- I'm still so skeptical of Shaq. He's so clumsy. Also, Cronin needs to nip this "Shaq shooting long jumpers" in the butt right now.

Couldnt agree more. He shot 3 3's. I dont want that to ever happen again. He was 4-6 from 2 though...if he can get up 8-10 shots from 17' in, he could have a pretty good year.

The thing is. with shaq playing the 3. He needs to be able to hit a 3 or long twos. If he doesnt, his slashing or attacking the rim is never going to be a factor. They will give him the rubles treatment and guard him at around the foul line. You cant get any penetration if noone is guarding you around the arc.

Sometimes last year we would struggle to even get shots up. But even with the 30 sec shot clock last night, we only had a couple bad shots at the end of the clock. That is so encouraging. This team just has a different feel offensively. When guys like Cobb and Moore are in, they have no hesitation. Lots of options for us and lots of minutes up for grabs. I like seeing these new guys play with confidence and show they belong on the floor.

I'd rather have Shaq not be able to penetrate than shoot 20% from 3. I dont mind when he shoots from 17 or maybe a wide open 3 once per game...but does anyone really want Shaq shooting 100 3's this year? That cant be good.

Moore did look good last night. But i would really like for him to not shoot as much as he did. Well let me rephrase that. I would really like for him to not shoot everytime he touches the ball. He looked impressive, but at the same time he through up shots that he had no business throwing up. He received the ball, backed down his defender and just lobbed it at the rim, when he had a man open to dish to and re position himself. Our bigs have to do a better job of dishing out and repositioning instead of throwing up contested shots. With that said, our guards have to do better with the entry pass

I think we will really like the mix of Ellis and Moore. Not sure how "Da Bear's" passing is, but I think with Ellis and Moore in the game we can stretch defenses out. Moore has range and can pass the ball and Ellis is quicker and better with the ball than any big man we've had with Mick. I believe at one point last night he dribbled the ball all the way down court and scored.

As far as Clark goes, give him time and I bet we will all be impressed by the end of the year. He is young and was thrown in the mix versus a very talented and large Bellarmine squad. Deonta Vaughn took a couple games before he came into his own, then there was no looking back after his breakout game. If Mick is high enough on him to put him in the lineup, then I am very excited to see him rebounding, blocking shots and scoring later on this year

Meh, not me. I remember Dixon being a liability on defense and was not nearly as confident and strong slashing to the rim. Mormon will have a much better career than Dixon did. IMO.

Liability may be too strong of a word, but I always thought people severely overrated Dixon's defensive abilities, as I think people do now with Guyn.

Moore will learn these things as the game slows down for him. I'd rather have a freshman that may shoot too much, than one that is too afraid to shoot at all.

Yeah you gotta love him and Dan calling games though. It might come with being a Bengals and Bearcat fan, but I associate hearing Dan Hoard's voice with all my favorite teams

Dan wasnt calling the game last night. He was sitting right behind me. But I agree, I love Dan. The bengals.....not so much

My thoughts:
- As everyone has stated, Ellis looked great. Looks like a completely brand new person from 2 years ago.
- I'm still so skeptical of Shaq. He's so clumsy. Also, Cronin needs to nip this "Shaq shooting long jumpers" in the butt right now.
- I barely remember Gary even having the ball on offense. His D looked bad, but he needs more touches on offense and to be more assertive.
- Quadri reminded me of Yancy a bit. Maybe not as big or quick, but his game is very similar. I think we'll like him a lot.
- Deshaun could be our next Dion Dixon. So quick on defense, decent shot, and can jump out of the gym. Lot to like from him.
- DeBerry's minutes may be limited to fatigue, but he looked like Shaquille O'Neal out there body-wise. Get him the ball within 5 feel of the hoop and the defense is done.
- KJ and Caupain seemed lost, but I don't expect that to keep up.
- Sanders could have a huge year from 3-point land if we run plans to get him open. I don't he has too much else to offer, honestly, but he can shoot 40% from out there if open.

The defense will tighten. They got beat a lot, but with 7 new guys, there's so much communication to work on. I thought on offense there was too much passing the ball around the perimeter, until later in the game. Quadri/Ellis both need touches every possession.

It's an exhibition game, my GOD, TRUST ME THINGS WILL CHANGE!!!! KJ AND CAUPAIN DID NOT LOOK LOST! iT'S FUNNY HOW ONE GAME THAT'S NOT EVEN A REAL GAME, ON HOW PEOPLE CHANGE! THEM TWO WILL BE A OKAY YOU TRUST ME!

I was thinking last night, why would Cronin not let Jermaine Lawrence play the 3 last year? He can dribble and shoot and drive. He has to be as good as a shooter as Shaq right now.

I think it had nothing to do with Lawrence and everything to do with we had zero big men on the bench. His size made him the default big man on the bench when in reality that is not his game

Is this entire post a joke? I literally said "KJ and Caupain seemed lost, but I don't expect that to keep up." I'm well aware that they'll be fine, but thanks for clearing that up.

We're all simply analyzing what we saw last night. If people were freaking out and throwing in the towel, it would be a different story, but come on. Wow.

Like, yeah... That's why I said IMO. Because it's MO...

I have no problem with you having an opinion; I had just never heard someone grade Dixon's defense that harshly. I disagree is all. He wasn't Immanuel McElroy out there, but he was definitely above average to me.

Lots of good comments and observations. This is what exhibition game are for. Be assured the staff saw what we saw and more.
