Yet people also make it personal to go after him any time he makes a mistake.

Then people will defend him because they feel people go after him.

Some people got their panties in a bunch when others repeated what Mick said earlier in the season, that it was Troys team. For some reason that offended people and now people jump down his throat any chance they get.

He had a terrible game tonight, maybe the worst of his career. We need him to snap out of it quickly.

Agreed. It's the exact same phenomena that occurred with Jenifer.

Lol, statistical outliers? It's 29.9% for the whole season. 36% for the whole season. He was sucking with or without his 0 for 10 performance tonight. His poor shooting just got poorer.

an 0 for 10 is an outlier unless someone shoots in the single digits...

Statistical outliers can last for seasons as well.

Go look up SK's jr year. Under 40% from the floor, 30% from 3.

Of course they can go the other way too. No way is Caupain a 40% 3 point shooter like he shot last year. He's probably around a 34-35% 3 point shooter, mediocre.

It's just kind of weird to me to put 1 player ahead of an entire team like that. To the point where Ellis got MVP of our tournament, and we're told he'll probably give the award to Caupain.

Caupain is having a terrible shooting season. I've been waiting for it to turn around, but since conference play started he's at 30.2% overall. I have a hard time believing people would go to bat so hard for any other player on the team with numbers like that. I even remember someone calling for Cobb's starting spot when he had a 4-13 game. I dunno. I think Clark and Cobb (and Ellis when he isn't in foul trouble) are easily the best players on the team this year.

Isn't that going to have a lot to do with him playing the most minutes? He's played more than a whole game's worth of minutes over Clark, who is 2nd on the team. And the difference gets bigger from there.

He's third behind Ellis and Evans in per 40 +/-. Evans is at 25.9, Ellis 19.8, Caupain 17.2.

(For players that average at least 15 minutes a game. Tobler is at 31.1 btw...LOL)

i haven't been nearly as frustrated with troy as i have been with ellis throughout the season. i thought octagon could/should be our best player.

man, what a disappointment that's been. big step in the right direction tonight, though. hopefully he can build on it.

Well I like Caupain too...and I'm saying he's been a disappointment so far this season.

Man. I don't know people expect of him. He is the guy who has to shoot the shit shots at the end of games and at the end of shot clocks.

But what I love most about caupain this year is he actually become a much better passer. On the season his assists are up and turnovers are down from last year. His assist to turnover ratio is 33rd in the nation.

I just saw kelvin Sampson pre game interview and he praised caupain and said there isn't a team in the country who wouldn't love Troy running the point for him. He called him boringly good and that's a great explanation, he will never be flashy but he is poised and usually doesn't turn the ball over

I'm a little surprised Evans is still that high. I feel like he's been a little off lately.

I just find it crazy that he was able to average 28.7 minutes last year. That's the average in his 3 highest games this year. He's been at just 21.6 in conference play.

Evans was +18 against Butler and +7 against Iowa State. Those two games skewed his stats. For example against Iowa State Clark was -19, and against Butler he was -8. Almost all our players were in the negatives in both those games but him.

Was Thomas hurt for a few minutes? I thought we went Caupain, Cobb, Johnson when Thomas got hurt and Evans fouled out. I don't know if that'll be a normal thing. Our rebounding took a hit with that lineup.
yea,he looked like he hurt his hip. He came back in shorty after though.

Troy shot the ball terrible last night. Fact is he has not shot the ball as well as I thought he would off last years performance. He has improved his distribution skills but hopefully he'll revert to good shooting Troy at some point. We need him. We are much better when his offense is consistently there. Him,Cobb and KJ if on, open up the inside when they are converting.

Jake I think you may be expecting him to be a bit more then his skills allow. He is not a guy who will carry the team. As pointed out before I do not no if we have such a player. To be really good all the Pistons have to be firing. Offense and defensively. If we continue to guard and score 70 will win a bunch of games.

Mick says Troy is one of the best guards in the country. How are our expectations too high? If Mick is telling the truth, then we should expect a lot, and he isn't delivering.
