Cincy the big difference this year is we have a new PG. TC ran the point for 4 years. Before that it was Cash. We are running a different style with different ball Handler. We lost our backcourt of 4 years. I think many thought that would be easy to overcome. Hasn't worked out that way. We turned it over 21 times yesterday and without a missed foul call could have won that game. It certainly is possible to get things fixed and turned around.
First off, are we running a different style? It look exactly the same. Second, Florida looked terrible. They didn’t impress me at all and they turned the ball over almost as much as us. Yes, we could still turn the season around, but to what? Another 6-7 seed that has to play another 2 or 3 seed. How do we think that will go? I’m just saying, if you aren’t atleast question the coach now, (not saying fire him right now), not sure when you will.

Yes we are running a different offense. If our talent is so good the 2 or 3 seed will be sweating having to face us. I fully expected us to struggle early. You don't go through the changes we did without struggling. We also have a few players who are not playing up to past performances. Plenty of time to get better. I truly believe we will. And no I'm not in favor of firing the coach.

I hope we do turn it around

We graduated 2 starters and arent starting any freshman. Its not like the team was reinvented. They are under performing and the same play style isnt helping.

Honest question, what’s different about our offense. We play through the post, waiting for them to double and we pass out of it and if that doesn’t work, we run a high pick and roll. How is that different from last year?

Have been visiting this site for as long as I can remember, absolutely love Cincinnati basketball. In my opinion there is some concern in the losses uc has taken, especially Florida. The next two games are very important. The up rise isn't because we lost to Florida but how we did it. Very upset with Evans, just don't have the SK type of instinct.a lot of people are concerned with the way Cronin starts Jennifer over broome. But who else do we have to come off bench and add production. I am a huge Cronin supporter, however our guards are very different from caupain. And there size doesn't mean well with the wait, half court offense. I'm not saying to non stop run and gun, but we have to find that medium of when to set up half court offense, stall out shot clock and when to get it up. The game plan yesterday was to pound ball inside. Great, however every time Gary got ball on block and double team came he waited to long to kick it back out. So they would show double and then get back to defense scheme. Jacob had to be aggressive and Cumberland had to start hitting open shots. Kyle has been a disappointment. The bigger the game the more he rushes and disappears. I'm not saying there dead in water. But let's get a big win and get it over with. Mississippi State is pretty damn good. Need a big game. No full week off, so they shouldn't start off so Rusty. Need some assertiveness from our wings. And mane thing keep the dumb ass turnovers down. Go bearcats

We've only scored under 73 once. If you go back just 3 years ago, we were under 73 in 10 of our first 11 games. And 26 of 31 games overall. We've come a very long way in terms of ball movement. We pass the ball with more of a purpose than we used to. I know everyone hasn't been perfect this year, but conceptually I think they can operate at a higher level. We get good shots. Remember how many shot clock violations we used to have? Have we had any this year?

prior to Xavier game we were pushing the ball and trapping. Playing 10 guys and making it look easy. We know longer walk the ball up the floor on every possession. Which was a staple under TC. Yes in our half court offense we still play inside out. The difference has been in our execution. We got killed on the glass against X. They destroyed us on the interior. Kanter a sub out scored our bigs by himself. Hard to run when your being out rebounded by a bunch. Against Florida we turned the ball over 21 times. Your going to run into trouble playing D-2 schools turning it over at that rate. We also couldn't throw it in the ocean from 3 point range. Still had a shot to win the game. If we take care of the ball and rebound you'll find nothing wrong with our offensive philosophy. It would also help to knock down a few open 3's. We aren't hoisting shots as the time clock expires. We stunk the last two games. Plain and simple. You want to call it coaching thats fine. But he can't rebound, he can't shoot point blank bunnies and make them or take care of the ball. The players need to step up. No player has yet distinguished himself as a legitimate all American yet. Time for them to look in the mirror and decide what kind of season they want to have.

pg is not the problem... cane can straight play.

Mick NEEDS to allow this team to play. Run and gun. That's how this team wins.

I'm sick and tired of watching micks teams muddy the waters in big games.

Run and gun every possible chance. Mick needs to let these kids play basketball. I've seen better offense in pick up games.

We always get up and down against the bad teams, and mick says we are going to run more literally every year. But against good teams the offense is always the same. This is not different at all. The offense is also not different. Not giving you a hard time, but go back and watch. We run and gun against awful teams, and play slow half court, play through the post, pick and roll against good teams.

Correct. Mick needs to do what he does best. Coach this team to death defensively.

Offense, for these guys should be easy. Race up the court and shoot the ball. Over and over and over.

I agree, he cant make them rebound or make shots. He can implement better sets to play to players strengths more though. Like Xavier. Like other good coaches. Adapt to your players. If you don’t have great shooters, which I don’t think we do, maybe a wide open 3 isn’t the best shot all the time.

I appreciate your view point. Even if I don't agree. Do you think maybe that has something to do with the level of competition? Unlike most I'm not hung up on style. I just want to win. Slow, fast doesn't matter. I generally find that life is pretty simple. Play to your strengths and exploit the opposition weaknesses.

then you have to expect that is what the other team will try to force us to.let me ask you this. If you were a opposing coach how would you play us? I would double Kyle and Gary and try to make you shoot 3s. That is exactly what they do. If Kyle won't or can't find the open man what are your options? Are you just going to throw it around the perimeter? Your not winning in today's college game without a perimeter game.

Wide open 3s are always good shots. We have 6 rotation guys shooting over 37% from 3. And Clark is even 33.3%.

if i was a coach against us i'd tell my team to play 5 with a foot in the paint defense. we dont space well and mick forces our pg to stand at midcourt for him to call a play so we dont even start our offense until 15 seconds on the clock.

even when we swing the ball well against this, we either don't hit the open 3, or we penetrate into 3 defenders standing in the paint. thats how florida and xavier played

Yes. I considered that the level of competition was the reason we can’t run. That is 100% way we don’t try to run. I was just saying, this year was not different, at all
