Cobb vs Johnson

I think some on here would argue the sky is red if someone else said it was blue. SMH

How is Jenifer's shot? I can't imagine he is even in the same ballpark as TC on FTs, 3s, or finishing at the hoop. I bet he's way behind KJ and Cobb in that regard as well. I just see him as a pure backup this year who will never be counted on for even 5 points in big games (which is fine). Maybe he can get some minutes and make some plays vs lower competition.

As for Evans, I think he'd force his way on the floor no matter what position he played. He seems to be the most ready-to-contribute guy. I don't know how he'll stack up with Jenifer and Scott over the course of their careers, but I feel like Evans is way ahead for a freshman.
Jenifer has played the best competition out of all the newcomers. Nothing against tc but if we want to really go deep you have give keys to jenifer now. Let him make his mistakes now come February he'll be one of top PG in conference. Let tc loose at 2. He's team best pure shooter and slasher. He lacks every major you won't out of a pg(passing, dribbling, vision are below average).

Im not going to argue with you, But its pretty obvious what our weakest position is going into preseason based on last year

We hear every year where shaq is supposed to be breaking out and he never has. so until he does, the 3 remains the weakest. But, id take that over past years where we had questions at 2 or 3 starting spots
I'll take Shaq over Tc and cobb. Let him run he scores 10 easy

Quadri played vs the best HS competition too...we saw how that worked last year. We don't have 7 new guys this year, why force established players out of the rotation in favor of inexperienced, unproven players?

This is TC's team this year and next. There is probably a 0.00000% chance Jenifer gets the start over him. I'm expecting big things out of him this year.

If it was so easy shaq would have been doing that the last 3 years. Troy has played 1 less season than shaq and shaq has only scored 39 more points.
Troy has had ball in hands 85% more than Shaq. When we run we usually win big and Shaq does well

Great teams do it every year. Nothing is given let best players start no matter seniority

well except for the fact troy played 130 less minutes than shaq did during the 2013-2014 season and still managed only 47 less points. And there was a reason troy has the ball in his hands more than shaq last year. He is the PG. Shaq in his 3 years has shown that if he goes fast, like you said he should, he turns the ball over nearly every time.

Shaqs been given the benefit of the doubt based on "potential" while troy is actually producing. Give me production over potential any day of the week

Jenifer will get his chances. If he ends up being really good right away, his minutes and role will reflect that. But he isn't going to be given the keys from day 1.

move tc to the 2. Jenifer pg skills are something we haven't witnessed since satterfield.

well as people have said in previous posts, troy isnt and shouldnt move off the ball. so you can just drop that one because its not happening. Not to say they wont ever be on the floor together, but moving troy off the ball completely so jenifer can start has less than a 0% chance of happening. Not to mention, you move troy off the ball and start jenifer then you have no backup PG. so again 0% chance

Once again I am going to preface this by saying I don't think it is likely that Troy will not be our starting PG the next two years.

However, with that being said you play the players at the positions that make you the most effective team.

Caupain and Jenifer have two COMPLETELY different styles and skill sets. Although Troy is an awesome basketball player and we need him on the court IMO...it's not hard to imagine a completely different set of skills potentially making our style of offense run more effectively from the PG position. I am not even claiming to know which style that would be...but many of us have been waiting for someone with Jenifer's skill set for a while now. I assume there was a reason for that.

As an example take a QB like Mike Vick and put him in a pocket passing scheme. While he may be one of the most talented athletes in the world...an overall less talented guy who is a pocket passer may be more effective.

I guess what I am saying is it will be interesting to see the difference in what our offense will run like when Jenifer does come in the game compared to when Troy is in. I am not predicting it will run better but it will probably look a lot different. Troy is capable of starting the offense with a pass to the wing almost from half court because he is strong and tall enough. Jenifer will have to dribble around the top of the perimeter and try to penetrate the lane to start the offense. Those two styles aren't remotely close to one another and may have decidedly different results.

Waterhead, I think everybody gets what you are saying. Having those different skill sets will be advantageous, the question is when will Jenifer's be able to be utilized. He is an undersized freshman PG. Different skill set or not, it will be tough for him to make an impact this year. Next year is a different story with a year under his belt and Cobb gone from the program.

Completely agree.

I agree that it's unlikely (which is why I stated it in almost every post) but as a fan of course I hope he's awesome from day one...who is not hoping for that?

When we run Shaq and team does better than when Tc walks ball up court every time and he's only guy that scored 10-12 pts

Not even satterfield got keys 1st day. As season goes along after 4-5 games coach a see he needs to kick start offense and put him in lineup. Might move Shaq to bench and go with 3 guard lineup
