Conference realignment stuff

Ralph show me a link that states the ACC schools have turned down the Big Ten. Frankly, I believe you are making stuff up to prove your point.

There is no doubt in my mind something big is going to go down soon. I don't know how any rational person can look at all the clues and think otherwise

#NotreDame stays in Big East for '13-'14, but AD Jack Swarbrick says '14-'15 ACC arrival is no guarantee. Trib update: http://trib.in/X9tMB9

RALPH IS WRONG AGAIN!

This just in. ESPN's Brett McMurphy just told The Latern that he believes the "Big Ten will be the conference that sets off the next wave of expansion"

So now we have the following saying the big 10 will expand:
-sporting news
-Brett mcmurphy
-Greg swaim
-chip brown of Texas rivals
-sportsman cave
-Houston cougars 247 guy
-Oliver luck wv ad

I forgot the Dallas star and espn!

None of those except TSN is mainstream, all have agendas, mostly selling $100 subscriptions to WVU fans. All McMurphy is doing is offering an opinion, there is nothing factual about his opinion. The Big 10 has no one to expand with. Notre Dame has been turning down the Big 10 for the last 25 years. All the AAU ACC teams turned down the Big 10 in the last 2 months, UVA, GT, UNC, that is why the Big 10 ended up with Maryland the last school on their list.

BM, your posts are nonsensical, you need to sign up for my Conference Realignment 101 course.

You are disagreeing just to disagree

Those don't work when you are the same person you are arguing with.

Do you think Maryland was the first choice? UNC said no, Duke said no, UVA said no, GT said no, the Big 10 ended up with Maryland.

Nowhere did he say anything about Maryland and if they were first choice. He asked for a link and you are trying to change the subject while we continue to wait for your "proof."

NO kidding. And truthfully, how many schools are really going to turn down the Big 10 with all that $ and the fact that if you get into that conference you are set for the foreseeable future? You would no longer have to worry about conference realignment at all. There are really only 3 conferences that can say that (Big 10, SEC, Pac 12).

The Ralph logic 101

UNC official "the B1G and SEC wants us but unfortunately they want to pay us substantially more money and give us way more exposure. In addition to this bad news, well also have guarenteed bcs spots with the potential to earn even more money as well as legitimate playoff/national championship opportunities. Now that will not happen starting in the 2014 season in the acc. Any questions?

UNC official #2 "Sounds awful. Lets tell the B1G and SEC thanks but no thanks

Notre Dame has been publicly turning down the Big 10 for the last 25 years.

The ACC schools enjoy being in the ACC. They appreciate the tradition of the ACC. They enjoy the schools they are associated with. They enjoy the geographic closeness of the schools. They do not want a regular diet of traveling to Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska. ACC schools have very large endowments, they do not need the money.

Notre Dame is joining the ACC for all sports except football, ND football is going to play 5 games a year against ACC teams. Everyone wants to play football against ND, everyone wants ND in their conference.

Bottom line, no more ACC schools will leave to join the Big 10.

I'm confused...there was still no link or proof in that post.

Are you just going to completely avoid the posts that don't fit your agenda now?

Where is the link to the announcement that UNC is joining the Big 10?

If there is no such link or announcement, by deductive reasoning, I am therefore correct.

We aren't talking Notre Dame. We are talking ACC schools.

Sure, they all like all the stuff you mention (tradition (though how much do they like this if they steal half of the big east), geography, etc). But those are all "nice to haves"

The new world of college football has some "need to haves"
1) $
2) Guaranteed access to highest level bowls
3) Stability

The ACC provides little of #1, a little of #2, and zero of #3.

The Big 10 provides a ton of #1, a certainty of #2, and a certainty of #3.

Sometimes you have to let go of your "nice to haves" in order to get your "musts".

So because there was no announcement that UNC is joining the Big 10, your logical conclusion is that they don't want to be there. ok, it all makes perfect sense now...

Again, who said UNC is joining the Big 10? The only one that made a definitive statement was you so we just want to see the link that is all.

We aren't saying you are necessarily wrong, we just want to see where you are reading about no ACC team ever going to the Big 10.

The ACC provides all of those. 1) Each ACC school will receive between $20 million to $26 million a year throughout the life of the current TV contract. 2) The ACC owns the Orange Bowl, which is one of the highest level bowls, the ACC champion has guaranteed access to the Orange Bowl. The ACC will receive $27.5 Million every year from the Orange Bowl. The ACC gets the same share of the playoff money as the other 4 power conferences, the agreement to split the playoff money equally among the Power 5 was signed several months ago 3) the ACC was started over 60 years ago, in those 60 years they have only lost 2 members, South Carolina and Maryland, while gaining VT, BC, Miami, FSU, Syracuse, Pitt, Louisville, and ND.

The acc payment is BACKLOGGED. Meaning the substantial revene(which is still less than the B1G, B12, and SEC) won't kick in until 2020 and because there is no GoR, schools may leave and nullify that deal. These schools exploring options are struggling NOW

The bowl games are being negotiated as we speak to align with the new playoff format. The acc, be, Cusa, mwc, and the rest will be fighting for ONE bcs spot out of 12 total. 11 of the 12 BCS teams will be from the Pac12, B1G, SEC and B12.

The ACC is anything but stable. The following teams have inquired about joining other conferences:

FSU
VT
GT
BC
MIAMI
CLEMSON
DUKE
NC STATE
UNC
VIRGINIA

The following people have said the B1G will move in on the acc followed by the sec and b12:

Brett mcmurphy espn
Chip brown Texas rivals
Dallas star
The sporting news
WVU AD Oliver luck
Ohio state president Gordon Gee
northwestern ad
Michigan AD
247 beat writers from Clemson, Baylor, Texas, Ohio state, Virginia, VT, FSU, Miami, UConn, LSU and others
Greg swaim
Sportsman cave

Give it up Ralph. You have provided ZERO evidence from anyone reliable supporting your false claim

The Big 10 will not invite a school to join, with the exception of ND, that is not a member of the American Association of Universities.

The 4 ACC schools that are members are Duke, UNC, Virginia, GT. As all of these schools passed on joining the Big 10 last fall when Maryland (the only other AAU school in the ACC) was invited, the Big 10 is closed out of the ACC.
