Gary Clark

Guy needs to man up. He had to force a couple early last night and went right back to his old comfort zone of rebounding only. So disappointing that he isn't over this. He was more aggressive at the end of the game at least. But 10 points in 2 games isn't good enough. It just can't work like that.

Agreed. But tough when they are doubling him every touch bc we can't do anything else.

He is young player that is going to have to adjust to teams game planning around him on D. I wouldn't worry to much about Clark. He is a smart kid that will figure it out.

Next year teams will not double up on Clark with Washington and a more experienced Evans. Where is Ellis pts if Gary is doubled up?

Ha. We would have said the same thing last year with Ellis. Everyone is always better next year, until next year actually comes.

Yeah but that Wingfield guy was the best frosh I have ever seen. I would take freshman Wingfield over Sophmore Clark.
oh yeah! I have never seen a player like him. I used to go to practices back then. He was unbelievable. I like how he is now coaching kids and teaching them to avoid his mistakes.

0 FG last 2 games. Can't have it. But at least he doesn't shut it down completely when he doesn't have it going. He took 8 shots yesterday, compared to 2 in the Xavier game earlier in the year when he had 0. He has also tallied 24 rebounds 4 assists 4 steal and 3 blocks in those 2 games. I don't know the exact numbers, but he has done well on FT too I think. He's gotta get it going though in Orlando. Hopefully Kenyon has a chat with him.

I think you have to worry if it gets in his head at some point. He's been missing some point blank stuff and he's normally had touch.

He's still earning his keep on defense and rebounding though, so there is really nothing to decide. Hope and pray shots start falling.

Ever since Danny fortson had a talk with him he hasn't done well offensively. He's pressing way to much instead of taking good shots he's taking difficult shots and missing them which is making him less confident and more passive. He needs to just let the game come to him and if he has a good shot take it, if not pass it out.

I've noticed he's been guarded better lately. His shots have mostly been defended very well with a few exceptions. He will be fine as long as we get production elsewhere

I feel like things have been quiet on Clark this offseason. Had he not been injured at the end of the year, I feel like we'd be more excited about him. The injury kind of made me forget just how good he was for a stretch last year. He went through an 8 game stretch where he averaged 14.8 ppg, 9.8 rpg, 2.3 bpg, shot 8-15 (53%) from 3, and 57% ovetall.

Makes me sick thinking if he was healthy at the end of the season what could have been.

Not saying we would have won it all, but lets say we still lose the UCONN game we would have beat St Joes and had a very good shot at Oregon.

If we beat UCONN would imagine we win the AAC and get a 6 or 7 seed. That would have been some different matchups. Just would have been interesting to see and if a team deserved to be healthy at the end and have a postseason run that would have been us.

I have mutual friends with Gary, he says he's feeling all the way better. Hopefully he will stay healthy all year. With a combo between him and Washington this is going to be our best PF and C combo we have had in a decade or so.

I love everything about Gary's game. I think the only thing he lacks is a killer instinct. I'm excited about Jacob's potential, but I think Gary and Troy are both more important to our success next year. If they all play well, we will be very good.

I feel this way too.

He can do everything well and does somethings extremely well. He rebounds, he can shoot, he can drive, he can pass, he jumps into passing lanes, blocks shots and can play shut down D.

If he had the killer instinct of justin Jackson, he'd be an all american. Justin Jackson was far less gifted in so many areas compared to Gary BUT made up for it with extreme effort and fight. Gary has flashes of it, but he is so unselfish, he doesn't demand the ball.
