Sunday 7/18
Yancy and Dion played in the second game of the day against the NKU team. Yancy looked very good today. Dunks, rebounding, defense (for the most part), even shooting. He shot a couple 3s that displayed nice touch. Don't mind Yancy taking a few jumpers as long as it doesn't get out of control. The NKU team had nobody to match Yancy, and he did get a little lazy on the defensive end of the game when his team got up by 15-20 points. But once again, good day for Yancy as he scored I think 23.
Dion started off hitting two quick 3s, then disappeared for the majority of the game until he had two dunks in the second half. Finished with 10 on the day I believe.
Slats (Kilpatrick, Jackson) took on Clovernook (Bishop, Biggie) in the last game of the day.
Jackson was the beneficiary of a couple and 1's early in the game and probably finished with a little over 10 points for the game. Once again, he will not 'wow' you with anything but he does a lot of things solid. The thing that stood out to me was that Clovernook had one player (Tyrone Bradshaw) who was absolutely tearing it up and could not be stopped. He threw down an absolute nasty dunk, so the next possession Jackson was all up in his grill, and nearly had a steal but got called for an iffy foul. Well, after the foul, Jackson ended up getting a clean steal on the next possession. Just shows you what type of player he is.
Terrell Holloway (XU) ran with Slats today, so it took some pressure off of Kilpatrick. He and Holloway shared time running the point. He didn't shoot as much today because he actually has some help now, but he still probably had close to 20. Had a nice finish on the break and was 4-4 from the line I believe.
Biggie played decent. Grabbed some rebounds, hit a couple shots, some turnovers. Him and Toyloy were going after each other, in a good way though.
Bishop looked terrible today. His shot was off, he was forcing way too much, just a bad overall game. Looked like he hadn't played basketball in a while, but he did have a couple nice moves and passes. Looks to be in great shape, although he was always been.
In the stands today were Cash, Thomas, and Larry Davis. It was cool to see Dion and Yancy come back from their 1:00 game to watch Slats play at 4:00 and support their teammates.
