Deveroes Summer League

BearcatTalk

Help Support BearcatTalk:

I tried to play in the summer league, but couldn't get a call back. Huh.

Let me clarify, I have the ability to make a layup and a putback, I'm not a beast or anything down low

Sounds like we've got a lot of guys with a lot of talk on here... anybody have any real background in basketball past, say, high school?...

I never played organized ball (one year in 3rd grade)... baseball was my sport...

Went down to see the action today. Very lackluster. They didn't have the rosters available so its hard to say if there were many no shows or if the field is just watered down this year. The Slats team didn't play. The only Bearcats that played were Gates and Dixon who played in the last game. I will say Gates gave a good effort out there. It didn't looked like he had lost any weight. Maybe he gained weight since the season and that's the ten pounds he lost. But he did at least hustle on some plays. Dixon looked very fluid as usual and didn't shoot well as usual. Their team got hammered. Not much hustle from their team as a whole and they got beat down the floor just about every possession.

Saw this on the BCL message board from Todd Cunningham. It is free and I have linked below.

I spoke to Mick today about his plans for his players to compete in the Deveroes summer league.

"Tell Bearcat Nation that I will do whatever the players want to do" said Cronin when asked if his players would be playing in the DSL in 2010. He went on to say that he will leave it up to each individual player to decide for themselves if they want to participate or not. He mentioned that so far not one single player has come up to him to ask about the DSL. He states that they are busy playing against each other and against former Bearcats in open gym.

Mick also told me that Eric Hicks contacted him not too long ago to ask if he could come work out with the team this summer. Mick replied Hell Yes! you are welcome anytime you want to come.

I'm guessing Mick can't really say much about the Deveroes league. The past two years just about every player available has played in it. I can't imagine this year will be different. Most will play on the Slats team which has a bye the first week of games. Part of me is even thinking if Cash tweaked something that they might have put him in a cast or whatever to keep him from playing. I remember last year Vaughn got hurt and was out there playing while limping on the court. Not very smart in a summer league to risk your season.

Now about Hicks. That would be awesome if he would work out with the team. He could do wonders for not only Gates and Jackson, but just in instilling that Bearcat attitude in all the players. I've been hoping the last few years we could get some former players to come work out with the team. Hicks would be #1 on my list. That might be the best news we've heard all offseason.

Anybody in attendance last night? I was looking at the boxscores and noticed some other 'Cats played last night. It looks like Wilks and Biggie are on the same team, and Biggie had a double-double (12 and 10). Parker put up 21 points on the board. I would really like to hear from anyone who was there last night, to get their reaction.
Go Bearcats!

Surprised you weren't down there, man. I'd be interested to hear if anyone was down there as well. Were any of these players that played last night on any of the teams we saw Sunday? Wonder why they didn't play?

Good looking out, I'm too lazy to walk the ten feet to your door, plus I'd have to put pants on. It looks like SI Pool Care is the only new team that played last night. I assume that's the team Biggie and Wilks were on. Parker must've just not played Sunday on whichever team he was on. I couldn't open the documents, apparently my Microsoft Office can't be found right now to open it.

Come on man. The imagery is killing me. Did we really need to go there? :D

Our next poll should be how many BT users wear pants when at home and how many are in their boxers/briefs. I'm home less than two minutes and I'm down to socks, undershirt and boxers. That's how I roll. And don't worry, I'm dead sexy in it if you must put imagery to it.

I imagine you being about 5'7", brunette, about 115 lbs, C-cups, and sexy as hell. Oh yeah, I also imagine you as a woman....just to be clear. ;)
