Fire Mick

Get out of here. How bad was Mick in the WSU game for the league title. How about the Houston game for conference title. The team coughed it up and Mick is part of the team. They all bear responsibility for the melt down.

We had an incredible opportunity this year with the way the bracket was set up and playing out to make a serious run with the best team UC has had in all of Mick's years and quite a few of the Huggins years. We choked in what was a historic comeback by Nevada. I don't know what happened to Jacob Evans but he absolutely needs to return for his senior year as he played poorly down the stretch this year. Mick needs to calm down and start recruiting better. Not having a big man on the roster with any offensive ability and no incoming recruits to replace Clark and Washington is amazing if you think about it. We have so many minutes available at those two positions and a new arena and he couldn't find a replacement. I hope Diarra is a big time player.

the bigs situation isn't good. A good big and we would still be a really good team. I was hoping to have a good run and steal a recruit that decommitted but thats not going to be easy now with the choke job. (not that it was before). I do think he tried to get a big name with Little and Days but cincinnati didn't seem high on their list. It does make you wonder if the recruitment has also hit a ceiling.

Remember, only half the population is available to Mick to begin with.:(

I'm not sure the recruits are going to be as devastated with this game as the fans are. If they were watching they saw a lot of upsets by bigtime programs. I don't think this game kills recruiting that much...it's just a killer for fans. We could have maybe showed up on a few more recruits radars if we kept winning but I don't think we will lose out on much because of the game. At least not with current recruits.

I don't think they care much but it is one more chip you could have used when you are already operating from behind. I think it would have helped for a player that decommits in the spring because a coaching change or something. could have said, look at the run we just had. Probably doesn't matter much but Let's just say it doesn't help

People wanting to keep mick are the same losers that make excuses for Marvin Lewis. Regular season success should be the expectation, not something we praise and honor coaches for. 1 AAC title and 1 tourney title in 13 years of THIS league is embarrassing. If he overachieves in the playoffs hed deserve some slack but to be a constant failure, losing as the favorite, blowing 22 point leads, and bashing the media after the losses is where I'm drawing the line. He needs to go.

I disagree. NFL with the salary cap and draft end up the most even in sports. Head coaches also don’t leave for other jobs unless they are forced out in he NFL

Cronin is not operating on the same playing field as others, you have 350 D1 programs, cheaters, and P5 conferences in which we are not in. I get the frustration with our tournament struggles but I don’t think it’s fair to compare to Marvin Lewis.

I also like Cronins loyalty which was my coaching change comment. What UC’s football program goes through with changing their coaches every 5 years, to me sounds miserable for basketball

March madness is a tough pill to swallow and unfortunately the madness happened to us. I’m very pissed off too but I personally am one that supports Cronin and is fed up with Marvin

I also will never understand the concept of acting like the season depends on an elite 8 or even a final 4. Do we go around bragging that we came in 4th place? I mean you either win the tournament or don’t and unfortunately it’s 1 out of 350 schools that can win it in the beginning of the year then 1 out of 68 once the tourney starts. I would love a run, don’t get me wrong but at the end of day it was an amazing year that didn’t end up with a national championship

If we lose in the elite 8 it would have been fun enjoying a few more games but again, ends up in the same place as we did yesterday. An amazing year and not a national champion

I will say, I do love making the tournament and being part of the two most exciting days of the year.

We all have our own criteria for what is failure and where to draw a line for a coach. This latest flop was mine. I'm glad you can continue to support him despite the facts that he has underachieved at every step. He did a good job resurrecting the program but, like Marvin, is not the person that can take the program to another level. His style of play does not win in March and that's ultimately what matters to me.

Well, UC hasn’t been in THIS league for 13 years so there’s that. AAC is only 5 years old. He did have to rebuild from scratch in his 1st year in the BE. But at some point, he has to make a deep run in the tournament. There likely won’t be a better set of factors to do so than this year— most talented team, a #2 seed and multiple mid major opponents to reach E-8—for a LONG time.

It’s amazing how much different I feel just 24 hours later.

I’m not canceling my season tickets.

I love UC basketball. And while, we finished on a not so great note. I still love what Gary and Kyle did at our program.

I love being the underdog and having a blue collar program.

You guys can fire mick in your minds all you want. I’m ready to get rockin again next year

this "only one team wins" narrative is about as dumb as the people who say we should stop playing Xavier because we lose all the time. Yeah, it means more to go to the final 4, then to lose the first weekend. we still celebrate the 92 final 4 team and they did not win for a reason. come on man

Don't have to be an underdog to be blue collar.

I will still support the team and players but I won't be donating anything (not that I'm a major donor in the first place but it's principle) and I'll probably only attend a game or 2 next year to see the renovation. Blowing a 22 point lead in 10 minutes is almost impossible even if you actively tried to do it. And then the way mick acts afterwards is just unbecoming, really talks about his friend having cancer and how that is what really matters. While true, basketball is just a game (even though it is his career), not 1 person wants to hear that excuse.

You are entitled to your opinion I’m entitled to mine. I’d love a final 4 run but I don’t think it should depend on firing our coach or not for coming in 4th place or losing the first weekend is my point

why do people celebrate the final 4 teams? why do people make fun of xavier for never making it? So, now since we can't win, we have people and the coach saying it doesn't matter? hmm. weird how that works.

Not picking on you, but go back and read some of your posts from yesterday. We went manic.

It was kind of therapeutic to come read what everybody was saying. Tough tough tough loss.

people aren't firing him for not making it this year. They are firing him for a epic collapse with a great team, him acting like he is too good to answer simple questions in press conferences, having advanced 1 time in the tournament. Side note-I have never said fire him but I understand why people are upset

really with this draw it was elite 8 or bust. it would NEVER set up easier than it did.

its likely we never get a draw like that as long as some of us live.

Yeah. When I was in college and we went to the final four, for some reason I was realistic. And I told my dad, I just want one final for a decade. He thought that's not a lot. Overtime things changed. And now I say I just want one final four in my lifetime. And to be honest I don't know if I'll see one.

20 years from now, if we look back, it'll very likely be the most open path to the final four we will see.

And I had already told the people I was watching the game with, that if we get to the Elite 8 or Final Four, I am not going to be one of those people that says we just got there because the other seeds lost. You beat who's in front of you. And the final four or Elite 8 against lower seeds still is a final four on Elite 8. I give Xavier credit, I hate them, but lower seeds or not they have a couple of elite Eights.
