blue bloods. But we beat out multiple legit schools for nearly all recruits last 10 years.

Very unlikely to happen and I haven't seen anyone who knows anything supporting it. Seems like just a Louisville radio host stirring the pot. Louisville just fired two assistant coaches, so there is room. It would also give Brannen a convenient excuse for leaving.

The comments are gold, bunch of Louisville fans saying they don't want Brannen as an assistant coach.

We literally just had these arguments with Saunders and mason and now we wish we had them back because it turns out maybe they could play. I get people aren’t happy with brannen, like I said, I’d fire the guy, but 2-3 weeks ago when I brought up spell, people seemed to want him. He looks like a good player. I’m not lowering my expectations. Also brannen hasn’t brought in one highschooler yet that looked completely overmatched

Why would he leave a head coaching job to be an assistant coach?

If was was going to, it would be because UC and him negotiated a deal to get rid of him and he uses going to Louisville as an assistant to save face.

So you're saying leaving a HC job to become an assistant is a face saving move?

Talk about making uc look like garbage. That an assistant position at Louisville would be a better move.

I understand the total situation but the optics would be terrible. Almost worse than they are now. Lol

yes, i was pointing out the ridiculousness of it

Right, he moves well for a big man, he will probably grow another inch or so. I’d take a six ten guy with decent quickness at this point.

It's better than being fired. He could put out a statement about how the pressures of coaching at an elite university during Covid got to him and he needs to take a break. UC and him would negotiate a settlement (with numbers that never become public) with UC paying him money, but less than 4.5 million.

No one would really believe it, but it would be enough for him to go be an assistant coach for a couple years and then restart his HC career. Say he has learned from his mistakes and changed and all that.

If we were to fire him right now, no other school (even a low-major) is going to hire him as a head coach.

I don't think it's going to happen. But I can dream.

Where is the VT disappointment if we get Spell? ASU seems like they at least will be wanting him.

VT isn't even recruiting him anymore, they won't care. ASU hasn't offered him, they won't care. Elon and George Washington might be disappointed though.

Not happening. Move along.

Exactly my point. Look I know its one HS kid, and I hope he succeeds wherever he goes. But when we're only upsetting Elon that we got our recruit, the day's no brighter than yesterday.

You know none of this as fact... same ole skyblade

I've already given the facts in this thread. Asked less then a month ago about teams involved with him, Bryson did not mention VT.

I've shown you how I get my facts. How about you show me something that shows VT is still involved or ASU has offered him. I haven't see one.
