Spring game is Saturday, talked with a few guys in the program they said to watch for three quarterbacks in the spring game. The third being Ross trail who they said has been killing it in practice.

But yep it's time tommy needs to go, should never have been hired in the first place. Heard recently that when butch left a lot of the players got together and formed a petition to hire kerry combs. The man wants the job and would be perfect

Lets have two home town boys!

Coombs wanted the job I think he's beyond that point now though. But nice to think about him as HC, Ramsey from Elder as OC and Specht from St. X as DC. By the way that wasn't just a fantasy either it was well known around the area that Specht and Ramsey were ready to make the jump. Think about the local and statewide recruiting that could have occurred.

You are kidding, aren't you?

Do you honestly think those guys would coach under Coombs?

Yes they have a huge amount of respect for him (a ton more than they do Bolden). Granted Spechts guys were run off Colerain's campus a bunch of times trying to recruit but it was already agreed upon. Coombs sincerely thought he was going to be offered the job and would have accepted immediately. Coach Haynes at Lakota East (OC at colerain for years) would have been associate coach and QB coach as well.

DREAM ON

Would love to see all these Cincinnati coaches and all the local talent on one team in the big 12. Go CATS! BRING THE FAN BASE ON!!!

Yeah would love to see it but it's beyond happening now at least with Coombs at the helm. He's extremely happy at OSU and making a very pretty penny for what he does. When he came back for 10th anniversary of state championship team he told everybody OSU is his last stop. Also think it hurt him a little not to be even considered for the job here.

Coombs would be a horrible hire. Probably worse than Tuberville.

Kerry still has great relationships with elder and st x coaches. Kombs and Specht similar I'm a lot of ways, I get what your saying he said at your banquet but I've heard in the past combs say uc would be his dream job and I know he's happy at osu and told y'all it's his last stop but I have a hard time imagining him turning down the head coaching job, with an oppertunity to raid the gcl for cordinators and rejuvenate this program.

Also you mentioned they respect him way more than bolden maybe so because combs is accomplished at the college level but they respect bolden. Hell Specht and bolden are like best friends.

I disagree. Combs players absolutely loved him at uc and now do at osu. Uc players made and signed a petition petition to hire him after butch and the former players Ive talked to think he'd come back in a heart beat. you can not deny he would have his players fired up and ready to go every snap of every game and would keep the local talent

Outward friendship is all good and fine but on the football field Coombs garnered way more respect from GCL school coaches.

His knowledge of the game, leadership and ability to motivate and make guys play above themselves translates anywhere. Saying he would have been a horrible hire is just plain incorrect in my opinion. Ask Urban Meyer and Brian Kelly about Coombs coaching and recruiting ability.

If you want a look inside who he is go to YouTube and look up Kerry Coombs recruiting speech.

How's it looking for Tuberville to get fired after this season? I know last year there were a lot of openings so we probably wouldn't have got a good hire but it has to happen this year, right?!

I know you have pushed for Coombs many times here. You played for him i think? Not sure of Bearcat Rob is also a colerain grad. But I am starting to like the idea of him as a HC here. How old is he now?

Would it really be a good idea for Ramsey and Specht to go straight from HS to college coordinators??? That seems like a reach. There are VETERAN coaches we bring in as OC and DC. I could see them coming on ad asst coaches. Do they know the college game and schemes?

3rd and last Q: would he accept if offered now?

Edit I see Rob was from other HS and u think he would not come. I think if Ono gave him the pitch he would come. Everyone wants to be the top Dog

Coombs is in his 50's. If he ever had any aspirations of being a head coach, he would be insane to turn down the UC job. He's a local guy who could recruit well here. That said, I wouldn't personally want him. He hasn't even been a coordinator at the college level that I'm aware of. That's an awfully big leap, even if he is a great recruiter.

Thanx. That is the knock on him. And that his position players were not great.
He has not been a coordinator at the converge level. I still think he could bring energy, talented players to the team.

I am not a colrain grad just personally know him and have heard combs say uc would be his dream job a few years back. He's in his 50s I think he's like 54 honestly but I get he's happy at osu and wouldn't leave for an extremely small school but there's 0 chance he would turn down the job here and not come home. I get its a big jump for him, but players would do anything for him (I mentioned earlier the petition the uc players got together to try and convince the AD to hire him after butch left), they would play with an attitude and always show up. Also cinci is booming with talent and he'd keep it all here and that's some big time talent. Now for specht and Ramsey its a little different a few years back they would have been all over it, but this is a huge opportunity for them and can't see them turning it down (also both have good relationship with combs). Would it all work? My opinion I think you'd all love the disciplined tough product they'd put out there each week, combs and specht are tough fiery coaches I think it'd be awsome. But that's just my opinion
