Great win last night. Rebounding, rebounding, rebounding. Rhode Island rebounded half their misses vs. us. HALF. Last night Iowa State was into the second half before they got their first. Limiting teams to one shot and playing great D to make that shot tough is a recipe for success. As much as we knock Cronin for preaching D and rebounding and "things we can control", it won us one big time game last night.
The stall ball was annoying. I get limiting possessions when you play a good offensive team and especially one that thrives on getting up and down the court but I'd still like to see us show a little hustle on offense.
Thought Mick did a good job of using his TO's last night. I knocked him for not using one to stop a run in the Rhode Island game, especially pocketing the use it or lose it in the first half, but last night he used them at the right times to try and prevent runs.
KJ played well. Unsung hero. Clark and Washington both rebounded well. Lot of put backs. Hopefully last night gets it in these guys heads how important rebounding is. Team could be scary good if we see last night's effort on D and rebounding.
The offense looked bad but I'm less worried about this team's offense than past year's. Caupain simply has to step it up. He has been bad to say the least. Kyle and Evans both looked to have come back down to earth after they're insanely good starts. KJ and Clark are who they are offensively. What we got last night is about what we can expect. Like what I've seen from Scott and Brooks. Cumberland needs to find his role. Talent is there, but he isn't bringing much to the table in his limited minutes here recently.
Overall, I'm on cloud nine right now. We beat a ranked team in a true road game. Out of conference. That is good on so many levels. The nation was watching and hopefully some potential recruits. Have to keep the momentum going. But for now,it feels great to be a Bearcat!!
