To show the difference if you used the quad system with rpi vs kenpom

UC with RPI

4-2 Group 1

8-0 Group 2

12-2 combined

UC with Kenpom

1-2 Group 1

6-0 Group 2

7-2 combined

(i dont think i missed any games for the kenpom record but i went over it kinda quick)

Looking at the top 16. Not many teams that are scary. Of course, they all can beat you but I like our chances

All today's reveal showed to me is that the next 3 games are as important as any non Tourney games in the Cronin era. I think 0-3 and 3-0 is worth 20-25 spot difference.

Fact is we gamed the RPI.

But so what? I'd rather game the RPI and get seeded high because of it, than to not game it and be seeded lower and face a tough first round matchup.

I'm excited to be in the postion we are in. Because in the preseason I would have NEVER guessed this would have happened. But things broke the right way and we took advantage. Need to take advantage today. Zero teams win it all or have great seasons without a little bit of luck

Seeding

Whatever it's worth, Chad had posted on his twitter that Cincinnati is the second 2 seed and we were switched with Kansas to balance out the bracket.

It looks like some people are really simplifying the selection process down to quadrant numbers. There are all sorts of criteria. Quadrants are the starting point. Our wins aren't top heavy but quantity is there and so is road performance. We aren't losing bad games and we have demolished some decent teams.

Agree with this completely

I was off on that. Because of the goofy selection rules UC had to be moved around to end up where they should be as the 8th overall seed. I loathe the NCAA... lol

I love it. They say we're 8, it looks like we're 8 on the bracket...but they "had" to switch us to that spot without adjusting our seed. Is that right?

it has to do with a rule that they don't want a difference of over 5 if you add up the top 4 seeds in each region. So take your S-curve number and add them up. originally the one we were in added up to 39 and the kansas one was 31 so they swapped us.

Seems way too complicated. I do get why they'd do it based on their way of doing things though.

The committee considers a balanced bracket to have no more than a five-point separation between the highest and lowest total among the four regions. In this bracket, the West region, with (4) Purdue, (8) Cincinnati, (12) North Carolina and (15) Arizona totaled 39. Boston and Omaha each added up to 33, but Atlanta, with (1) Virginia), (6) Kansas, (11) Michigan St. and (13) Tennessee, only added up to 31. After reviewing options, the committee elected to switch Kansas and Cincinnati, sending the Jayhawks to Los Angeles and the Bearcats to Atlanta.

I wish they would slot the team's similar to the high school tournaments or at least the way they did for OH when my wife coached volleyball.

The committee would seed the teams 1-64. Then the coaches slot themselves based on overall seed order. It starts at the top with seed #1. They can either pick a slot or pass. After any team picks a slot, it starts back at the top of the seed list with any teams that are not yet slotted. There is no limit to the number of passes. If everyone passes in a round, then the last seed remaining has to pick a slot.

It would add an exciting strategy element and let the top teams slot themselves. It will probably never happen that way, but i've always thought it would be cool ts see teh process.

Obviously this will change 17 times before the tournament but seeing X's draw infuriates me. And no one should be happy to have MSU as a 3 seed in their bracket (however if they get their head out of their ass they could vault to a 1).

A UVA/UC matchup would be fantastic to watch. First to 50 wins. Cant wait for March.

Thanks to Houston, we now have 5 Tier 1 wins.

Houston is now #28 in ESPN RPi and #30 in live RPI

If we beat them but they win the rest of the way, they should remain a tier 1 win.

Anyone else think its odd they put 4 of the top 10 defenses in basketball in the same bracket?

Its almost like they want to protect the pretty offensive teams from having to play all out wars with good defensive teams.
