I think most will agree that the officiating was atrocious yesterday. Also, I think most think we got the shortend of the stick. Well, I agree.

FACTS:

Cincinnati = 26 fouls
WVU = 13 fouls

1st Half:

Cincy = 11 fouls
WVU = 5 fouls

2nd Half:

UC was whistled for 15 fouls. 8 of these fouls came in the first 11 minutes of the second half, thus putting WVU in the bonus and very close to the double bonus.

WVU was whistled for 8 fouls. 4 of the fouls came within the first four minutes of the half.

UC had 3 fouls from 16:55-16:21 (1 on Gates; 1 on Ibra; 1 on DV).

The rebounding margin was essentially tied at halftime. WVU went on to outrebound us by 11, a product of Ibra and Yancy sitting on the bench due to foul trouble and us having to play zone (which leads to offensive rebounds for WVU).

FWIW, even the announcers (i.e. Kelly) mentioned how much the officiating changed the entire game because Gates was forced to sit on the bench. Gates scored 10 points in 20 minutes.

Just FACTS folks. Just FACTS.

Shooting 30 percent in the 2nd half had nothing to do with the loss. :)

Gates played twenty minutes and was credited with zero rebounds. Bishop played 30 and had two.

“It killed us,” Cronin said. “It killed our rebounding. It killed us in the first half because I thought we could have had a 15-point lead if Yancy and Thomas wouldn’t have had to come out.

“It forced my hand to make different substitutions that in turn really hurt our rebounding. I’m the opposing coach so I’m going to point to the whistle being blown on my guys 26 times to 13.”Gates appeared baffled by several of the calls that went against him, but he did not complain after the game.

“Sometimes that’s just the way the game goes,” he said. “You have to try to play through it.”

NO BIG DEAL:
“I think we’re both getting used to it,” Cronin said. “We both have so many other problems in life that we’re the least of each other’s worries. He told me he’s trying to lose weight and I’m trying to gain weight, so we might have to start hanging out more. I’ll eat his food.”

Said Huggins: “I just want to beat anybody. I want to beat Mountain State.”

LIMITING GATES: Gates scored 22 points with 11 rebounds in UC’s win over West Virginia last year in Cincinnati so Huggins was pleased to see that Gates did not corral a single rebound in 20 minutes Saturday.

“That was a point of emphasis for us to keep him off the glass,” Huggins said, “because he killed us last year.”

FEAR WORKS: Asked why his team rebounded so fiercely in the second half, Huggins uttered one word.

“Fear,” he said.

What does that have to do with Sean Kilpatrick, Lance's best friend.

You have no legitimate facts that will show Sean Kilpatrick will come in and play like Jordan. But just like Riek, you think one player, who has never played a single Division I game, will change everything. Your old and senile.

Let's not be nasty to Ralph. He has the right to believe what he wants, even if it's not popular.
We need to make our points w/o personal attack.

It is not just about adding one player, it is also about freshman becoming sophomores etc. Turn 5 of those close losses into wins this team is 21-7. There is much to look forward to.

This is why I will always love/respect huggs. You could tell he said something that struck fear into his team at halftime bc they were literally getting 2 shots everytime down the floor in the 2nd half. IMO this is what lost us the game. The way we struggle on offense we need to get every single defensive rebound. Defense is our forte and rebounding is a part of that.

Also on a side note I read an article today on Lance's blog that said Huggs has brought a treadmill into the gym during practices. If one of his players isn't hustling or rebounding in practice he makes them go run on the treadmill for practice. Haha maybe Mick needs this for Yancy. Not only will he be in better condition....his butt will be working in practice!

It's hard to watch Huggs on the other sidelines and not think 'what if'. Although a change in scenery was beneficial to him.

He has done this in the past. Exactly what Yancy needs. Hell bring that treadmill to the games.

can you take all my losing lottery tickets and make them winners and make me feel better and while you're at it make me some chicken salad out of this sh*t! Thanks

Here's a happy thought.....at least we're not Canadian, where a hockey game win gives us national cred, and a loss would have not only ruined the olympics, but our national pride as well.
So drink up Canadians, for tonite you are winners, but tomorrow.....you'll return to being America's hat.
