Bellarmine

I like what Cobb brings. I think he'll play more than I originally thought. I was hoping for a little more out of Sanders. I know it is exhibition and we have a bunch of new guys, but I was hoping he'd stand out.

I'm liking my end of our bet Cobb is looking good and KJ is looking really bad.

Impressed by Ellis, Morman, Cobb, and Sanders hit a few in the 2nd half

Shaq, Guyn, KJ and Caupain werent great.

Clark and Moore need to slow down a little.

DeBerry and Strickland were about what I expected.

I bet Mick is glad they came back on us a little. Great team to play in exhibition. Lots of room for our young Cats to grow.

Like Chuck and Dan said during the broadcast, there are many teachable moments from this game. Bellarmine is a really good team who passes exceptionally well. Go back tomorrow and look at film to correct. While the comeback was tough to watch, this team has the look of a very fun team to watch this season. Can't put too much stock in the performances of Caupain and KJ. They proved they can play with the big boys last season. Ellis is going to be a handful for opposing teams. I'm stoked!:D

This is what exhibition games are for my friends. Just another building block. This team will be fun but it won't surprise me if they play some match up zone this season.

Mick said several times in his post game presser that he didn't make any strategic changes because he wanted to see how specific guys reacted. Also said he wanted to play man all game because he knew they'd get exposed.

I was there and ellis is very impressive. Future 1st team all league easily. Mick already has them clicking on all cylinders. They will only get better

So I would assume we can say that Strickland will be last of the scholarship players off the bench. I don't know of any injury and he got minimal minutes last night. Don't want to read too much into an exhibition but that was fairly obvious.

Quadri looked more ready that I thought he would at this point, obviously still lots to work on, but I thought he'd be right there with Strickland.

Overall, a good building block, going to be fun to watch this team this year.

My thoughts:
- As everyone has stated, Ellis looked great. Looks like a completely brand new person from 2 years ago.
- I'm still so skeptical of Shaq. He's so clumsy. Also, Cronin needs to nip this "Shaq shooting long jumpers" in the butt right now.
- I barely remember Gary even having the ball on offense. His D looked bad, but he needs more touches on offense and to be more assertive.
- Quadri reminded me of Yancy a bit. Maybe not as big or quick, but his game is very similar. I think we'll like him a lot.
- Deshaun could be our next Dion Dixon. So quick on defense, decent shot, and can jump out of the gym. Lot to like from him.
- DeBerry's minutes may be limited to fatigue, but he looked like Shaquille O'Neal out there body-wise. Get him the ball within 5 feel of the hoop and the defense is done.
- KJ and Caupain seemed lost, but I don't expect that to keep up.
- Sanders could have a huge year from 3-point land if we run plans to get him open. I don't he has too much else to offer, honestly, but he can shoot 40% from out there if open.

The defense will tighten. They got beat a lot, but with 7 new guys, there's so much communication to work on. I thought on offense there was too much passing the ball around the perimeter, until later in the game. Quadri/Ellis both need touches every possession.

Attendance was 4,234...last year it was 5,578 but the game was on a Saturday.

I think this game was an "open-house" for people that had previously bought tickets and were considering season tickets/mini-plans, so they got in for free. Can't imagine that counted in the 4,234; I heard from people there it looked a lot more full than that. Closer to 6000-6500

I think that is a great comparison between Mormon and Dixon.

Meh, not me. I remember Dixon being a liability on defense and was not nearly as confident and strong slashing to the rim. Mormon will have a much better career than Dixon did. IMO.
