AAC Conference Tournament Thread

NTS, do they only have odds for the conferences that don't have byes or something? I have seen literally every conference except the American.

Maybe they come out tomorrow? The Sun Belt, Big West and American are the only tournaments that start on March 12th, the rest all start earlier.

On the ESPN College Basketball podcast today, they broke down the conference tournaments. Seth Greenberg just kept talking about how tough we are and he immediately dismissed the thought of us losing to UConn. He has us losing in the finals to SMU. He and Andy Katz were saying how good looking of a freshman Clark is, and how well Ellis is playing right now. They also mentioned Caupain being a good leader at the point.

Stealing from a UCONN board but they have the odds as:

SMU +150
Uconn +250
Cincy +450
Tulsa +625
Temple +750

Also fun to note, UCONN fans are all celebrating that they get us instead of SMU/Temple. I really dont think they have been watching us play lately :p

Looking forward to getting some revenge in Hartford. A big key is stopping Hamilton, he has been a beast for them lately and you know, of course, not let Boatright do his typical score 30+ against us.

I think its weird that the AAC championship game is played so late. Won't the committee basically have the bracket complete before the champion is crowned? I just don't see the conference tourney making a huge impact on the final outcome. Say UConn wins it, that could very well just eliminate Tulsa or Temple.

What time is the championship on Sunday? I believe Temple will be a lock with a win over Memphis. Not sure about Tulsa though.

They always have contingency brackets for Sunday. Basically, they are done before Sunday games but have a bracket should this team win or that team wins, etc.

Correct. The committee will meet on Thursday and basically put in all the at large teams (even if they may win a conference tournament), and then have an under consideration board. That usually takes up all Thursday. They already start seeding by Friday...once teams from the at-large pool start winning conference tournaments, spots open up for the teams from the under consideration board. The seeding process is set up by a computer program where they put in all the rules so it is really easy to create contingency brackets.

Really hoped to avoid UCONN. Playing at home and needing to win AAC tourney to get in Dance makes them dangerous. They also have some players. Do like the way we have responded to the pressure of needing to win out to secure a bid but I want to win the tourney as well.

Get over it people. We might be playing UConn...bc they aren't very good this year. They just shot 29% at home last week. We're acting like they win the whole thing every year. Purvis, Facey, Calhoun, Samuel, Nolan? Meh. Even Brimah and Hamilton have had their struggles from the floor. I'll take our roster over theirs this year every day of the week.

Ahh. I didn't realize how easy the contingency brackets were to put together. I was gonna say, otherwise the Sunday afternoon American final would be more trouble than it's worth.

I didn't want to play UConn but there is not much choice now. What would be even sweeter would be to end their season on their court with their coach with that look on his face like his dog got run over.

I want the headband TC to break out during this game, take it personally, play with extreme fire and confidence. Then to keep it up not only for the American but for the NCAA tourney.

Who knows we were supposed to play Memphis last year on their home court and they lost.
