Two teams that accomplish the same thing in very different ways. VCU was 25th in tempo last year while Cincinnati was 317th.

Yeah - Toledo is doing well against them right now because they are attacking the press up rather than pulling the ball out to run their offense. VCU traps everywhere so that's what you have to do to beat them.

I think their style will benefit UC. We need to speed up the tempo in some way and the other team playing fast will help. The question will be if our guards can handle the ball. Thankfully this one is at home.

A little ot but I am watching the Duke game and I am enjoying watching that Okafor guy. He looks like a grown man who should be playing in the League.

Duke looks very good. Kentucky looks great. They're huge.

Watching Kentucky really just pisses me off. They are exactly what is wrong with college basketball. I wish the NBA would let high schoolers in the draft. What is the point of have 3-4 college teams having the cream of the crop while every other program works hard to build a good team. Schools like UK completely ruin what college basketball should be about. I know the NCAA fat rats pockets are loving that.

Thought the same thing last night. Kentucky looked like a video game team. Where you make all the players really tall and put all their attributes to 99. It's not even fun to root for a team like that. If they dont win the national championship it is an abject failure, not just a disappointment. Im also sick of hearing what a "tough" coaching challenge Calipari has this year. He has a roster that could be split in half and both halves could be ranked in the top 25. Poor baby. That roster without playing together very long dismantled the 5th ranked team in the country by 30 points. I agree with what Vitale said last night which was you should be able to go to the NBA right out of high school but if you dont you have to stay in college for 3 years. If Cal goes undefeated or just wins another national title I think he bolts for the NBA. Nothing left to accomplish at Kentucky and maybe some equilibrium is restored. I doubt it though. I just hate the landscape of college basketball right now.

I heard last night UK is the tallest team in college basketball and actually would be the tallest team in the NBA as well. They are stacked. It makes me sick.

What I can't figure out is why the 11th and 12th guys on the bench even went to UK. They'd probably start on most teams or at minimum get significant playing time. That reminds me of last year when Cauley-Stein was hurt and no one had seen Lee play...the kid comes in and immediately makes plays. Why Lee would want to ride the bench all year is beyond me, but I guess he did get a Final Four out of it.

The only way Kentucky loses this year is if a team like Duke or Arizona is as good as predicted (I haven't watched AZ yet - Duke looks very good) and Kentucky has chemistry issues. The SEC is mostly terrible, but UK does have a tough schedule early. If UK buys in to what Cal wants, I'm not sure many teams will be able to touch them, but I thought that about Kentucky in 2010 and Huggy Bear beat them (loved every second of that one).

More than anything, Kentucky's defense made them hard to beat. They altered about 50% (maybe more) of Kansas shots. They only outrebounded Kansas by 5, but they held them to 20% shooting.

Kentucky didn't shoot lights out, either - 43% for the game, 62% from the line, and 33% from the 3. They did have 11 blocks, and Kansas missed inside all night because of it.

I think fair rules would be:

You may enter the NBA Draft straight out of High School, but you MUST be drafted in the 1st round. No 2nd round picks straight out of High School. If you aren't, you have to have a college back-up plan. Must play there for at minimum 2 years. This wipes out one-and-dones. If your grades are terrible, you can play overseas for 2 years.

This seems intense and a bit of a hassle, but I think this would solve a lot of issues. Some frankly do not need college. But to those that do, you need to be there for 2 years.

Couldn't agree more Jack. I have absolutely no desire for Mick to turn the Cats into a residence for 1 and doners. It is why I get so frustrated with people who can't understand how good we have it as fans. Certainly I want the best program possible but I don't want a product that doesn't embrace the concept of student atheletes. If your not interested in the education side of it go watch professionals. If your a High School kid who has the ability to play professionally enter the draft. Why risk injury. You can always go to the D league. Let the professionals pay you.

I have long said that you should be able to enter the draft immediately out of HS but if you go undrafted, there is an option to go to college. If you go to college you must stay 3 years, but if you elect to play overseas there is no restriction on how long you have to play.

I love the NBA, and I would hate for it to get ruined again by high school kids flooding the league. We'd have a bunch of teams like the 76ers. Sure it would help college, but the NBA isn't going to kill itself just so Kentucky can't build a power team (2 power teams in this year's case).

I'm all for kids having to stay 2 or 3 years in college or go play overseas...or even the d-league. But the NBA can't be an option.

They could go to the D league. If the NBA is worried that they aren't mature enough to handle the lifestyle let them teach them on their dime. They should pay the kids a salary. It is called on the job training.

Jacob the NCAA is getting stinking rich off these kids. Anybody who is a projected first round pick from Kentucky or any school for that matter will not be going to class after basketball season is over. If you think they are doing anything more then sleeping in the classes they are attending your not well informed.

Waite, I hear you. I'm just commenting from the NBA perspective. Kids straight out of HS took the NBA quality down for a years and I would hate to see that happen again.
