When you're out there saying we're not elite because we don't have Jordan brand

Never said that, and your reading comprehension sucks.

making claims saying Gonzaga gets no coverage when half their games were broadcast nationally on ESPN you're just spreading misinformation and stating it as fact.

Again that reading comprehension is getting you. I specifically referred to talk show and promotional coverage. UC got considerable time on national tv this year, but ESPN spent the commercial breaks plugging the Kansas vs UK game/another sporting event. My point was that UC is not going to become the school they are promoting. Part of that is fan base size, and probably more to do ESPN not promoting college basketball in general.

Also don't make the mistake of thinking a Thursday game on ESPN 2 creates a national talking point. Conversation and promotion on Mike & Mike / Sportscenter / Other general audience programs are where that is created.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion of what defines "Elite". I'm going to say that being a historical top 25 program out of over 300 programs qualifies as "Elite" in my mind.

So Mick has the program at this standard. Are you going to stop the Huggins fanboy unconditional hate for Mick?

By the way, I still think your obsession is weird.

Keep doing you though and I'll keep correcting you when you slip up.

Your attempt at intelligence is cute.

The irony here is astounding. So, he's the one saying we're not a highly successful program, yet your signature is literally railing the coach that has been at the helm for 11 years now, and anyone that supports him? Incredible.

Because I believe the program is elite and the coach isn't. It's not really that ironic.

The program and the coach are two different things. Many of you want to make all the excuses in the world for why our coach can't be successful at UC and I have the opposite view. I believe the program has proven itself as an elite program throughout the years, I'm still waiting for the coach to prove himself worthy.

Seems like a simple concept to me but very hard for some of you to grasp.

We've made 20 Tournaments since 25 years ago. 4 Sweet 16s, 2 Elite 8s, won 7 Conference Tournaments, 10 Regular Season Conference Titles, and had 4 1st team All-Americans....................................................................................................

I said I believe our program is Elite in the first post.

I don't want to shit on our current program by tearing the post apart, but you know that those stats are front loaded.

Yea the coach who resurrected the program from the trash pile it was following the botched Huggins departure has nothing to do with the current success.

Then make a better cutoff than 25 years ago. I'm basing those stats on exactly what YOU said.

We are not elite. I hate to say it. To us we are elite but to no one else we would be considered elite. We are very good and I would say next tier down from elite, and trust me that takes a lot for me to say. Elite is Tom Brady, Elite is Derek Jeter, Elite is UK UCLA UNC and Duke. There still over 300 other colleges and to be in the next tier is great. It hurts that we aren't in a P5 which makes it seem like we are lower than the tier we are in but we are a great program and should be happy to be where we are at. Just want to see a little tourney run next year. Really need that to happen.

If you're talking just today, then no we aren't elite. But that list would change every year if the definition is recency.

That's not what I said. You love to take misinformation and state it as fact which makes having a reasonable back and forth with you very difficult.

You do realize it's possible to be somewhere in the middle, right? Extremism seems ever so popular these days. You can want more out of a coach and team, but also understand why it has been difficult to reach certain goals. You call UC bouncing from conference to conference an excuse; I consider it having a grasp on the big picture and how that has been a huge limitation for the program since 2012, which coincidentally was when we were hitting our stride.

I like Mick and do not at all want him fired right now. Am I satisfied with one conference title and one sweet sixteen in his 11 years here? No. I want to win this league once every 3 years (minimum) and reach the sweet sixteen every 4 years (minimum). I think those can be reached when you consider the momentum we currently have. Starting over and bringing in a whole new staff right now, like some have suggested, seems absolutely asinine.

Sit here and blame Mick for everything all you want. But it's lazy. There are far too many factors to simply target one guy.

Your reaction to my comments seems extreme and lazy. I didn't say anything about firing Mick. I do not believe that he deserves to be fired, I also do not believe he is elite.

If you'd like to debate my stance based on facts and the actual words I've posted then I'm all for it.

Elite is best of the best. National Championships. Always in the running for a national championship. Can people honestly say that's us consistently year after year. I'm talking before Cronin?

Then you're wrong! Lol.

I hope I'm wrong. Do you really consider our history the Tom Brady of college basketball? You know my posts and how biased I am as a UC fan, but really are we the best. Elite is in a class of it's own. To be considered elite is on a whole other level.

Your requirements for elite over the history of the sport seem very strict.

Kansas has 2 titles since 1952.

This formatting isn't great, but these are all the schools that have won at least 2 National Titles in CBB in HISTORY. I would say Cincinnati is an elite program.

Teams that have won the championship more than once
Team Wins Years won
UCLA 11 1964, 1965, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1975, 1995
Kentucky 8 1948, 1949, 1951, 1958, 1978, 1996, 1998, 2012
Duke 5 1991, 1992, 2001, 2010, 2015
Indiana 5 1940, 1953, 1976, 1981, 1987
North Carolina 5 1957, 1982, 1993, 2005, 2009
Connecticut 4 1999, 2004, 2011, 2014
Louisville 3 1980, 1986, 2013
Kansas 3 1952, 1988, 2008
Cincinnati 2 1961, 1962

Michigan State 2 1979, 2000
North Carolina State 2 1974, 1983

And even the schools with the most have gone through very, very long stretches with no titles. A lot of people put UCLA #1 and they have 1 NC since 1975.
