Cumberland had a great game IMO. Not efficient but great. He was aggressive and got some fouls. He got some tip outs on rebounds. He only had 1 steal but I think he created 3 or 4. His FT's coming down the stretch were HUGE! He baited them perfectly!

Loved his game last night!! Just as much a factor as anyone else. Kyle looked very good as well. Dynamic Duo was solid as usual.

Just got done watching the game, listened to it last night but was unable to watch unfortunately. Few things I noticed when I was actually able to watch the game. The refs were the usually AAC bad, Washington can take over a game, Evans played all 40 minutes (which I did not know on the radio). And most of all we were just so resilient, tough, we never showed any fear and we never gave up. Great mentality to have.

Got a +/- for the 1st half and the game.

First half:

Jenifer +3
Cumberland -12
Evans -3
Clark +2
Washington +7
Broome -9
Brooks -10
Scott -2
Moore +6
Williams +1

Full game :

Jenifer +15
Cumberland +3
Evans +10
Clark +8
Washington +24
Broome -8
Brooks -13
Scott +4
Moore +4
Williams +1

Washington was dominate for us all game, he was the biggest part of our win today.

Cumberland had a rough first half and really turned his game on in the second.

Jenifer played really well, and made big play at the right times.

Clark sat a lot in the second half because of foul trouble but still managed to get his production.

Evans played all 40 minutes, so he just kinda rode the wave. Like Cumberland had a rough first half, really Played well in the second.

Broome and brooks I think just happened to be in at the wrong time for some of the bad runs, I don't think it is necessarily reflective of their play though, they both played pretty well for the most part.

All around hard fought, tough win. And an awesome game to watch.

Nice having Jenifer in games like last night. He was steady. He's just gotta be himself and play his game.

Broome has had a tougher adjustment than I think any of us guessed. What's his best game in conference play? Hopefully he has a huge breakout game Saturday playing close to home. We need him making plays.

Yeah I'm really surprised we haven't seen him get close to 20 this year. He has been on a short leash though so it can be kind of hard to get into rhythm.

Stat line for conference play for broome.

FG 33.3%
3pt 35.3%
RPG 1.1
APG 3.7
TO 1.4
PPG 5
MPG 20.4

His best game came against Memphis, 3-7 and 2-4 from deep. 6-1 TO to assists and 9pts in 28 minutes.

Man, I had high hopes for Cane. I still do but he's obviously not killin it. I still like when he is in over Jennifer. Sometimes it's not always about stats but just the flow. Jennifer is playing decent too, I just still think Cane gives us more.. For the most part I think Cronin is playing it perfectly though.

he's down on his confidence now and seems hesitant a lot of the time not wanting to make a mistake.

most players go through ups and downs over the course of a season. we've seen enough to know what broome is capable of, last night wasn't it.

Great comeback and even better being there in person. I sit pretty close above where the visiting team comes in and out and they looked completely dejected running into the locker room at halftime. That close of the first half was nuts. This team has that extra something this year. Great effort all around.

Hate to be negative after a win....but good God, where did they find these refs at? It's embarrassing some of the stuff they miss and calls they do and don't make. As many travels as I've seen called the last two years, these three guys didn't get the memo. And the fouls on box outs. At least they got our crowd fired up.

Houston had 15 fouls from their center position.... That's just nuts. They were trying to stop our bigs and not doing a very good job of it. At least the refs were calling fouls. Their starter, Brady, might not have even played five minutes total. I need to look at the box score. I kind of feel bad for him and kind of don't.

Another note, I was intentionally trying to watch how we defended Gray. Great job of ball denial once the ball wasn't in his hands in the half court. We shadowed him and forced the ball elsewhere. Thought Devin Davis played a great game. Did we recruit him? His name seems familiar. But he was making play after play, even bated Clark a couple times on D. I tip my cap to him on that.

EDIT: 6 minutes he played...5 fouls in 6 minutes

That was sick...lol! Evans had a sick move earlier.
Yes, yes, yes Jacob! He is tall, so he dribbled it so low and went through 2 people, and passed to Washington! Maybe that's how he can get better at penetrating? He's just got to dribble super low. Maybe he is afraid he will turn it over, and that's why he doesn't. Plus he doesn't have the fastest first step. Keep dribbling low JEIII.

when we first got down 18 i was thinking we need to find a way to stop the bleeding and attempt to get it to 10 points by half.

the last 4 minutes of the first half were insane.

Anyone have video of the last 4 min? I was only able to see the second half

Great game. Place seemed rockin. There were some absolutely brutal bricks on some possessions but boy this team is fun to watch. Just enjoying this ride right now.

He needs to just play instead of worrying about setting up the offense and getting players shots. I've felt from day 1 that he has tried to fit in too much. When he has the mindset to score he is a different player. He can blow by anyone at anytime. His move at the end of the game was sick. He'll be the difference maker if this team is to advance.

Since he's playing point a lot, I'm guessing the coach is telling Cane he wants him setting up the offense and getting players shots.

i think he's worried about staying on the court. unfortunately what you're suggesting would likely lead to him sitting on the bench.

but yeah its not fun to see him neutered.

The entire game is on YouTube, just search Houston at Cincinnati basketball.

Thanks mate, good stuff! This is a game our teams of past would have reeeeeally struggled to come back and win but these guys won it going away.

As a PG he needs to execute and facilitate the game plan. We are 20-2 and ranked in the top 10. Undefeated in league. Have the longest home winning streak in the country.

While I agree we could be a bit more effective from a PG play standpoint (there is always room to improve). I don't think it is all about scoring. We are on a very nice run. He needs to be more effective executing the game plan not looking for his shots. If he takes care of the ball, scores some buckets in the flow of the offense and plays lock down defense we will all be happy with how the season ends. Forcing things and turning the ball over is what get him yanked. Him and JJ have some very good players surrounding them. Getting them involved and taking care of the basketball is much more important then him getting 20 a game. Our results tell me that.

I also was at the Houston game and something stuck out in my mind. At the end of the half JJ was inserted when Coach was looking for defense. When he wanted offense he inserted Cane.

Against most teams we are going to try to feed the blocks from the wing when both Kyle and Gary are in the game. At least early in the clock. It just is what it is. When it gets to 10 seconds and we haven't gotten a good look for Gary or Kyle...then we can let Cane do his thing. He can also be very useful when working the inside out approach ends up with an open look for 3.

But Kyle and Gary are probably only on the court together for an average of 20 minutes a game. Kyle only averages 23 mpg. I think we can let Cane work his magic a little more when they aren't both on the floor. Going from side to side only works so well for us because we have two bigs who can score the ball. When only one of them is in...I don't think we need to try to force feed Scott or Brooks on the other side.

Next year things are going to be a lot different without Kyle and Gary. Cane will have more freedom. For now...Cane better get comfortable passing to the wings early in the clock when Kyle and Gary are in the game. They are two pretty good weapons we need to incorporate.

Don't forget Evans. He needs his touches as well. If the clock is running down that is who I want to have the ball. fact is Cane is not the first option on this team. he should be looking to set others up. Right now that is the struggle he is having with his game. With that said he is improving. His ball security is much better and his defense is getting their. his shot selection has improved as well.

I agree with you about force feeding Scott but I must say the more Brooks plays the more I'm encouraged by his offense. He doesn't have Kyle's range but he uses both hands and can hit the baby hook over each shoulder. he was very aggressive against Houston.

He may not have a ton of TO lately but I don't feel like his ball security has been very good.
