yeah, so hard to tell. jermaine lawrence looks like kevin garnett on his tape and he gets here and he's one of the worst players on our team. A lot of it is how hard the player is willing to work once they get here and no one can know that

You can get a pretty good idea. And his older brother sounds like a great influence. There doesn't seem to be much risk at all with Logan in terms attitude or work ethic.

Jermiane lawrence couldn’t see the court in Manhattan if you would have told me that when he signed with us I would have thought you were from mars.

He didn't seem like he had much interest in taking coaching or working for it. Watching that interview Chad did with T Moore...what if Lawrence would've had that mindset and stayed for 3-4 years?

Not sure Morman and Lawrence are the best examples. It wasn't really a talent issue with them. And it's hard to judge bc they didn't make it more than a year. Had they both stayed here for 4 years, who knows?

Here's what I know about Logan Johnson: He extremely athletic. He looks to be a very crafty finisher who can easily use both hands. He has legitimate PG skills and vision. He'll be behind 2 SR PGs as a FR while he learns the ropes. His brother went from walk-on to $50M NBA player bc he worked his ass off, so there's no doubt Logan knows how hard it is to make it. He seems to be very excited about coming to UC and is well aware that he's going to be coached hard. His brother is the one who told him to pick UC to toughen him up. I get zero impression that he's like Morman or Lawrence in any way. Morman had a bad attitude and Lawrence thought the program would revolve around him from day 1. He had handlers making decisions for him. I don't think Logan Johnson comes with that kind of baggage. He seems like a hard working kid who loves to hoop. As he adds strength and gains experience, his floor is extremely high in our conference just by virtue of being in our program and working with our players, coaches, and Rehfeldt. He fits our culture. We have humble workers. Guys who aren't afraid to grind. I don't think we would be bringing him in if we didn't think he fit in with what we have on the roster. And with the players we've been bringing in lately, I trust that our coaches know what they're doing. They aren't going to take an early commitment from a scrub, especially considering that we really need a PG for 2019-20. So the fact that they aren't still looking should tell you how they feel about him. And that's good enough for me. Obviously you can't just directly translate his HS tape to D1. You have to use your imagination. And nothing I have seen or heard steers me in the direction of projecting him out to be like the bad attitude busts from years ago.

Well said my friend. 👏

Nice breakdown Jacob! I don't know what everyone else is watching but I don't have any worries right now about Johnson. Extremely competitive, very athletic, and ambidextrous. HIs outside shot seems decent, he seems like a good finisher left or right handed, and his handles seem respectable.

I have seen some videos of him taking his outside shots with his left. I have also seen him finish with the right hand at the rim most of the time. I have seen some very athletic attempts at power dunks which, for some reason, he favors throwing down with his right.

I just don't recall seeing some of these attributes in our PG's over the years. He will be the most athletic PG in many years. I don't recall seeing any PG who is as comfortable with his left and right hand. By the way...he can also pass with some zip and accuracy from either hand. Seems to me like a rare PG overall...maybe not as much in overall flashy talent...but certainly in unique combinations of athleticism and dexterity.

I agree 100%. When I say i’m Not that big on him, I just meant I think he’s got some work to do. I Think it will take some time. Which is fine. Still like the pick up. He has a good support system and you know he will work hard. If the floor for a recruit is someone that will come in and work hard to get better, I’ll take that

I actually think this is a bit of a disservice. This kid can play! Obviously I don't think he is going to start year 1...but he is a year 2 starter no doubt. He has no competition in year 2...not that he needs it. We will need another PG prospect to fill in...but this kid can play 3 years for us.

I would like another more guys like Trevor Moore. 6’3-6’8 guys that just shoot lights out. I don’t care how many stars they are or if they are athletic at all. With the athletes we have next couple years, a couple of these guys would help open the floor.

Do people want to simply hear everyone is perfect or everything is perfect at all times? It’s not like I was killing the kid. Simply think it will take some time.

Offensively down low next year is the biggest question we will have. I'm enjoying this year obviously but can't help but to think about what it will be like next year.

PF wise we have been spoiled with Gary for 4 years. He's been able to score and, never looked offensively challenged like some of the bigs we get in our system. This year obviously he is even scoring more.

Center wise within the past 4 years we have had Ellis and Washington who both can score. Washington obviously way better than Ellis, but Ellis still had what it took to get the ball in the basket better than most of the centers (besides Yancy) we have had.

To me next year I just don't see Brooks being able to score at the center. I don't think he can match Ellis and def not Washington. PF wise I don't see Scott coming close to Clark's offense ability.

It's going to be a huge difference next year not having some offensive talent down low in both PF and C, however, I think our bigs will hold their own on the defensive end.

All I can say is enjoy this year because it's going to be an interesting year next year. That's why youll never hear me complain about Washington, my man can score.

Yeah, big guys who can score are hard to find in general. That Isaiah mike ( I think that’s his name) transfer would have been nice

I think this is an over the top reaction. Try to remain calm bro.

Early Thoughts

-Evans needs to come back

-Cumberland needs to continue to work on his shooting

-Moore needs to get way more consistent shooting the 3

-Williams needs to make a big jump and become a legit rotation player

-Scott needs to become a leader

-Broome needs to get better at going right and needs to have really high screens set for him to get him downhill

-Diarra needs to give us 12-15 minutes or we are in big trouble getting points from our bigs. And we might be in trouble anyway.

-We should be a good defensive and rebounding team

-May not score 70 PPG. Who is going to bail us out and get us buckets with Washington gone? His ability to make tough shots from the post is going to be hard to replace.

-I think we'll go 23-8 and 13-5 in the league. I think we will be a 7-9 seed.

-In years past we have always had a reason why we can't run. Not suited for Caupain, or Clark, or Washington or whatever. We don't have that excuse anymore on the roster. Will be interested to see where we rank next year in AdjT. Probably about the same. But if there was ever going to be a quicker year, next year would be it with 2 SR PGs and mobile bigs. I'm not about to start buying into any of that nonsense though.

I'd like to land that JUCO Mahan. Saw that A&M offered him...then go on to beat UNC and we have a historic collapse. Wonder if that will play into anything.

Won't matter until we have players:
1. Players who can make jump shots
2. Players who know they should not take jump shots

The excuses to not run are crap. One excuse, mick. And he is still around. He gets scared with a lead
