Brannen's Possible Staff

I am getting concerned over Brannon's staff---it is really dragging out --it should not be taking this long, unless several coaches have turned down offers.

In his interview process he talked about getting the right people and it might take time, so it is going to what he has planned

Couple of things that might be in play with the lack of announcements.

NKU's staff list currently reads Darrin Horn and Chris Shumate. I'm guessing Brannen thought Shumate would join him if he didn't become their head coach. Hard to know if he'll stay there or not since Horn might have his own plans.

A few folks on this board have bemoaned the idea of taking most of NKU's staff, but I don't think that would be so bad for now. They might not have recruited the level of athlete UC was attracting but that doesn't mean they aren't capable to win players over. And most of them have worked at larger universities before working at NKU so they are familiar with the arguments of what attracts a kid to a program.

Also, there may be behind the scenes agreements to hire someone but because of NCAA recruiting rules they just haven't taken official steps. A coach who isn't employed can talk to far more players and in different ways than one who is on salary and confined to NCAA regulations.

I don't know if UC just hasn't updated their staff directory or what, but they currently list under men's basketball:

John Brannen
Mark Berger
JaQuon Parker
T.J. Wolf

Sean Dwyer is not listed, so this just might be a website oversight issue.

But it sounds like he's not flying the ship completely solo at this point in time.

Now that DerMarr has graduated, any chance of him becoming an assistant? I think he'd be great on the bench next to Brannen and to help with recruiting.

Any one heard any news on when, who, if we have reached out to any other assistant coaches?

There has been ZERO news on the assistant front.

Thats thing, if we can nail down our staff and get at least 1 high level recruiter, then I'll feel a whole lot better about this Brannen transition.

Just want to know who we are working with on the recruiting trail

I believe there were two recruits on campus today. Forget their names.

Nothing announced?

I’m officially moving over to the “this is ridiculous” team. You simply cannot allow all this bad news without any news you control.

I heard Bohn pumping the ******* bobble head on the radio for Christ’s sake. Deflect much?

Time to make something happen.

Damn, you all need to get a grip.

It sucks they lost Brooks, even though it took him 3.5 years to start to produce a little bit.

It sucks they lost Logan, mainly because they didn't have anyone else at that position (100% Cronin's fault) but he was an athletic PG who couldn't shoot and was an okay ball handler.

It sucks they lost their entire recruiting class, mainly because their recruiting class consisted of one fringe top 150 player who was only a recruit because XU changed coaches.

Ponder that for a moment and reflect just how crappy a job Cronin has been doing on the recruiting trail. Will Brannen do better? Time will tell, but it's still way too early.

As for coaching staff, I have no idea why folks are worried about this. It was a heavy recruiting time period and he has had a handful of recruits on campus lately. Even if he doesn't hire anyone officially, those that he will eventually hire are out there recruiting for their schools and the second they get hired at UC those recruits become UC recruits. It really doesn't matter that much.

How crappy was Cronin on the recruiting trail when he produced back to back AAC players of the years? Or Sean kilpatrick? Or Jacob Evans who got drafted ? Or trot caupain on a two way deal.

If Brannen has a better 5 year span than that then I’ll be impressed. But let’s not down play Cronin’s recruiting when the results are easy to look up.

Who is better in 5 years ? UCLA or UC ? Who lands a 5 star first ? Mick or Brannen.

I mean. All this blame going to Cronin just really sets the expectations to what I believe to be unachieable
