David I think you summed things up very nicely.

You mention Tuberville at practice and wanting a hungry coach...another reason I want Fleck. That guy wears cleats to practice and runs around like a maniac coaching his ass off. I heard him in a postgame press conference after routing Georgia Southern and he was talking about how exhausted the whole staff was from coaching so hard and adjusting on the fly. We need energy in the worst way. And like others, I don't mind if a young guy is using us as a stepping stone (assuming we stay in the AAC) bc if a big name comes calling, that means we have had a very nice few year run.

And if not, that probably means you need to fire the guy and his buyout wouldn't be too large. You just can't have too many poor hires in a row. Get a couple good ones in a row and you can get this thing rolling for another decade.

I have a simple question for all the naysayers (TYZ, jacobkdoyle, etc.) on here----Have any of you played college football or coached even at the high school level?? Please answer me that.

What does that have to do with anything? So if you haven't coached or played football you can't have an opinion? There are many ADs I'm sure that haven't played or coached football and hire and fire football coaches.

I knew that was going to be the response, "what does that have to do with anything?" Yes, people can have an opinion, but is it a well informed opinion? In other words, it is like you having an opinion about how the doctor performed his heart by-pass surgery. Yes, an opinion, but worthless. I cannot believe the number of people, so uninformed, spewing out opinions about stuff they know nothing about. Sometimes you say the dumbest ass stuff I have heard. Just my opinion!

I have coached under Bill Belichick for the last 15 years. 😀

Sorry. I don't watch game film of surgeons performing heart surgery. If I did, I'd have an opinion on that too. I've watched enough football in my life to be able to discern when a program is headed in the wrong direction. So if I don't know what I'm talking about, please explain to me how the last few seasons have been as good or better than the 10+ win seasons we had before Tuberville showed up here.

Poor analogy. People can look at a doctor's record and compare one with several malpractice lawsuits and one with a great record without knowing how to perform brain surgery.

It doesn't take a brain surgeon to discern between a poor coach or a great coach.

You don't choose your heart surgeon based on how much they know compared to you. You choose them based on reputation which is performance related.

this is stupid and no different from the dipshits screaming "nerd!!!!" at all the non-athletic people who actually know what goes into building a winning baseball team

I may not be a heart surgeon, but if too many people keep dying then eventually I know they are doing a bad job. It does not take expertise to recognize poor performance when compared to peers.

I am officially off the Tuberville train and have selected my pitchfork.

I have never been President of The United States but I sure as Hell get to vote for one every four years.

Nope, have you?

You literally are the only person out of dozens and dozens maybe upwards of 100 people I've talked to that has tuberville's back. Since you want to question all of us, please explain yourself and your qualifications and how you see that tuberville has done anything close to a good job here. And you can have played and coached, doesn't amount to a hill of beans on how Tuberville is doing at his job. I don't have to have coached or played to understand how one team out plays another, how one player outperforms another. In fact our grand ole coach has more coaching experience than anybody on this board combined even if we throw out what level of coaching it may be at and he is inept, so what really is your point? His job is to win and get his players to play at their highest level. He took over a team doing just that. So obviously the difference in now and five to ten years ago is solely on him. If he were a good coach he should have ZERO problem taking over a number one team in a conference and maintaining status quo. A good coach gets his players to play smart and play disciplined and a good coach executes a game plan to put his players in a position to win. A good coach with equal talent wins alot more often than not against that equal talent. A good coach can recruit the right players to maintain equal talent to the rest of his conference. And a team that win the league 5 of 6 years, plays in a hotbed for high school football and has a resume and name that he does should have no problem out recruiting his conference mates. So not only should he have better talent, if he were a good coach he should be out coaching his peers. So why isn't he? Explain all that instead of pointing fingers and side stepping the issues at hand. You believe in tuberville, explain how he took a program at the top and has relegated it to the situation it is on now. Every year we play 3 or 4 teams in the bottom 10 percent of football, on top of playing an FCS school. So we get 4 to 5 what should be gimme wins every year. So explain why he goes 2-6 vs. The rest if he is worth his salt? We have talent, we have the pieces to win in our conference. We don't though, that is 98 percent on tuberville. So explain how he will right the ship?

Anyone want some entertainment, listen to TT press conference today. I don't have a link but the quotes I am reading on twitter are awesome.

#UC off. coordinator Zac Taylor makes the call on who starts at QB, Tuberville said. Head coach signs off on it, essentially

Tubs throwing Zac under the bus. He also said fans calling him out/names doesn't bother him. Said he doesn't hear it during games bc he has a headset.

Is that why he has blocked so many people on twitter?! He is such a clown.

It's all about deflection for him. Clown is the right term to use as far as I'm concerned. I'm a pretty forgiving fan. I'm optimistic by nature and typically lean towards a conservative approach when it comes to firing coaches. I'm done with TT. I feel like he is insulting the intelligence of every fan of the program. He is the first coach I have ever heard complain about the atmosphere at Nippert being negative. More than a decade ago apathy might have been a decent term to use but never negative. TT needs to wake up and understand people aren't negative about the program and players, just him and the direction he is taking the program. That's on TT, not the fans.

Yep. And quitting the BYU game with 4 minutes left, trying that FG with a backup kicker, and punting on 4th and 5 at midfield in the 4th quarter are all huge slaps in the face to his players and the fans who shell out money to come and watch his team. He's a dead man walking. No way he can come back from all of this and I think he finally realizes it.

Well I did stay at a Holiday Inn express once....:)

No, I never played football in college or coached football on the HS level.... but wait a minute, I DID do two OTHER sports in college, and coached 3 other sports on the HS level. In fact I participated at a very high level in a different sport beyond college. NONE of this makes me an expert on the UC football coaching situation, but even without this background I can have an opinion. My opinion, based on what I have observed and my personal experience as a college athlete and high school coach, is that Tubberville's days are numbered. As a very long time season ticket holder, I'm not going to be sorry to see him go. As a very long time fan, who has read many books on coaching, and observed thousands of games over the years, I disagree with much of the decisions he has made during games. As someone who has not been privy to his film work, game planning, or discussions with other coaches, I can't have as informed an opinion as someone that does have access to this information, but I can still have an opinion. Flawed that it might be. UC is not going to make a decision on his future employment based on any opinion exposed on a chat board. Recruits aren't going to make a life changing decision based on what they read here, either. (At least I HOPE this is true!).

So everyone should be free to express their personal opinions, and ones background has nothing to do with that.
