Yes, St. John's lost a close game to UC. But combine the loss with a far weaker resume that includes losses to Fordham and St. Bonaventure, and yes there is a reason to get upset with the comparison.

I initially threw St. John's in there as a bad comparison because of their two awful losses out of conference.

But putting St. John's aside the more upsetting part of your argument that UC should be ranked in the 35-45 range is the 10 teams you would rank immediately ahead of UC.

I'd like to know the reason why you think any of those teams are better than UC

What part of the last game did you not see? Seemed pretty on par with St. Johns to me. I'm kind of surprised you went off there, you seemed pretty upset to be compared to a team UC just barely beat in the last seconds.

Agreed that we should be compared to St Johns. Winning at there place is a big though. Winning on the road in the Big East is just different.

I think we are going to be placed where we should be placed. Around 23-28 range.

This week is huge. 1-1 would not be good enough for me. This is a big week for us. If we go 2-0 and get to 19-3 over all you are getting to big boy numbers and would be getting closer and closer to a NCAA lock.

I would like to see a bracketology if we are 19-3 with wins over WVU, @ St. Johns, Dayton, Xavier and @ OU.

I think we may be in the 6 seed range if that happens.

But we need to first beat Rutgers. If we win it will a relief but if we lose we will have lost the good will of winning @ st johns.

Honestly, I don't know that they are, I just found it odd how upset you were about being compared to a team that UC narrowly escaped.

I hate to bring up the schedule because I know it's been talked about so much, but this is an instance where it hurts UC. Not that top 25 really matters right now though.

The reason for my post was not because I was upset about being compared to St. John's. Actually I started that comparison. It was one example of a team out of the eight that I provided.

My issue is with people saying UC should not be in the 25 without saying which teams they think are better.

Just throwing out the Statement "this is not a top 25 team" is really weak without at least comparing UC to the last 5 in and the last 5 out of the top 25.

I know this is a bit off topic but does anyone have a good site that shows UC highlights of the current games they just played? I check bigeast.org and espn but they seem to be subjective with their highlights and do not include us all the time. i.e. the st.johns game. I think it is crazy that UC.edu, bearcats own school website does not even show game highlights...

Interesting stat from Lance's blog......

Teams and wins against RPI Top 25 competition

5: UConn
4: Pitt, Texas
3: Syracuse, Minnesota, St John's, Notre Dame, West Virginia, Tennessee
2: Ohio St, Kentucky, Michigan St, Marquette, South Carolina, USC, Illinois
1: Cincinnati, Duke, Villanova, Kansas, Louisville, Missouri, Wisconsin, Washington, Purdue, North Carolina, BYU, Texas AM, Florida, Vanderbilt. (not the complete list)
0: Xavier, Butler, San Diego St, Georgetown, Arizona. (not the complete list)

Regardless of how sloppy the SJU game was and how frustrating it continues to be to watch this team play basketball you cannot deny that Saturday's win was a big win for this team.
