Bearcat vs Houston

better the bowl the more money for the school. Also you never give up a opportunity to play against a quality team because you may get blown out. Any time you get a chance to play in a big game against big time programs you jump t it. The good far outweighs the negative. If you lose it's what is expected if you win or play well it can only enhance the status and exposure of your program.

Exactly; same concept as losing first round in the NCAA's or going deep in the NIT. The Russell Athletic Bowl payout is $2.3 million this year. The Sugar Bowl payout is $17 million this year. No, UC wouldn't get all that money, but you see my point. Ignoring exposure and such, those numbers alone are enough to welcome a possible loss against a top SEC team rather than beating an average one.

Believe it was more of "we need you for the Louisville game." And it will be sold out; only a few hundred seats remain.

Not so much. Yes he said go get tickets if they are still available. But he also said if you can't get one because they aren't available then its your fault for waiting this long. Lol He also made a statement saying we need more season ticket holders and more support. He said we have a solid core but a lot of people still on the fence that need to come off the fence and become season ticket holders.I thought it was awesome what he said. He wasn't doing it in a negative manner but he was direct and on point with a large part of this "fan base". It was nice to hear some fire under TT's voice.

It looks unlikely that UC will get the BCS bid. You'd think, even with a loss to UC, the Russell will choose Louisville. Then you've got the Belk that probably will not want UC again. Best case scenario is vs Notre Dame in the Pinstripe Bowl. However, if Rutgers get bowl eligible, we could be looking at the BBVA Compass Bowl vs a lower SEC team. That would suck as it is the same day as the basketball game @ Memphis and is in Birmingham. Bowls don't looks so promising, and the tie-in's get worse after this year....

Wow, pretty depressing when you lay it out like that. I would like to think Pinstripe would rather have us than a dreadful Rutgers team, and I would like to think Belk would rather repeat with us than have 1,000 Houston fans at the game; then again, those are hopes, not facts.

Right now the projections on ESPN have us in Pinstripe or Belk. Hopefully we take care of Louisville and become impossible to ignore.

I would love the Pinstripe and the chance of playing ND. That would be fun for a couple obvious reasons.

Nothing like a shot at beating up on the Pillsbury Doughboy himself, that would be almost as cool as playing in a BCS Bowl. We would have a good shot at winning that game, IMO.

Hahaha I completely agree with everything you say. Especially that final statement.

This doesn't have anything to do with this thread but I didn't want to start a new one. This is the half time interview from Michigan State's game. Just made me laugh, gotta love Mark Dantonio!!

I was happy to see some fire in him as well. And I agree, I think he was mad because the defense wasn't ready and had to call a timeout. You're in a prevent defense. You know you're assignment, it doesn't really change. You get back to the line and get in formation. It was a quick 3rd down play, but still no need to have to give them a free TO to get to call a play. What I was most happy about was that the guy didn't argue back. He just listened and took it. I'm sure they'll smooth things out behind close doors and I doubt Tuberville is really even mad at him, just airing out frustrations, but the last thing you need is a sideline incident in front or the cameras and the players.

Agree with almost all of that but TT was definitlely pissed off and I think the other guy knew he f'd up. But I like this because some of our fans think TT, with his laid back persona, for some reason doesn't care enough or can't get emotional. BS.

Andrew Gantz from Moeller. He lost to Miliano in the pre-season, so I wouldn't hold my breath.

If you can't beat out Miliano at this point...I would say you probably shouldn't have been kicking in HS. Maybe playing the tuba for the band would have been a better option.

And it was absolutely the right call to kick in that situation. The field was bad and the kicker has more than struggled, but that is a chip shot to seal the game. A missed FG was no different than going for it and not picking up the first down. There would be absolutely no way you put the ball in the air in that situation. They needed a good three yards to pick up the first and vs. a D stacking the run that is a tough get. Kicking it was the best option. Bottom line is you have to still play the game the right way and expect your players to execute. Miliano didn't, but it was the right call.

No doubt it was the right call....or was it? I kid because we missed it but I am starting to think we should never kick a FG when on the hash or outside the 20 yard line.

By the way...big game for UC...and we won it.

We dominated this game today. The score doesn't tell the story. I would not have guessed we would have dominated this well against a good opponent like Houtson.

Great job Bearcats! This includes players and coaches (not named Miliano). Soory I don't mean to beat up on the guy...I am sure he is a good kid.

Cincinnati up to #27 in the AP Poll. The important one, the Coaches Poll, will come out soon. I predict UC will be #25 in that poll.

They planned on redshirting him because Miliano was supposed to be better. They aren't going to burn his redshirt for 1 regular season game...

I am correct. Cincinnati is #25 in the Coaches Poll.

For comparison, UCF is #19. If they lose one game, and we beat Louisville. Cincinnati will most likely jump them in at least 1 of the 3 BCS components!

I'm trying to make that game in Memphis and both those games start at noon, so no way to double dip (Birmingham and Memphis are about 180 miles away or so). I also will try to make whatever Bowl game we make. Fortunately, at this point I don't think the Birmingham Bowl is likely.

Obviously I'm hoping for the BCS bid, but my second choice would be the Belk Bowl again just because of location. We are guaranteed a top three finish at this point, although SMU could tie us record-wise at 6-2. We would still have the head-to-head over them. I don't want the Pinstripe Bowl. Honestly don't know if I would go to that one if they go. Can't imagine it would be fun to sit out in freezing temperatures. Logic would dictate we get either the Orlando Bowl or the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. I heard some other people say we wouldn't get the invite because we went last year, but I don't understand that logic. Cinicnnati fans have shown to travel well and we are closer than SMU or Houston and who knows how well their fans would want to go to Charlotte. Bowls choose participants based on their finish in the conference standings and if they can sell tickets to the game to those fans. Any area fans will be rooting for the ACC team so no team in our league would be a draw for local ticket sales. If we beat Louisville we should get the Orlando Bowl, unless of course we get the BCS bid with a UCF loss. I know technically they can choose who they want, but we would be a clear-cut second place finish and again we travel well. Typically a bowl wouldn't want to ruffle the feathers of a league by choosing a lesser placed team for a bowl, but with the AAC not having any future ties to these bowls I don't know that that will matter as much. Regardless of what bowl we go to our payout won't differ. From how I understand it the league collects all money and then divides it out based on your finish in the conference. So if we finish second or third we would be paid the same regardless of what bowl selects us. Don't quote me on that, but that is my understanding.

Thanks for the info. I can understand not burning a redhirt for one game. However, We have been horrible on FG's for most, if not all, of the season.

Yeah I think we would move ahead of them; we would beat a top 25 team and they would lose to an under .500 team. What if UCF somehow lost this weekend? That would be a jacked up Bearcats team on the 5th.

Good call. 25 Coaches. 27 AP. 29 BCS. UCF 18 in BCS. Even with a UCF loss and a UC win it's probably going to be close. Can we get a 6 point swing from both ends? I could see that happening since we play a top 25 opponent and SMU is 89. UCF plays away and we play at home. We will play 2 days before UCF so even if we can squeak out a win we will be biting nails on Saturday Dec 7th.

I forgot they play USF at home first my bad. So we have a rivalry type game at home and an away game to find a chink in the armor. I live in Orlando. I may just have to get down there and root on the Bulls:) USF is BCS 102. A loss by UCF against either one would hurt.
