especially with our ability to shut down a team's star

Is this serious or sarcastic? It doesn't seem like UC has had an ability to shut down the other teams best player for a number of years. Especially now with their zone that doesn't focus on one player.

Are you serious? Trevon bluiett has 5 combined points against us in 2 games, Melvin johnson for VCU went 0-11 vs us and had just 2 points, andrew white from nebraska had just 8 points and 2-11, Rob Gray (top 3 scorer in american) had just 6 points against us.

Sure, we couldn't shutdown georges niang but who can. The funny thing is, its never the star who beats UC, its one guy who never scores who beats us. We've had a lot of guys have there career high against us this year but its never the star.

Maybe that's what I'm thinking of then. Seems like someone always goes off against us and UC struggles to keep them in check.

Kellen Dunham killed us and now that loss is getting worse by the day.

Yea he and Niang were the exception.. Though Rose Jones really killed us in that game that still haunts me.

Against Tulsa, were gonna need to really shutdown woodard and harrison. or at least one. They just lost to Uconn but fought back and had it down to 3 after being down 14 or so..

Uconn maybe worse than anyone I've seen at getting huge leads and then blowing them or almost blowing them

Tulsa is scary because Harrison draws so many fouls. Remember how bad our foul trouble was in the first half last time we played them? They made like 3 FG's in the first half and the rest were all FT's.

Yep. we had 24 fouls that game too.

I do think we are guarding much better than we were at that point in the season. We need to take care of the ball and limit there offensive rebounds. Kenpom has them as one of the least offensive rebounding teams in the country and yet they had 14 in the first game.

They will be hungry for a win just like us and have revenge on there mind from us beating them last year on there floor

Games to keep an eye on today:
Syracuse vs. Boston College- Cuse is safe, losing this game would have hurt so they remain in good shape.

Pittsburgh vs UNC- Pitt is also safe even with a loss but a win would have helped. They are getting blown out.

UNH vs Stony Brook - Stony has a very slim chance at an at-large bid if they don't win the conference tournament, they are 21-4 and 12-0 in conference

USF vs Temple- Owls cannot lose this game to keep their at large hopes alive.

Miami vs FSU- Noles are on the bubble, winning this game against #12 the U would help their cause.

UCLA vs Arizona State- neither team is very close to the bubble, but if UCLA wins they keep hope alive. Bruins have 3 good wins (Kentucky, @Zaga, Zona).

Temple kind of lucked out as they only had to play SMU once.

We really need to them to lose to Houston and Tulsa and would love to See Memphis put the nail in temple's coffin for us.. UC nor Uconn or SMU can win the AAC if we tie with Temple. Need them to lose at least twice but would love 3 times to kick them out of the tournament and out of that top spot

Did anybody hear Roy Williams' halftime comments when asked about giving up 42 points? He said he doesn't care how many points they give up, as long as they hold their opponent to a low percentage. They're an up tempo team. Giving up 42 points happens. I wish Mick saw it this way.

What a crazy win for Duke. UNC always seems to lose to them in crazy close games. Reminds me of the way we always find a way to lose to Xavier in crazy ways.

And UNC lost on there home floor... also we lost on our home floor not playing defense (iowa st, butler and Temple).

Our identity is defense and rebounding. If we can shut teams down and play with a really fast pace then Im all for it. But I dont ever want to be a team who just plays fast paced offense and very little defense

It's about defensive efficiency, not total points scored. That's my point.
