I was concerned about the rebounding. When the game was in question, Cincinnati rebounded very well. UC is just so much better when Rubles, Jackson and Kilpatrick are all on the floor together. The first half was a hodgepodge of line-ups, Mick knew this one was in the bag.

47% from the field. 17 assist on 25 made field goals. Held USF to 51 points on under 40% shooting. VICTORY...NEXT

27 straight opponents under 70. The UC defense plays a part in making teams look bad. Mick searching for a secondary line up with Lawrence out.

Mick echoing a lot of our sentiments. He wants the team to dominate, saying the guys just want to win but he wants them to be better. As always he is spot on.

I've got this bad feeling that Sunday is going to be a bad day. I foresee a few key guys with 2 fouls early in the game...

It really seems like the last 3-4 games the refs have been pretty picky on UC. Have you noticed every game one of our 3 seniors gets 2 quick fouls , stupid fouls in the 1st half? Tonight was embarrassing with how one sided it was.

Only saw the second half, but Jackson was incredible. He gets that look in his eye and he will not be denied on offense or defense. 18-2 is more than any of us would have asked for preseason; take care of business on Sunday, then this team MUST show up for a top 15 matchup on Thursday. Go cats!

I agree. I want them to put 2 halves together but also not going to feel bad about 18-2 and first place. Something has been missing mentally the past 3-4 games.

Are you just talking about this year or the future of the program? I'd agree that we've pretty much seen what we have on offense this year. I do have hope, however, for better offensive efficiency in the years to come with the influx of bigs next year. Hopefully we'll end up with better spacing, more attempts around the basket, and more chances to kick the ball out to open shooters. The offense was much better during Gates' last two years.

If this team's defense could score at that clip, we would be a true top 10 team with realistic national title chances. Big if, but that's all that is missing. If we're going to have a defense play at this level year in and year out, its probably just a matter of time before they break through to a final 4.

This stood out to me, Jackson played 38 minutes and got 2 rebounds. Shaq played 17 mins and got 5 rebounds.

It sounds like I'm asking a lot, but I really wish we'd just DOMINATE a team. UCF is a team that a 15th ranked team should absolutely dominate, especially at home. Yeah, they say winning is "all that matters", which is true, but having UCF playing right there with us isn't exactly a confidence builder.

Definitely agree. Three starters had 2 fouls most of the first half though. No SK, Shaq or Rubles down thre stretch in the first half didn't help. If they were in, we get walk ons 5 minutes of PT.

There was a stretch in the second half where Jackson got called for a moving screen...again. Seems like he gets one a game. The thing is that UCF was setting illegal screens most of the game and they get none called on them. After the moving screen foul called, Rubles gets his 4th foul at midcourt going for a steal. When we play UL, UConn UC cannot afford to get cheap fouls on Titus and Jackson being so thin up front.

Great game. Well, great 2nd half. Yeah it seems like occasionally JJ is just MIA when it comes to boards. I think he's just out of place. Shaq had a great game that went relatively unnoticed. 6 pts, 5 rbs, 5 ast. SK finding his stroke again: 19 pts, 6/11 FG, 3/6 threes, 4/4 FT. You can tell defenses are totally okay with Guyn shooting. Many times UCF gave him a lot of space to launch. Guyn needs to understand that's not his area. Maybe 1, 2 tops wide open threes a game, but no more. Got to dish it off and be smarter.

JJ and Rubles can't afford to get cheap fouls even if Lawrence returns. JJ is out of position, he should be playing the 4 but I told everyone at the beginning of the year, regardless of if Strickland played, that it wouldn't surprise me if Mick used two 4s.

Jackson was being double boxed by UCF but his rebounding at times leaves much to be desired. His positioning against bigger players is lacking and he really needs to concentrate on that going forward. JMax tried to give him some pointers in Tampa.

I think UC CAN be better offensively. Not greatly but I think they can be more efficient. The offense works fairly well when they pass into the post or high post and share the ball. TC seems to be in a funk as well but he'll get his second wind.

GG needs to go to the basket more. He simply settles for open shots they want him to take.

I thought JJ had one of his worst games in a while. Sure the box score doesn't show it but he reverted back to his o'lay defense while going for a block every single time. While he did have some nice blocks (and 7 of them) he gave up so many points because he either let his defender drive right past him for a layup or gave his man an easy layup by going for a help side block. He also dropped every pass given to him and had some bad turnovers. Hopefully he snaps out of it and starts playing like he did during the stretch of games where he was unstoppable.

Shouldn't be playing the 4? Hell, for the first three years everyone here thought he should be a 3. He hasn't been playing out of position lately, he just hasn't been playing as good as he is capable of playing.

And GG thinks he is a gunslinger. You could tell every time on offense he was just itching to get a 3 point shot off. You'd think with his percentages and the fact that he isn't even close on half of them that he'd stop and realize that maybe he should act like a PG.

Guys I might point out that we out rebounded them 36-31. JJ did tie his career high in Blocks. My point is while JJ didn't lite up the board rebounding others did. Blocking shots at the rate he does sometimes can leave him out of position but if he is going to cover for there mistakes defensively by swatting away shots at the rim them crashing the boards isn't out of the question. As a team we boarded well.

If JJ plays like he did last night against UL, we are going to get destroyed inside. There were several times Blair drove around him. There were also several times Sykes drove in pulled JJ out and then passed to low block for layup/dunk.
